MC Hammer was booed at Beatstock and TKA performed when the sun was still out....need I say more.....

we started heading out when Hammer came on.... I don't have a prob with Hammer, just didn't have a need to see him @ a KTU Beatstock event..... and I noticed as we were only a few yards into the parking lot, I thought I heard Speedy from KTU talking already, like Hammer performed only for a quick minute.... hhhhhhhmmmm..... 🙂 I thought it waswierd from the start having him perform there, but booing him is unecasary, (not that walking out is much better) 🙂

lol it sucks that they booed MC HAmmer... (regardles of too Legit, PRay, Pumps n the bumps..) Cant Touch This was off da hook when it came out. I remember Whats her name who sings "You are my all in all"... got boooed in a Freestyle show in Miami last year.. cuz she was singing a gospel song that was 50 min long.... I felt bad for her or anyone gettin boooed.... awwww Damm im all nice and shit... lol

Joyce Simms is the one who sings "You Are My All in All"...but why was she singing a Gospel song at a Freestyle show???? If its a Freestyle showcase, it should be for Freestyle music. She should have saved the Gospel song for that Bobby Jones special on BET.

Those people were there to hear Freestyle music not Gospel lol. Sounds like she is going in the direction of Gospel Music (nothing wrong with that). But yeah, she could have saved it for Good Ol' Bobby Jones. :lol :silly
 
Well, she learned her lesson. When she was at Copa, she only did "You Are My (All & All)" No gospel.

I remember seeing Lydia Lee Love at Latin Quarters. She was at a freestyle show, but only has that one song, so she opened with Aretha Franklin's "Natural Woman"....I was like, "Hello????" it's a club/freestyle show, why sing a soul ballad???? They booed her there too, but like Joyce Sims, she won them back when she sang "Don't Take Your Love From Me".
 
If the headline specifies the kind of music played and people pay for their tickets to see it, they don't want to see and hear anything else. I mean its okay to explore other genres of music, but if there is a show that says "R&B Showcase" or "Freestyle Flashback" or even "Jazz Music Fest"....those are not the places to do it. I can see if the headline said something general like "Artists Showcase", it would be safe for them to promote their new material to the public. But to get booed like that, I could imagine how they felt -- noone wants to get booed from the very fans who admire them. 😉
