dj - i totally agree with you.

as much as people seem to love latinomix 105.9, i have to change it when they get into the new school stuff. i just can't get into it, i just can't.

sorry no school, but i still wish u the best of luck.

If we took a vote today from the thoulsands of CF members asking
what they prefer. Old school will win.

BUT

We got several Key New School Players who have the Ability to rank up there with the Old school artists.

What we need to do is give them the confidence that they need to
keep plugging away.

These new school artists have a TUFF ACT to follow. I give them
credit and will help them in any way I can. Just ask!!

Let's not forget that the new schoolers bust there @$$ to bring you continuous freestyle like the old schoolers!

U know what the old school will always hold a special place in our hearts but i disagree. A real freestyle fan whould love the new stuff to. Maybe if they got into the hands of real producers the New school artists whould have a chance. I think most of these new school producers wouldnt even come close to the original Freestyle producers like Tony MOran and the latin Rascals, TOdd Terry, Mickey Garcia (in the past because right now he has produced a hit recently. Imagine Ashely Produced by Little Louie Vega she would be the next India. I personally like many of the new school producers but talent wise they dont compare to the likes of ALbert Caberra.

lmao@betty

What I'm saying is even Rap & Hip/Hop has changed it's sound over the years but it's still called Rap & Hip/Hop.

I love the Freestyle of old Hell, I was there in the 80's Dancin my ass off at the clubs, But let's face it times have changed and I hate to Freestyle in general be punish for not being able to keep up.
If there are some bad seeds ok weed them out don't punish the Freestyle genre.

Oh my god Ted!!!! Pleeeeease there are some rap out there that needs to gooooooo!:mad lol........😛

there are exceptions to the vast opinion that new school doesnt compare..to the old..angel menya "think about us" who i got the chance to meet outside bloosoms last week..i love this guys work and played it off like i didnt know who he was .. or of his songs..just two guys talking about drinks that will really put you under..i found it impresive that he not once asked me "do you know who i am..what i sing'?? real humble..after about twenty minutes bullshiting with him i said..ive got to go inside and talk to naya.say goodbye..he said you know naya? i said yes and i now know you..and i love youre songs bro..he laughed and pointed at me like "ahhhhh aight!!" i think hes one of the best of the new school...manny rivera..the most underestimated..new school singer of these times.."loves not that easy" is a song that is up there with any old school classic..that boy got talent..if it plays in my car..its all good..and i play that song constantly ..he needs better promotion..not manny i mean many people know of him but the kid is nice!! best kept secret in new school..nyasia shes kinda in the middle between old school leaning more to the new..by far one of my favorite divas..no scratch that she is..it still baffles me how all the remakes get air play..some no names remaking this song or that..and only those in the freestyle community really know of her.i dare say its blasphemy that her songs are not played on radio stations claiming to support freestyle on a regular basis "i fEEL" IS A BOMB SONG!! that has yet to be released from its bay of the underground onto the mainstream..its such a bangin song i cant understand how ive never heard it on the air..so is "if i could ser you now" clear touch its "clear" that somethings wrong when theses guys arent in constant rotation.on any station claiming to play or support freestyle..DJ paradise..freestyles answer to funk master flex period.. bad boy who?? nooooo DJ paridise sits on the kings throne of freestyle djs!!!! another shadow in modern freestyle..only really known by those of us that still follow freestyle..that shoud not be..this brother has me rewinding and saying "wow"!!! i wish i thought of that..he makes me want to start dj ing again

well ima say this str8 up without a shatter of a doubt old skool is thee BEST!! and will always be in our hearts, BUT! just bcuz one has a thing for the 80's or as some say stuck in it doesnt mean that things just ends there as we all know when the old goes out the new comes in right? for freestyle, when those old skool singers did their thing back in the days u knew that was the shit, that was thee time to remember and as johhny o once said in one of his interviews "for those that have those hits on vinyl from back in the days u were having a collector's addition" the 80's freestyle hits is somethin u wouldnt even dare to sell to no one but as we all know things were comin to a change and someone down the line had to know that

for the media in general who didnt want to give credit where credit is due esp to freestyle i got 2 words for u f*ck ya!!

now bcuz of such artist not gettin any radio play or commercial time like b4 doesnt mean that u now gotta hate the new stuff comin out also although like everyone is sayin in here that u entitle to ur own.....ok but u also gotta realize that the new skool singers have mad skills too enuff to say they deserve their props and i notice that alot, in the singers i saw at wild palm ( so special shoutout to all the nu skool i saw that day at wild palm 😉)

anyways as for me im a 80's freak also i love the old shit back in the days from disco, ballads, pop to softrock etc etc....u cant compare the old stuff with the new material thats out today i mean thats a big no no but thats why u have these new ideas thats put into progress thats why u have these nu skool singers doin their thing today cuz they wanna keep freestyle alive and thats why we as fans gotta be happy about :biggrin and be supportive to them

like kc from clear touch said at wild palm, which i thought was so cool "we gotta pass the mic to the nu skool of today cuz they are the ones thats gonna keep the legacy goin" enuff said on that note

🙂 WELL..AS AN OLD SKOOL DJ..I CAN HONESTLY SAY I ENJOYED THE 80'S..BUT SOME(HANDFUL)OF THESE NU SKOOL CATS ARE DEFINITELY WORKING HARD ON THE FREESTYLE..I REALLY DONT CARE TO GO TO ANOTHER CONCERT, IF I HAVE TO SEE THE SAME 5 ACTS OF THE 80'S.."THEY ARE TIRED"..I WANNA ALSO SEE THE ORGINAL QUEEN OF FREESTYLE "LISA LISA",BUT U GOTTA SNEAK MANNY-MARISOL-DENGEL-ASHLEY-CARAMELO-SYNTHIA-FREEZE-GREY-NICK COLON-ZOE-VOCAL IMAGE-ANGELINA UP IN THERE TO SHOW THE FLAVA OF FREESTYLE IS STILL THERE..😱 I DO AGREE,THEY MUST WORK WITH QUALITY PRODUCERS,CAUSE MOST OF THE NU TRACKS SOUND GENERIC..I LIKE MY FREESTYLE TO BE IN THE 125BPM..AREA..SOME STUFF I AGREE TO TOO FAST FOR ME TO CONSIDER FREESTYLE..ALMOST HITTING A TRANCE BEAT..I WISH NOTHING BUT THE BEST FOR THE NU SKOOL..THEY HAVE MY ATTENTION..😛

Alright, its obvious I've stirred emotions here. Some Have gone as far as to discredit me as a DJ, thats fine, its America. But I feel i have to make some clarification. I'll even write in capital letters. NOT ALL (REPEAT) NOT ALL NEW SKOOLERS ARE UNTALENTED and by new I dont mean just the singers. Freestyle is a term we use to describe our genre of music, and it stands for more than just singers of our favorite music, it also means Producers of our favorite music, Writters of our favorite music, Promoters of our favorite music etc. So when i say Freestyle please understand that I am talking also of these groups. To clarify, I also mentioned in my first thread Synthia Figueroa, a talented individual, (lovely voice, as well as eye candy by the way) but I honestly think she's is in he wrong hands as far as producers. And to show Im not being partial, 301 East's remake of Latin Love is slammin. I Love it, Nick Colon's Careless off the hook, as well as Nu Image's Tears in my eyes. So once again, NOT ALL NEW FREESTYLE is bad. Maybe thats not how I came across the first time but this is truly what I meant.

As far as the quality of music goes,
I don't remember any artist nailing every song they came out with, we just have to take the good with the bad... hopefully more good.
Hell if we abandoned what we like just cause a couple of bad songs Damn every artist would be out of business.

Gotta disagree with u there dawg. lol
There were some good acts that never made a shakey track (Nayobe, India, George Lamond) or just got better & better with time (Cynthia, Judy Torres).

I think I get your main pt. tho, there is a much higher number of acts that came out that could never sing to begin with. lol

WELL AS ONE OF THE ARTIST OF THE NU SKOOL ERA I HAVE TO SAY IT IS VERY HARD TO COME ACROOS THESE SO CALLED GREAT PRODUCERS, YOU HAVE TO HAVE THE MONEY IN ORDER TO GET A CHANCE TO WORK WITH THEM, ONE PRODUCER AND ILL SAY NO NAMES OFFERED TO PUT MUSIC TO A SONG I WROTE HE EVEN TOLD MY MANAGER THAT IT WOULD BE A FREE BEE BUT NOW THAT HE IS GRAMMY STATUS HE HAS NO TIME FOR ME...

YOU ALL HAVE TO UNDERSTAND THAT THE ARTIST ARENT ALL RICH AND SOMETIMES WE HAVE TO SETTLE FOR WHAT WE CAN AFFORD AT THE MOMENT...THINK ABOUT IT TO MAKE A DEMO WITH PHARREL HE CHARGES 25G'S AND UP TO RECORD WITH MISSY AND TIMBERLAND THEY WANT 15G'S AND UP.....I DONT KNOW ABOUT YOU BUT I HAVE 2 KIDS THAT ARE GONNA GO TO COLLEGE SOON ENOUGH SO THATS WHERE MY MONEY IS......

NOW IF THESE SO CALLED GREAT PRODUCERS WOULD JUST LOWER THEIR PRICES OR WORK OUT SOME KIND OF PLAN MAYBE WE CAN GIVE YOU GUYS THE GOOD STUFF YALL WANT TO HEAR.....BUT WE ALL KNOW THEY WONT.....BUT AS FAR AS VOCAL TALENT PLEASE DONT GO THERE BECAUSE I AM STILL TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHO TOLD JLO, LUMIDEE, KHIA, AND A FEW OTHERS THAT THEY CAN ACTUALLY SING? BUT EVERYONE IS ON THEM LIKE THEY SOME GREAT NEW FIND......

YOU WANT REAL VOCAL TALENT LETS TALK ABOUT WHITNEY, MARIAH, PATTY, ARETHA, STEPHANIE, KELLY, AS FOR FREESTYLE SHYT NYROBE, GEORGE, FREEZE, POSE, ANGEL, JUDY IS GREAT BUT I WANT TO HEAR THE NEW STUFF.......ETC ALSO IF YOU CAN SING IN ACAPELLA AND HIT THEM NOTES WITHOUT ANY PROB THEN U HAVE TALENT.....I CAN SING FOR THOSE THAT DONT KNOW AND LIKE I SAID ILL GO HEAD TO HEAD WITH ANY OF THE OLD SKOOL SINGERS IN ACAPELLA WITHOUT A PROB.....NYA AND JOHNNY CAN TELL YOU THIS I SANG TO THEM IN ACAPELLA AND ILL DO IT AGAIN.....DONT DOUBT ME IM HERE TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN MUSIC ALSO ALL THIS SHYT ABOUT WHO GOT TALENT AND WHO DONT MAKES YOU WANT TO GO INTO OTHER MUSIC LIKE RNB AND POP AND SALSA AT LEAST THERE I DONT BE READING THIS DRAMA.........SORRY IF I HAVE OFFENDED ANYONE BUT DAMN GIVE US NEW SKOOL ARTIST A CHANCE.....AND IF YOU FEEL WE NEED BETTER REP THEN COME ON DOWN AND PAY FOR IT FOR US AND WE WILL KICK ASS.....FEEL ME!

ONE LUV AND GOD BLESS.......

AS I MENTIONED BEFORE, NO MATTER WHAT IS SAID SOME ONE PERSON WILL ALWAYS HAVE AN OPINION SO HERE IS MINE AND IT IS FOR DJ PRIME CUTS:
I WONDER IF THE NU SCHOOLERS ARE FEELING YOUR MIXES?????? SEE HOW EASY THAT IS! AS FAR AS NU SCHOOL IS CONCERNED I AM PROBABLY ONE OF THE ORIGINAL DJ'S TO SUPPORT FREESTYLE IN THE 80'S AND I WILL TELL YOU THIS AND IT HAS ALREADY BEEN SAID BY CLUBFOSSIL AND I SAID IT BEFORE:" SAME ACTS SAME SONG SAME SHOW SAME CD COMPILATION ".....
I AM TIRED OF THIS. JUST THIS PAST WEEKEND I WAS LISTENING TO SOME TRUE OLD SCHOOL FLAVOR(SOMETHING MOST WOULDN'T KNOW ABOUT) FOR EXAMPLE: J.E.M.E., SONYA BAINES,SORAYA, I WILL STOP THERE BECAUSE I CAN GO ON FOR A LONG TIME. TRY SELLING A COMPILATION OF THESE ARTIST AND EVERYONE WILL PROBABLY SAY DID YOU HEAR THE NEW FREESTYLE OUT?
WELL GETTING BACK TO NU SCHOOL " KEEP UP THE WORK YOU ARE PUTTING IN BECAUSE WITHOUT YOU FREESTYLE WILL BE OLD AND WITH YOU IT STAYS NEW AND FRESH WITH NEW TALENT AND PLEASE PUT AT LEAST 30 SECS BEFORE YOU COME IN AND 30 SECS BEFORE YOU END YOUR SONG OF JUST MUSIC AND YOU WILL GET MORE PLAYING TIME WITH DJ'S. REMEMBER DJ'S WILL PLAY YOUR SONG IF THEY CAN WORK WITH IT. THIS IS A MUST IF YOU WANT EXPOSURE IN THE CLUBS AND STREETS OR EVEN RADIO WHEN THEY DO MIXED SETS.
WE HAVE TO REMEMBER THIS SITE IS TO HELP EACH OTHER AND SUPPORT EACH OTHER TO BRING FREESTYLE BACK TO IT'S HEY DAY "SO SUPPORT OR ABORT".
AND ON ANOTHER NOTE: PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOUR PRODUCERS WORK AT CREATING BEATS AND NOT SAMPLING PLANET ROCK ANYMORE . IF THEY DON'T WANT TO DO IT THEN CONTACT ME AND I'LL HOOK YOU UP WITH SOMETHING NICE

🙂 WOW..I JUST FELL IN LOVE WITH GREY ALL OVA AGAIN..NICELY SAID..REMEMBER "I'LL NEVER SURRENDER"..FREESTYLE FOREVER 😱

😛 SUP..LEGEND..I CAN'T IMAGINE THE SIZE OF YOUR COLLECTION,BUT I KNOW ITS HUGE..LOL..AND YES NU SKOOLERS..I HAVE HEARD HIS BEATS,AND THEY ARE AWESOME..GREAT NU FREESTYLE WITH AN OLD SKOOL FLAVA..AND MY GOD U CAN DANCE TO IT..LOL..:lol

Old school freestyle is great. The only advantage the old school has are memories!!!! Most of us here grew up to that music. Thats why we think of it as the best. It was all over the radio, in the clubs, etc. Dont take away anything from the new school just because its not the "IN" music anymore. I am from the old school. Have been producing since 1987. Recorded the demos for Nyasia, Clear Touch and many other old school artists as well. I love FREESTYLE period. Alot of you here consider me "New School". You're way off. I have produced old school freestyle and continue to produce the new school freestyle with pride. I have been an artist and performed in various clubs since 1987. Trust me I have been around for a minute!!!

As far as this thread talks about "NO TALENT IN NEW SCHOOL" I laugh.

How many old school artists and producers were bad back in the days? I know for a fact that songs I used to jam to back in the days, I listen to them now and say.."damn they cant sing for shit!" and that goes for production as well. We've had bad or no talent in the old school and new school. Lets just get rid of the bad period!!!! Support quality FREESTYLE MUSIC!!!!!

I see that the fans who diss the new school are straight up old school kats in my age group who cant let go of the 80's (thats why I did that skit in my parade 2k1 cds) Thats fine. Keep your memories, but just because the new school doesnt sound like the 80's freestyle dont take away credit from the new school. In reality I dont consider myself old school or new school. I am a FREESTYLE PRODUCER AND ARTIST PERIOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dang,

You know I went back waaaaaayyyy back, and have to agree with Willie V and Grey. Old school freestyle had some very good songs and some not so good that got radio play because old school was very "IN" at the time. I won't mention any names, but like Willie Said about some old school... "he\she cannot sing worth a crap" that was funny Willie, you brought back alot of memories with that quote.

Later Simon

"New School" means nothing to me.

New School style = Carlos Berrios's creation. This is what I name "New School".

In "your" New School genre, there is a bunch of Old School artists & songs. I've heard that some people think that because this song or that artist was created after a certain date/year, this is automatically called "New School".

In our days, all the new artists are considered as "New School" singers. Stupid!

PS: Willie, you are right! 😉
