Thank you Naya you are the best. Enigma thank you Pa, let me know say this. I think the reason Freestyle went no where was or is because HOT 97 Abandon us. Every station follow Hot 97 in NY Z100, WPLJ 95.5, and even red Alert played Freestyle once and awhile on 98.7 kiss. Once HOT 97 change formats it put a HOLE in Freestyle. I don't think the Quality of music was the reason, I do admit that may it had something to do with it, but not responsible for the fading in our music. When Hot 97 left it put us Freestyle Artists, Producers, Labels, and Promoters underground and made it even harder to come back up.

Reggaeton was nothing here in NY, Yako and DJ Chucky (Which Chuky is on El Vacilon de la manana mon.-fri 97.9) was offer a spot on La Mega 97.9 about a year ago from 10pm-4am on Sunday nights to play Reaggaeton. The show was succesful that he was giving a better spot to from 6pm-10 Mon.-Fri and Yako got known. Just this past Saturday I went to the Reggaeton Concert thrown by Mix 107 in PR, La Mega 97.9 and Yako's show at Madison Square Garden which BTW the show was HOT! But thats the support we need.

I really hope Latino Mix 105.9 mix show picks up and they can get a better spot to expose Freestyle a Little more, Cause I know that from the Ghetto to the hoodlum, from a Person that has never heard freestyle to the person who thought that Freestyle was no longer made, to us the Freestyle Lovers will fall in love with Freestyle if they can hear it. Thats all we need is opportunity!!! And maybe we can save this music we all love.


If K7, TKA, Lissette Melendez, Cover Girls, Corina, and many others recieved Gold Records for the great sellings, then maybe we can reach higher standar with again opportunity!!

Like L.A.W. will sing "One More Chance"..lol...There's alot of good talent out here lets help each other in getting it exposed, Ashley is my sweetheart and hope she can reach that gold thats waiting for her aswell as for Grey, Nick, NI, Artie and Legit and many of us who have the spot, the love for this music. Music that gets played every where from Brazil to Sweden, From PR to France, From Japan to China, and all over the USA! 😱Damm it Vote me for President:yeey ..LMAO..sorry got carried away..lmao...

I agree with you Alex when Hot 97 changed formats freestyle songs had no where to go to so it kind this went underground cause mmore people started listening to rap. Punk master Flex mentioned something the other day which i actually remember from the time. There was a weekend in i think feburary before the augest that hot changed to rap that there was a big hot 97 meeting where they were deciding what music to format would they go rap or stay dance cause at that time HOt was playing both formats and that both sides were nervous and excited about what was happening.

IF YOU REMEMBER BACK FAR ENOUGH YOU CAN THINK OF A SONG BY TRILOGY CALLED "RED HOT".... THIS HAS TO BE THE WORST RECORDING ON VINYL I EVER HEARD BUT, THE SONG IS A JAMMMMM. DID THIS STOP TRILOGY FROM BECOMING AN OLD SCHOOL CLASSIC. THE SONG WAS HOT THEN AND THE RECORDING WAS OVERLOOKED.....EVEN THE RADIO PLAYED IT... DJ PRIME CUTS MENTIONED HE ISN'T FEELING IT(THE NEW SCHOOL) , WELL MAYBE IT'S THE QUALITY AND NOT THE MUSIC BECAUSE ALOT OF PEEPS TRY TO SAVE MONEY WHEN IT COMES TIME TO PRESS A RECORD AND DON'T SPEND MONEY ON MASTERING OR MIXING DOWN A FINISHED PRODUCT....YOU HAVE TO DO THIS PART....VERY IMPORTANT
 
Legend you are so right with the quality of things. Everybody has had there moments with cheesy music and corny productions back in the days, but it's the promotion of it and quality of it that made it known regardless how cheesy it was or if the vocals suck. you will over view everything, you wasn't skeptical. Now non of the artists of today are in the spotlight so now everybody finger points the errors, mistakes, the sound, the production, the vocals, everything. If this would've been done before do you think it would've change the industry? Think about, there's one artists from back in the days that could not sing for crap, but yet became a legend. I'm not going to say names, but hey it's true. Again is not the finger point that makes the difference it's YOU!
This thread has alot of intersting point and view. No arguing just experience what others have. Let's keep it positive!!!!

Thank you Nyasia for your complement. How great it was to share the stage with you in Buffalo and to see the crowd reaction. They didn't see us as old school or new school. They just respected us for who we are, freestyle artists. How can you call old, a form of music that was
born in the early eighty's and is now making it's way back? In that case, all the other genres of music that were here before us, must be sub divided into, ancient school and new school. LOL To me there is only one school, freestyle. If we look at the events that have been most successful this year, LatinoMix (playing classic and new freestyle music) and shows like The Wild Palm, featuring freestyle acts, "old and new." It is time for us to learn that through unity comes success.

You dont need the best voice to sing with feeling and passion,you can look at rap and see shitty rapping or nothing there.Same for pop/R&b etc..Freestle seems to be more heart felt, which is the most impotant thing in singig.Tats why you get a limited voice singer that many times,be better than a great voalist because the great vocalist lacks emotion!!!!I did listen to the second cd and found great vocals and excellent producing!Some excllent New School artists are(in no particular order)

there is talent in new school. artists such as NU IMAGE, NICK COLON, MANNY, ASHLEY and several others have it but the market just doesnt want to hear it.
