Prelude to Sunrise

I can't write about the sunset
Though I really wish I could
But every time pen hits the pad
I'm writing things I should
Not really write, nor think
It's just hard to explain
I can't write about sunshine
When my life has only rain
I'd rather write of rainbows
Or clouds up in the sky
But I promised her a sunset
If I break it, then I'll die
Inside that is, not literally
Now to get back to this poem,
I have to write of sunshine
So I'll make mysekf at home...

As the sun starts to rise
My love, she gets wise
A few cups of coffee
Much to my demise
For soon she will see
Darkness within me
& my only fear is
That my love will soon flee
But as the sun sets
I have no regrets
My love did not leave
(Though we never had sex)
The sun set with devotion
& a bit of emotion
Tomorrow it rises
With one great big motion
But as for today
There's one more chance to say
"My love, I am falling
In every way"
Possible, it seems
If only in my dreams
For reality breaks through with
Tomorrow's sun beams
