Yesterday marked a very sad day for me and many freestyle fans.
Freestyle All Star Safire announced her retirement on the Freestyle File show.

Safire brought professionalism, talent and fun to Freestyle Music.
Her achievements have paved the way for many new artists. Gave them
something to reach for. I know many new artists are reaching for
it right now.

As CF Member 'Nostalgia Only' posted - Safire had the Most singles
to Chart on Billboard HOT 100 singles chart. the songs:

Let Me Be the One, Boy I've Been Told, Thinking of You,
Gonna Make It, I Will Survive, Made Up My Mind, Taste the Bass

Outside of the business Safire is one of the most down to earth
- loving, caring persons that I know. For me she is a Star no
matter what she has achieved and what she will achieve.
A start that shines bright.

Safire is going to be moving on to some new form of music.
I know I will support her in anything she does. I know she will
grace that genre with her talent and once again concur the world.

Many of you don't know that Safire reads these forums and reads
all of your postings from time to time. She tells me how much she loves
everyone here and on all sites. That she wishes the best for freestyle
and the best for you and I.

ClubFreestyle will always love Safire and so will I. Lets follow her career
and give her support which is needed for anyone to make it.

It's sad to hear that Safire is retiring. She will definatley be missed. I still remember when it was announced at Blis back in May. Whichever genre of music she chooses to go into, I wish her the best of luck, and will definitely support her. Her voice is amazing and it stands out and sets her apart. I wish her nothing but the absolute best.

Growing up I admired Safire and to this day I do . I had the pleasure of meeting Safire on several diffrent ocassions, Shows , charity events , and she is a very sweet , professional lady Always taking a moment to say hello and speak to me . My dream became a reality when I opened up for Safire @ Club Bliss in NY this past Feb 2002. Freestyle Music is loosing a gem.. Your mark in the freestyle genre will never be forgotten. Truly a Diva.

I wish Safire all the best in her future endeavors.
 
DAYUM SHE IS RETIRING FROM FREESTYLE AND THAT BREAKS MY HEART. BUT IT'S NOT LIKE SHE CAN'T DO HER THANG DOIN SOMETHING ELSE. I REMEMBER FIRST HEARING SAFIRE OH MAN IT WAS LIKE I WANTED TO BE HER. HER VOICE BLEW ME AWAY. I WAS LIKE 15 OR 16 THEN, OVER THE YEARS SHE HAS COME OUT WITH SOME BEAUTIFUL SONGS. WHEN SOMEONE HAD STOLEN MY BOY I'VE BEEN TOLD TAPE I ALMOST DIED. AND THEN THE INTERNET WAS INVENTED, I SEARCHED HI AND LOW FOR THAT CD AND I CAME HERE AND WITH THE ADVICE OF CF PEEPS I FOUND IT! YAY!!.

When you told me the news of your retirement from Freestyle back in May out in San Jose, I was sad but happy at the same time that you were following your heart and trying something new. Just as you did back in 1986 when "Don't Break My Heart" dropped and made butts move from East to West, I know you will make an impact with your new style. Thank you for all the great memories, performances, music, and most of all, for being such a down to Earth person who was more than ready to talk with fans. It was my honor to have interviewed you on my show and to meet you in person. More important, it was my honor to have the chance to play the classic music to you gave to the Freestyle world. Well now yalll know I am going to have a lot to say because this is my idol. I grew up listening to Safire, watching her and I wanted to be her I spent countless days and hours trying to sound like her singing along to her every song wondering what it was like to be her. Finally my dream came true Feuary 2002, I met my idol at club Blis I was drunk off my ass and all I can remember saying was I love you lol. I have said it so many times and will say it always Safire is more then a woman, she is truly a Queen one of the most beautiful people anyone could ever meet, she is honest, sincere, and as real as anyone can get. Time has not touched her because she is gorgous and what makes her even more so is the beauty she posses inside not just outside anyone lucky enough to know her personally will agree. Safire you have given us so much, so much so that people dont even know it or realize it. You opend the doors for so many young women after you proving that a latina can be successfull in an industry where so much goes on. You are proof that woman could be just as big if not bigger in this industry. You have traveled the world met so many people and impacted so many lives with your every song. Words can not truly express what you have done for the industry its sad that praise is only given when an artist departs yet while we have them we dont give them enough reason to stay, the aknowledgment they deserve. You know that I wish you all the success in the world and that I got your back 100% in your change. And let me not see anyone coming up in here trying to in any way bring her down for the change of genre. Mama it has been a dream come true to meet you to know you to share who I am with you, to know how truly special you are because you are mama. No one can take anything you have accomplished in your life away from you because you worked hard and did it and I know you will work just as hard come the new year. This is one woman who I am proud to say is a beautiful, talented, classy person. A true artist in every sense of the word, a classy latina to boot! someone I am proud to call friend. Yes it is sad to know she is retiring from freestyle, but the woman is outstanding and will excel in whatever she does.

girl you know we talk for hours about this. as long as your happy I am happy for you. you have always been my idol, my favorite freestyle artist, and you will be my favorite artist no matter what you do next. SO for your future, I wish you nothing but happiness! you know I will always back you up in whatever you decide to do.
