How the hell is everyone?

My question is this,
What is the timeline that distinguishes Old School Freestyle from New School, or is it a new sound?

If we are referring to new artist, Who are some of the artist?

I always refered to Artist like Judy Torres, Safire, Tka, as old school But I just had a conversation where someone stated Alvendia was New school but had no real reason why. What's your opinion?

:confused :bangbang

i think anyone that became an artist after the mid 90s is considered new skool...now if an artist like stevie b who is old skool has a song after the mid 90s its a new skool song done by an old skool artist...thats my take on the whole new skool old skool thing...i use the mid 90s as my marker

hmm, an interesting debate but everyone seems to have their own opinion about this.
cf's "history of freestyle" says "new school" began in 1991 but lisette melendez & corina's sound that year is still different from nowadays. freestyle did make a 2nd major evolution anyway, after "take me in your arms".
so i dont know, if you want a timeline then we know freestyle done after 1992 is definitely not old-school. but new school - its kinda a different story i think. collage - i'll be loving you came out 1993 (correct me if im wrong) which isn't old school, but i dont hear people refer to that song as a new school song very often.

i guess i'll say the new school freestyle is probably the newer sound then i guess, not a timeline in the 90s. to be extra safe and sound i'd agree with gina, anything after mid-90s has to be new-school.

Well most artists and songs (even by "old skool" artists) that came out after the mid 90s has that different sound to them...that's why I use it as my marker 😛

yeah it's also the sound.. but i think it started changing somewhere in the mid-nineties.. to me anyway, that's the line between new and old
