I just got the Jag blue diamond label issue which I always thought was the original 1st issue 12". I reviewed my Top Hits copy which I always thought was a 2nd press because it credits JAG, but I know now I am wrong. The JAG copy has the Top Hits runout groove of TH-106 which mean this JAG copy was pressed after the top hits issue.
When reading the Jag label, I noticed the words ORIGINAL mix, ORIGINAL radio, ORIGINAL dub which got me thinking and confirming that it it cannot be a first issue. Was there ever a FIRST jag issue? Why would they be usuing the word "original" to something that was never out before???
I also got to thinking that this JAG issue also has a very bootleggy look to it. Could it have been a bootleg? Also on this JAG issue the label has a cat # of AER-106 which is the cat prefix of Angel Eyes Records & Filmworks which I don't believe was around in '86.
So here's where I'm going with this....
Does anybody know for sure when the blue jag label issue 12" came out???
I can't help but think could there be a possibility that when DG got picked up from Atlantic/Warner Bros, which gave us THEIR 1st issue with bonus beats, it got deleted and replaced probably pretty quickly with the common "disco/emu" mixes? Perhaps of the keyboard stabs sounding awefully similar to Art of Noise's "Momemts In Love"??? Maybe because the top hits & 1st atlantic releases were gone, maybe joe granda decided to do a boot of the original release, thus jag copy?
So again where I'm going is IF this was released as #2 or #3 after atlantic?
