Wow! That's happening everywhere now. Do alot of people have dogs in the co-op where you live? If they do, Keep the dog. They would have to get rid of ALL dogs in the Co-op.

Now if it's something you don't want to take a chance with, then you may want to consider giving the dog away.

Not true. I'm closing this Monday, and the paperwork says you can't move in with a dog. It also says if you already live there and have a dog it's fine. ( I guess in the past you were allowed to have dogs) But it also says once the dog passes away you can't replace it. So it goes by the rules now. Those people probably had the dogs before that was implemented.

Wow if you really love your dog then keep it and look for a place that accepts dogs. They do have them, it is just very difficult to find but i know that i love my dog and when i have to move, like i just did, i asked the realtor to find me a pet friendly building and that is what happened. I will get rid of my dog when he dies and then I will not get another because it is a big responsiblity, especially since he is a boxer and its hard to find dog sitters when i travel. Good luck with your choice, try to find him a loving home at least.

Get rid of it Jazzy. Don't let an emotional attachment to your dog ruin your chances at getting the co-op. Read the contract, 'cause if you sneak the dog in after a couple of weeks and they see you with it, it just might be a breach of contract. And that's not good.

Hell no!!!! Why put her to sleep??? You guys nuts???? Just give it away to a nice caring family. There are shitloads that want dogs. Go place ads.

Another option may be to call children's hospitals or senior citizen homes. Sometimes, they will keep animals, and use them as "pet therapy" for the children or seniors in their care. The dog would be taken care of, and many people would benefit from her.
