i dont think Q102 will be plaing more freestyle after the show i was talking to richie rich and he said this is why they dont play much freestyle on Q102 cause from what he said not too many people showed up i dont know what he is talkin about there was alot of people there but i think everyone here in philly n outside should email Q102 or call them and start asking for more freestyle to be played.
 
I won't even go INTO the whole Richie Rich thing ... I have my reasons. He's ONLY about the $$$. He may have supported freestyle at ONE time in his life -- but I won't even tell you the THINGS I've heard come out of his mouth about our favorite music. He MAY want to play it, but, his hands are tied as well.

I really didn't want to get into the whole Q102 debate ... It's a LOSING battle. For YEARS, I (and many others) have tried to persuade Q102 to BE the radio station that they USED to be .. but Radio is an EVIL empire. I headed up countless efforts and was involved in MANY others, that basically amounted to NOTHING, except for the occasional play of a freestyle song here and there, and the occasional freestyle mix set at 3:00am - and even THEY are gone now. I've just about given up over the past few years, as I don't even LISTEN to the station anymore - so I basically STOPPED trying to voice my opinion around 2 years ago. At least from 96-98 they tried to play SOME dance/freestyle music. We tried phonothons, endless emails to station people -- even so far as going up to what USED to be AMFM, and is now Clear Channel. Face it people -- commercial radio SUCKS nowadays -- it's all about the almighty $Dollar ... they do NOT care about the listeners at ALL. Radio stations are mainly ALL owned by big conglomerate companies and they are all 'cookie cutter' formats -- Q102 being included. Radio has no HOMETOWN identity anymore. The old days of Q102 (circa 1989-1992) will NEVER return. It took me a long time to realize this, I guess because I didn't WANT to, but, it's the reality. We have to rely on independently owned stations (yeah, try finding one of THOSE in a major market city) and college or internet stations. In case you didn't know it, B101 is the ONLY independently owned well known station in Philly and yet it gets the HIGHEST ratings -- hmmm, I wonder why ??? Just look at the radio dial in Philadelphia -- we gotta have the WORST variety for a top 10 market (we're #5). There's about 6 stations whose formats OVERLAP each other -- WHAT kind of variety is that ??? Oh, can we PLEASE have just ONE more rock station, we only have like 5 already. And any hopes of a dance station just vanished when the only thing close to dance (Jammin' Gold) just flipped to, you guessed it -- a ROCK AC station. Please -- I follow radio in this city VERY closely -- but it's only because of my HATRED for the way things are. I don't want to bore you any longer with it! Believe me, I've tried just about everything there is, and so have many others -- so, DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME. The sad part is -- many of the people WORKING in radio don't even want to be PLAYING what they're PLAYING -- AND they have no say -- ALL playlists are PRE-PROGRAMMED by 'so-called' program directors -- and even THEY have little or no say, as most stations are run by consultants -- go figure that one ... well, I won't bore you any more with all this talk about radio -- sorry, I got rambling on it !

There's a MUCH better station that you can listen to -- if you're lucky -- and it's 'The Buzz - 99.3/105.5' in South Jersey ... unfortunately, you have to be in South Jersey (sometimes South Philly) or close to the SHORE to get it -- but you CAN get 99.3 in your cars -- believe me -- cause I can get it. And guess what -- they're an INDEPENDENTLY OWNED radio station, in a small market -- so, they can play just about WHATEVER they want - like the old Q102 days! I talk to the guy who runs the station on a REGULAR basis -- and most of the freestyle you hear on there -- he got from ME ! LOL! Give it a listen, you will NOT be disappointed.

Also, just a quick PLUG for the station -- anyone who will be down in the WILDWOOD, NJ area for July 7th -- 'The Buzz' is throwing a FREE concert on the beach at Morey's Pier, featuring many DANCE artists like Amber, Becca, Kim Sozzi, Debelah Morgan, and even freestyle legend Lisa Lisa ... it starts at 2:00pm ...

If you can't tune in to 'The Buzz', just listen to MY station on the net ! LOL!

Willie gave CF a shout-out and I missed it? Damn, thanks Willie, I was to the left of the stage on the steps, near the steps where Coro walked up to perform. He walked right by me...ooohhh la la! I was so excited to be there (and lost some of my hearing for a short time lol), I must have some memory loss!

Ty Bless, were you the cool looking guy standing at the top of those steps, real close to where I was, who was singing to all the TKA songs? If you were they should add you to the group lol, you knew more of the words to the songs than I did! I definately would have said hi if I knew that it was you! Ask my kids, I will talk to ANYBODY lol!

Monique/ Monarico. so that's where you were girl! I kept telling Mandy to go up in front of the stage (I was like you could touch Coro or TKA lol), but her sister and friends wanted to be directly across from the stage at the railing around the dance floor. She visited me once and awhile though, especially during TKA.

I took pics too JackG, I'll put them on a disc and email them to you soon. That club was damn dark though! When we were taking pics downstairs in the hallway, of Willie and Synthia, our clothes were glowing from some blacklite or something! I can't wait to see how those pics look lol! DJ Dez didn't Q102 plug a freestyle show that Fernando was djing? If they did, what day, and time did they say it was on?

Noke, I'm gonna email Q102 about the show. At first the crowd looked sparse, but after it got later in the evening it looked like more showed up. I expected the place to be PACKED, but in a way I'm glad it wasn't. I loved the club, but it was too hot in there, and too small in my opinion to pack us in like sardines! In my town, I was thinking to myself, I thought there might have been a bigger turn-out. We have alot of NYers here, a large Latin population, and a good amount of freestyle lovers!

On the way up to the show we put on Q102, expecting to hear promos advertising the event, or at least some freestyle songs to put people in the mood to go, but when we listened there was, NOTHING! Maybe we missed the promos or freestyle songs.

Rookie and JoeDocPa, you both better be at the next Philly show! We missed you guys! I forgot to give a shout-out to Rosco, where's your post lol? Did I miss anyone else?

I'm glad you're getting calls since the show Ty Bless! I know there must be alot of clubs in Philly and in my town that would put on a freestyle show! Let's do it AGAIN!!! Woo-hoo!!

yeah me 2 i hope to be at the next show when it comes back to philly and dez is so right about richie rich he must be a bsb nstink fan he will learn one day when he loses his job im a dj and i play everything if people dont like freestyle they can turn it off but radio should not forget about people like us who do like freestyle i play freestyle and etc im not richie rich who just plays what the lil kids wanna hear i will not lisn to Q again untill the 15 min run out on the boybands etc
 
I've been asleep for the past day or so, but an awseme freestyle concert! TKA tore it up, Stefanie Bennet started the show of great and Stevie B concluded what was the best freestyle show in Philly. I just about got everyones autograph, except Lil Suzy's (The Freestyle Goddess) and TKA's. Hope to see more events here in Philly soon.🙂

I Got Some Pics!

Hey Rhoq, RummyG, and Noke! Didn't I take an inside group pic with you guys in it? I took a whole roll of film at the show, but ran out of film before we met Stevie B and got his autograph at the end of the night :boo-hoo: He was posing for pictures too!

I only got like 2 of TKA, and 1 or 2 of Stevie B on stage. Why didn't I bring more film? We need to go to another show and take more pics lol!

Anyways, my pics are going on a disk and will be ready Friday, or Sat. at the latest. If they get decent I'll pm all of you, ok?
