Well its in affect here and in this case I feel a lil safer as ya know I work here in grand central station in the MetLife building with the amount of commuters that come through and tourist and this being a major point fof transportation they are randomly searching peoples bags on there way into the subways from what I saw and my co worker just got in and said they were searching anyone with a bag its a bit of a relief with what happend yesterday and this morning in London. What do you guys think
 
i think the patriot act is a big crock of shit.... sexyangel, you feeling the false sense of security is what makes it possible for these kinda laws to be in affect..... 🙂
 
we've been following the patriot act here at the bank for a while.

extra care is being taken care when opening accounts, and there are specific Patriot Act forms that we have to follow.

in my opinion thats just more work for the average person to do, while theres still no guarantee that a terrorst attack can't happen here... just my opinion of course..... 🙂
what bank u work @ chuck???? both my parents work for banks, I wonder if they follow the patriot act.....
 
No no do not misinterpret I am so not for it HELL NO lol but there searching shit right now seems appropriate with the recent attempts. I hoep I dont sound contradictive but what I am saying is I am glad they are doign somethign rather tehn staniding aroudnwaiting for something to happen.

I work for Sovereign.

I'm sure they do, it's just new procedures in being more careful with who you are opening accounts for, giving loans to, and such.

That was one of the big deals just after 9/11, that banks had opened accounts for the terrorists that flew the planes that day.

I for one don't have an issue w/any of the extra security measures taken place all over ! If its gonna make a freakin terrorist think twice about doing something if bags are being checked.. then Im all for it! The era of "trusting" the next person is long gone.. U have NO idea who u could be sitting next to you or walking by that is a Hater and has no regard for life.. I say ALL bags should be mandated to be made "see thru" !

I dont have to believe in everything and in every law passed thats my rightas an american my rght to choose. So if I say I do not agree with this Act 100% that is my choice and not for you to judge. I am not sitting here judging your beliefs or what you choose to believe in I accept it and agree to disagree. So to tell any one who has an opinion that is not of yours that they should thread lightly on subject they have little knowledge of is disrespectful to there intelect because you are passing judgement on

No I dont believe in the Patriot Act 100% but the amont of cops now dispatched on almost every platform with the recent events in London help me as a civilian feel a little safer as a New Yorker so much can happen the amount of alertness is some what of a relief.
 
So how would you fix the problem then? Because so many people think that things can be changed with words when it comes to dealing with Terrorist.

Had they (notice I say "they" rather than "we") been doing this shit (random searches) since day 1, a lot of shit couldn've been prevented. A lot. But no, when shit goes down, immediately we are put on alert status to make us all feel at ease.

The politics in America today are not flawless- they are flawed. And this is coming from your average COLLEGE EDUCATED American that looks at things from many, many different aspects. To sit back and think that America's ways are superior to any other country- I'll tell you right now- "Wake the phuck up".

My pops served 26 years in the Air Force. NOT once did he tell me to enlist. I wouldn't anway. And the way shit is going in America right now with that clown, Bush, in presidency...he's glad he retired. And I'm glad I didn't enlist. I went the other route- College.

It was noticed. Back in 93 with the Clinton Administration.


Ummmm...I didn't see no change going on back in the Democratic Days when the World Trade Centers were bombed the first time.

I didn't see any tightening of the boarders when the USS Cole was bomb.

Nor did I see any tightening of Airport Security with all the Airlines that got blown up during the Clinton Administration.

As for enlisting...no one here asked you to enlist.

As for the politics being flawed......Flawed politics is passed down from one presidency to another. It's always up to the next to try to fix it.

But like always, when the shit hits the fan here in the states, the masses cry wolf, we come out with the shot gun to kill the wolf and the Masses cry on why we killed the wolf.

So again......if you know the secrete to killing the wolf, please......step up to the plate. And try to be realistic. Embargos, medical embargos, and cutting aid wont work. Heck...look at Cuba, need I say any more?

the word "could" sticks out to me.... I feel as leader of the free world he's obligated to do whatever he needs to do that "will" prevent terrorist attacks & save lives..... obviously this administation sucks at that.... :bangbang
 
In comparison to the last administration, only two incidents occured on his watch.

Now count the amount of incidents on President Clintons Watch.

I'm no Bush lover but you bash a President and you dont even look at his Track record. Jumpin onto the band wagon is not always a good thing to do. Research history of events and how he is dealing with it. Research is the key, because if you just hablando the Mierda just for spite....you aren't doing yourself any good.
 
I agree with you Reber, something more should have been done during the Clinton administration, but instead he was getting "favors" from interns in the oval office. I don't think the Patriot Act is a false sense of security because the fact is, they got in the first time and they will et in again i they arent already here. Terrorists dont wear t shirts saying hello I am a suicide bomber in case no one noticed. It could be anyone, the guy next to you on the subway, the woman in front of you at the grocery store. We dont have any way of knowing when or where they are going to strike next and that is the scariest shit in the world, with that said ..........SEARCH AWAY!!!!!

Each Administration has its issues....all I'm saying is, before we jump on a band wagon against a president, we should research "then and Now" administrations to see who is doing his best.

You might find some pretty interesting things out.

I consider the 3,500 dead on 9/11 & 1,500 american troops dead (so far) more than just 2 incidents....
