WE HAVE TO REMEMBER THIS SITE IS TO HELP EACH OTHER AND SUPPORT EACH OTHER TO BRING FREESTYLE BACK TO IT'S HEY DAY "SO SUPPORT OR ABORT". -DJ Legend Philly

PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOUR PRODUCERS WORK AT CREATING BEATS AND NOT SAMPLING PLANET ROCK ANYMORE . - DJ Legend Philly

Thats is exactly what I have been trying to say. It takes very little talent , if any, to sample someone elses work. To give you an idea of the lack of talent and/or creativity in OLD Skool: Lissette Melendez's First CD, same tired beat through out and then Corina comes out with the same tired beat, then Cynthia, then Voyce! LACK OF CREATIVITY, LACK OF TALENT. Not necessarilly by the singer but by the producer rendering that Freestyle Song Untalented. That is what I mean by NO Talent. If you dont understand what I mean then lets drop the subject and continue being a Freestyle Family.

Not to get off the subject here but, I just wanted to say to all the Artist thank you for your time answering or responding to the threads. You really don't see that type of fan dedication from some other so called celebrities. I think this is what makes Freestyle have such a strong fan base. The artist still remember they live on planet earth and are willing to listen to the fans opinion. So once again as a fan.
Thank you.:1luv

My two cents.....

I have to admit that I was always a fan of old school.

Old school was what made me love freestyle.

however, I must admit, when I want to hear freestyle now, I've been playing new school.

New Schoolers have my respect. It was easy to be in freestyle back in the days when freestyle was "new". Everyone wanted the sound, and multiple artists were able to get multiple songs on the charts.

New schoolers are pushing their product at a time when radio won't play freestyle, and the club djs won't spin new freestyle in their clubs.

The simple fact is that this is a matter of opinion. What DJ Prime Cuts may hate, I may love.

Here is my current list of what is in my cd player now. I don't consider any of them "old school":

Willie Valentin-"How I Love Thee"
Willie Valentin-"These Three Words"
Marisol-"The Begining Of The End"
Marisol-"Why Can't You Tell Me"
Nyasia-"True Love"
Nyasia-"If I Could See You Now"
Elissa-"Back To Me"
Nick Colon-"Careless"
Amante`-"Let's Get It on"
Synthia Figueroa-"You Were Meant For Me"
Synthia Figueroa-"Touch Me"
Sk8-"my Imagination"
Julissa-"A Player's Eyes"
Julissa-"I Must Go On"
Christine Marie-"Turn The Lights Down Low"
Christine Marie-"Turning Away"
Rockell-"Tears"
Zoe-"This Isn't Love Anymore"
Ashley-"Quit All Those GAmes"
Ashley-"When's It all Gonna End"
Phillip Anthony-"All Out Of Love"
Malyssa-"Reminisce"
Latin Nation-"Give In To Me"
Manny-"Love's Not That Easy"
Marline Miranda-"Praying 4 An Angel"
Ayna-"Day To Night"
Freeze-"Give Me"
Grey-"Never Surrender"

I never really heard any new freestyle. Can someone tell me where I can get a cd with all new songs on it?

Ok New school artists that have been here as long as the old

Just to show you how way back we are some of the New school era: 1988 at Father English aka Bingo hall Paterson, NJ where any Real Artists of our music was an artists if you performed there ask anybody in Paterson, NJ;

Willie Valentin and Michael Anthony Bertot aka All In performed in my home town (which I still have the Flyer and 2 pics of the show) when I first recorded my first Demo. When Nu Image was called Latin Image, I was called Latin Society then change our name to Reflxtions with my Demo of "Only Cries" produce by DJ Mate which later on became well known for doing music for various of artists such as George Lamond on his 1st Salsa Album and TKA's "Forever" album, When Marc Anthony was called Marco Antonio Muniz(which is the single he took out tittle "The Rebel"), when Artie Rodriguez was flooding the scenes, When Legit was part of FFWD with Nelson FFWD Cruz, when Lil Suzy was 9 years old, When Robbie was called 3rd tren then later split and Ralph & Tony became Onne Wai adding Chico to the group and Robbie became Robbie, When Rei Summers was and is the original Reinaldo, and When Karizma was Passaic, NJ.

There's many stories behind all of us which proved we have been on the scene as long as the old. Just Never push hard enough to be in front of the scene. But was still there, Like Willie say "We are Artists". We are consider New School, but yet have The history that support us. I will bet that each and everyone of the artists mention above can tell you that the way things are done now is totally different then what it used to be. Walking around with managers that cared and took care of us, carrying our 1/2 inch reels ("Fellas remenber that..dammm"), and having a huge show with acts that wasn't even known and never got the recognition they deserve. I remenber performing with Soave and nobody even knew him until he perform "Crying over U".

Every Artists from back and the days where treated equally, meaning there was no queens nor kings of "Latin Hip-Hop/Club Music" they were just artists that were doing there best to stay on top of the listening crowd, but funny how the underground artists got as much or even more respect then the artists that was performing on the radio. But again it Didn't matter it was music and everybody listen. We need to stop with the down grating and start being more dedicated respect every artists that 'IS WORKING HARD, WORKIING TO MAKING THE SONGS THAT YOU LOVE, THAT ARE DEDICATING TIME AND MONEY, THAT ARE DOING EVERYTHING POSSIBLE TO KEEP THIS GOING'! I also agree that there's alot of lacking Artists, lacking Producers, Lacking Promoters, laking of music going around, but Like Willie Val said back in the days there was also lack Artists, lack Producers, Lack Promoters, lak of music.

So lets try to be a little consider it of the true artists busting their butts to make this generation work, plus think about it do you think site or any sites would've exist if "Freestyle" would've been dead like some say? I don't think So! So let the music play enjoy and remember the 80's & 90's and lets look foward on 2004-and ON!!!!!!!

The problem here is this: All of the corny shit that is out and that is being pressed on compilation albums is overshadowing the good music and the real talent.

It would be wrong to critique and catergorize every new Freestyle song as "crap", when in all respects it's really not.

True, there is a lot of corny Freestyle out today, but there was also a lot of corny Freestyle back in the late 80's, early 90's.

Nuff Said! It was just an opinion. But I will say this. After reading everyone's posts here on this subject, I am DETERMINED to be more open to NEW Freestyle. Grey's comment actually opened my eyes.

IF YOU WORKED IN THE BIZZ, THEN YOU KNOW THE STORIES OF GETTING TAKIN FOR A DUMMY!!! RIGHT!!! WHAT YOU DON'T KNOW IS THEIR IS A COMPUTER PROGRAM OUT TODAY THAT IS CALLED "PROTOOLS" AND IT DOES ALL THE WORK
THAT WE AS PRODUCERS WOULD DO INTO THE WEE HOURS OF THE NIGHT TO GET YOUR SONG READY FOR THE WEEKEND SO YOU CAN GET YOUR FRIEND THE DJ AT THE CLUB TO PLAY IT... REMEMBER THOSE DAYS!!! WELL THAT IS OLD SCHOOL
FRRESTYLE !!!! THIS IS BACK WHEN PEOPLE TOOK INTEREST IN THEIR WORK AND SPENT TIME ON THE TRACKS... IF YOU GO FAR ENOUGH(1/2 INCH REELS)..
THEN YOUR BRINGING BACK TIMES WHEN WE AS PRODUCERS WOULD CUT THE TAPES AND SPLICE THEM TOGETHER FOR EDITS AND IF YOU MESSED UP ,YOU WERE OUT OF A JOB... SEE THE DIFFERENCE IN WORK PERFORMANCE ALREADY!!
THEY CAN MESS UP TODAY AND NOT WORRY. A COMPUTER PROGRAMMER CAN WORK A STUDIO TODAY AND NOT HAVE ANY TALENT FOR MUSIC, JUST KNOWS HOW TO PUSH BUTTONS. THIS IS NEW SCHOOL FREESTYLE BECAUSE THIS IS WHAT MOST STUDIOS HAVE BECOME... VERY SAD BUT TRUE......ON TOP OF THAT THEY HAVE A BUNCH OF CARDS THEY TAKE SOUNDS FROM AND USE ON YOUR SONG WHEN YOU ARE PAYING FOR THEM TO CREATE FOR YOU... THIS IS WHY ALOT OF SONGS SOUND THE SAME TODAY AND NOW YOU KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS SO NEXT TIME YOU GO TO THE STUDIO, MAKE SURE THEY PULL OUT THE BEAT MACHINES AND START WORKING THE KEYBOARDS OR STEP ASIDE BECAUSE YOU RENTED THE SPACE AND IT IS YOUR TIME......AND DO YOUSELF A FAVOR WHICH IS MOST IMPORTANT TODAY: " DON'T SIGN A CONTRACT THAT FORCES YOU TO PUT OUT A BUNCH OF SONGS IN A CERTAIN PERIOD OF TIME" BECAUSE THIS IS WHAT ALOT OF RECORD LABELS ARE DOING WITH DISTRIBUTION COMPANYS TODAY AND THIS IS A BIG MISTAKE FOR EVERYONE WHO MAKES MUSIC.... BEING PUT ON A TIMETABLE DOES NOT SPEED PERFECTION....

CLUBFOSSIL: THANKS
CHUCKD: NICE LIST OF WHAT I THINK OF AS NEW SCHOOL AND THANKS FOR THE LINKS
WILLIE: KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK
LATIN NATION: THANKS FOR THE FLASHBACKS
DJ PRIME CUTS: ENJOYED THIS TOPIC
GREY: I FEEL YOU ON THE PRICE OF RECORDING, SAVE MONEY AND BUY SOME EQUIP FOR THE HOUSE FOR ABOUT 1500.00. THIS WILL GET YOU STARTED AND YOU CAN ADD ON AS YOU GO ONE PIECE AT A TIME.

NOW TO PUT THIS SITE BACK ON TRACK FOR WHAT IT STANDS FOR: I HAVE JUST FINISHED MASTERING THE DULAIO TWINS ALBUM AND HAVE NEW MIXES OF OLD SCHOOL CLASSICS ON THERE AND SOME NEW SCHOOL TRACKS. I DON'T CONSIDER THE NEW SONGS OLD SCHOOL BECAUSE THEIR AN OLD SCHOOL GROUP.
IF AN OLD SCHOOL ARTIST DOES A NEW SONG DOES IT MEAN THE SONG IS OLD SCHOOL??? NO IT DOESN'T!!!! THEY WILL BE PRESSED IN THE NEXT FEW WEEKS AND HOPEFULLY THEY GET INVITED TO CARAMELO'S SHOW ON SEPT 1.
REMEMBER " I AM NOT JUST A DJ, I AM AN OLD SCHOOL HEAD FROM THE BEGINNING AND CAN WORK IN ALL AREAS OF MUSIC AND HAVE ALOT OF KNOWLEDGE TO TEACH OTHERS FROM PAST EXPERIENCES SO YOU DON'T MAKE MISTAKES OR BAD DECISIONS WITH THIS BIZZ....NOW I HEAR THE BREAK TO THE SONG COMING UP SO I HAVE TO GO MIX NOW........

SOOOO TRRUUEEEEEE

Oh my god Ted!!!! Pleeeeease there are some rap out there that needs to gooooooo!:mad lol........😛

YOU ARE SO RIGHT LABETTYBOOP BUT, RAP IS THE NEW GAME TODAY AND THE KIDS DON'T CARE AS LONG AS IT'S RAP AND IT'S LOUD.THEY DON'T EVEN WATCH THE DJ WHEN HE IS SCRATCHING RECORDS SO MOST DJ'S JUST THROW ON A CD AND GO DRINK AT THE CLUBS, AT LEAST WHEN IT WAS FREESTYLE THEY WERE IN THE BOOTH WORKING THEIR A$$ OFF BECAUSE THEY ENJOYED MIXING FREESTYLE BECAUSE IT IS THE HARDEST FORM OF MUSIC TO MIX AND YOU NEEDED TO KNOW WHAT YOU WERE DOING BACK THEN AND TODAY YOU CAN JUST DROP A RECORD AND THEY DON'T CARE....AND IF PEOPLE WANT TO TALK ABOUT FREESTYLE SOUNDING THE SAME , THEY SHOULD TALK ABOUT HOUSE MUSIC BECAUSE IT IS A SIMPLE KICK AND A BASS LINE , MY 9 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER IS ALREADY MIXING HOUSE MUSIC BECAUSE IT'S THE SAME BEAT FOR EVERY SONG AND SHE JUST DROPS THE RAP FROM ONE SONG TO THE NEXT.. AND FREESTYLE SHE CAN'T GET THE HANG OF YET....BY THE BY SHE LIKES AND MORE'S SONG.

I HAVE A 9 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WHO IS ALREADY MIXING HOUSE AND RAP AND FINDS FREESTYLE TO BE HARD BECAUSE YOU HAVE TO LISTEN TO THE WHOLE RECORD FOR THE BREAK UNLESS IT DOESN'T HAVE ONE , THEN THE DJ HAS TO THINK OF SOMETHING... YES FREESTYLE MUSIC REQUIRES THE DJ TO THINK WHEN MIXING AND HOUSE OR RAP DOESN'T AND THE KIDS DON'T CARE HOW THEY ARE MIXED EITHER... JUST ABOUT EVERY CLUB I GO TO TODAY ALL I HEAR IS THE DJ TRAINWRECKING AS I CALL IT...
MY DAUGHTERS(8-9) REFER TO FREESTYLE MUSIC NEW OR OLD SCHOOL AS OLD PEOPLES MUSIC ... THEY DON'T SEPARATE THEM INTO NEW AND OLD AND NEITHER SHOULD WE BECAUSE IT IS FREESTYLE AND WE NEED TO SUPPORT OUR CULTURE 1000%++++++++ IF YOU DON'T LIKE SOMETHING THEN MAKE A SUGGESTION ON HOW THEY CAN MOVE FORWARD....

Alex if you recall, that was aslo the first time I ventured off of "ALL IN" and performed solo for the first time, but "Now & Forever" was titled "With one touch" then Nelson Cruz changed the title.

As for New school artist, soniya, marisol, ashley nick colon, these people have great songs, maybe the production doens;t seem right to you, because as a Dj you may hear something different in your ear
than what the producer was hering at the time he did it. sometimes I hear things that I think should be in a song, but they don't, it's just a matter of opinion, and different ears, but i think especially the ones i have mentioned are extremely talented., as well as Synthia Figueroa. I love Old School, but only because it was in my era and it was played so much tat the songs grew on you, even the extremely cheesy ones!.lol, so we made memories to them, we connected things in our lives with specific songs, but now, you don't hear freestyle on the radio as much or in clubs, so you can't make memories to them, and think fondly on them. I bet alot of the old school that is liked is extremely cheesy, but because of what they click in you, you might still like them. Anyway what I am tryign to say is that, there is talent out there, just not heard as much. and to tell you the truth, some of these Nu shcools kick some of the old schools ass. ALthough I will always love my old school I will also support the nu school.

Damm Nyasia I remenber that wow, I totally forgot that...Thanx for the memories and your hard work hun. hugzzz miss U!

I forgot about my girl Grey too, and Nuiamge is cool too, Angel Mena, Manny!😉 I mean there is good stuff out there, just not alot of listening venues. Thank you too Alex my brotha😉

WELL DJLEGEND IM NOT TRYING TO BE A PRODUCER SO THE EQUIPMENT WOULDNT BE OF USE TO ME AT THIS TIME.....IM A SINGER AN ARTIST AND ARTIE RODRIGUEZ PRODUCED MY SONG AND YES HE USED HIS KEYBOARDS.....HAD ME DYING HOW HE RAN FROM THE KEYBOARDS AND RAN BACK TO HIS COMP THEN BACK AGAIN....HE BRINGS OUT GOOD QUALITY AND I WAS IMPRESSED HOW WELL THE SONG SOUNDED....BUT THEN AGAIN IT ALL BOILS DOWN TO MONEY TO PAY HIM FOR THE NEXT TRACK OR EVEN FOR THE SONGS I WROTE.....

BUT LIKE I SAID IM TRYING REALLLL HARD TO BRING OUT GREAT SONGS SO YALL CAN START NEW MEMORIES.....UNDERSTAND THAT LIFE IS JUST ONE BIG MEMORY SO THE WAY YOU REMEMBER THE OLD YOU WILL REMEMBER THE NEW.....

ONE LUV AND GOD BLESS.......
