For those in the know, the LP is finished! For those that don't now what I'm talking about, well, a while back I posted an offer on the Freestyle sites in effect giving a shot to new comers an opportunity to record a demo at my studio. Well, although many responded only a few committed. But the project turned into something else altogether when the Kings and Queens of this music offered their services. Now that project is finished and a few new artists have tracks side by side with several dance music legends. So the line up goes a little something like this: "Don't Ever Say" by Lisette Melendez, "What Is Love" by George Lamond, "The Jump Off" by K7, "Rescue Me" by Julie Carrozzi, "Let It Go" by Miles Petty, "I Need a Lover" by Lisette Melendez, a TKA reunion, and more. All brand new never before heard tracks that I produced as carefully as any other record I've worked on in my career. As of now the CD will also feature an international edit battle where the editors were assigned certain tracks to tear apart any way they saw fit. I'll be cutting a track myself to lead off the battle. The artwork is now being worked on and will be called Carlos "After Dark" Berrios Vol. 1, although that could change. I'm writing all this down because I'm curious as to the response to this unprecedented project. This project, the first of two, will be offered exclusively on the internet. More details to come. Drop me a line and give me your thoughts.

Well i will say first to those people who didnt commit you better kiss the man's ass to let you back in.

Not to sound rude but i rather hear up and coming artists. But now that wont happen cause i'll be stuck listening to artists ive heard before.

Looks like there is going to be alot of new music coming out soon 😉

As every year many Freestyle projects are announced, but in reality only a few are released. Hope this one will go somewhere...this year!
The project is certainly finished but Carlos Berrios didn't give any release date, even if it seems to be an Internet project only.
Of course, I will be very happy to see it quickly, whatever the support (Internet or CD) because I'm a HUGE fan of Carlos Berrios's work.😀

This compilation has been announced too soon. It will be only available in a few months. Carlos Berrios is still working on it...So, we will need to be patient. There is no release date at the moment, but the comp should be available through Internet downloading and on audio CD.
I'm sure Carlos Berrios will do an official announcement on the different Freestyle websites when the project will be completely DONE. 😉

Funny thing with iTunes/Digital Downloads - many of the labels are starting to follow releasing an album via digital first before pressing. Universal just did that with the Jets last album that dropped a couple months ago.. try to promote that to those in the old school frame of mind that want a CD and you tell them they have to download it. UGH! I like CDs and all, but I find that I download more music through iTunes than anything.

call me old fashioned but I still enjoy buying a cd. Perhaps when I upgrade my car stereo to the mp3 crap I may behave in a different frame of mind but for now, I would like to hold in my hand when Im listening to. 🙂

i was with george lamond not to long ago and let me tell you this album is no joke, people are gonna love it, trust me...ktu may even add a song in it's rotation when the album drops...

Sorry no i rather hear an album that is made up of 100% unknown singers. If i wanted a compliation of artists ive already know then i'll go purchase some old comp.

I have good feelings about it. This MAY BE what FreeStyle needs.

I agree with you 100% and you have a good point.

No offense to the old school freestyle artists - its good that they are working on coming out with new stuff...but I feel as though the new school artists are not even being GIVEN THE CHANCE to shine. Its like the spotlight is being taken away from them. And I for one know how that feels, since I'm young and trying to make it in this world.

Its hard. really hard to give new school artists a chance. the music execs see the crowds they pull and its not what they want to see. Some artists have great potential but need a lot more than an opening act at a huge venue. they need radio airplay, lots of it, in order to get a great response from millions, not just the few 100's that are the sites. Its a rough industry.

Sounds like its gonna be slamming. Dont see how radio (ktu) will add the songs to radio rotation if its not gonna be commercially release in stores. Even though I am old school and have to have the cd or album if Itunes would get radio airplay i am all for it.
