i agree with Rhoq on each and every post he does. The reason that the younger crowd does not partake in the bliss that once was freestyle is because it is just that... "the bliss that once was" what do you hear on the radio most of the time? not freestyle... and if you don't live in NY and you request freestyle they laugh at you or say something along the lines of "Who you wanna hear, Jay-z???" teens aren't exposed to this type of music like we once were and the younger once who are only listen to it when their older siblings or family members decide to listen to their old tapes... in my city, freestyle is equal to a 3 letter word to the younger crowd and those who choose to listen are only interested in 2 artists, Lil' Suzy and/or Stevie B... they don't want to listen to music they know nothing of, only what they know, and if hip-hop, r&b, or rap is all they know because of radio exposure then that's what they will listen to... not "that corny g@* $h!t" as they simply like to call it... face it, to reach the younger crowd you would have to have massive radio exposure (which there isn't), videos (which are basically extinct), and NEW music and leave the old stuff behind... freestyle is unerground and it will cotinue to be so...

Instead of blasting the classics out our cars and our homes, we need to blast the s#$% that we have that doesn't get any airplay....make people ask 'what's that song' and 'who sings that'....i'm not saying to abandon the classics, just play the new shit as well

My brothers & sister have listen to freestyle music for a long time and they have past it down to me. I am one of the young generation who loves freestyle music. Once i heard the music i love it i could not get it out of my life once i heard it. I think it sad that not many teens know about freestyle muisc all they know it what they hear on the radio these days. One thing is for sure is that i'm not got going to forget freestyle muisc not till the end. Freestyle 4 life

I'll tell you something, my 10 month old daughter is gonna to grow up listening to freestyle music and it will be up to her if she wants to continue the tradition. I don't think I'll ever outgrow freestyle.

in order for freestyle to make a comeback its needs to evolve..it needs to be reinvented...artist old school and new need to stop remaking.or remixing the classics and just invent a new form..take for example..hip hop..its evolved..alot of the roots is still there but its evolved into something that cant be stopped now..although run dmc or grand master flash would not exactly rock a party now alot of the new artist have those roots to work with and create new sounds or styles..this is what freestyle needs to do..new tracks with decent lyrics..decent production and promotion..theres plenty of bullshit "dance" on the mainstream now that is successful mostly on promotion and not necesserily on "good music"..its like a few lines repeated over and over and over..im like "dam when is this bulshit song gonna be over..but they got people running out to buy!!while ill admit the pluse is low and is almost at flatline..it will take a little creativity and originality to make the ressurection of freestyle possible!!we cant bring back "those days" but we can reinvent it..theres alot of house or techno.playing now on the mainstream that is absolutely horrible..but nevertheless on the mainstream..freestyle with the correct promotion and a fresh new perspective should be able to snuff those both catagories out no
problem!! we need to stop trying to bring back the past and to move
foward with a new and improved freestyle..thats the only way!! otherwise were going to be stuck in the "back to the future" mode
that freestyle is in now...the next freestyle act to make a remix or
remake should be shot on the spot..no trail no jury..the ingredients
of freestyle need to be changed.(god please never again another
song to be made with the "planet rock" back beat!!!) its stale now
with no new flavor..we need to change the spices to make a new
freestyle with a new taste!!!🙂 if we continue to settle for
the "classics" and a thousand remakes of those..then were just stuck
in time..no progression foward!! I love the classics..im as "old school" as they come..been there from the evoultuion from hip hop and dance into the fusion which became freestyle..i was into freestyle before anyone even knew who TKA was!!i was into hip hop before RUN DMC put thier first pair of addidas on!!but the two forms of music evolved in two totally different directions..hip hop has thrived while freestyle has withered into a dry plant..plant new seeds for freestyle and watch it grow again!!🙂 and jack youre right no more bitching or whining..either love freestyle and support it and do something productive to make it better or shut the f**K UP!!IF YOU CAN MAKE SOME NEW SOUNDS AND SHOW US ALL HOW IT SHOULD BE THEN GO FOR YOURS...ILL BE THE FIRST ON LINE TO BUY YOUR CD!! IF NOT WELL THEN PLEASE..BE QUIET!!

uh, ever hear of angelina, adrianna? many teens became huge fans of theirs, but i guess you, wherever you live, haven't heard of it along with the rest of the people in your city. but in san francisco, sacramento, stockton, modesto, fresno, texas and other places, artists like these were very popular among the younger crowd.
and when you say we no longer hear freestyle on the radio, you have to look beyond that. it is not just freestyle. dance music in general took a big hit when hip hop alternative and other forms of music became big. outside of new york and miami, you don't hear much dance, whether it be freestyle, house, or trance.
in order for freestyle to make a comeback its needs to evolve
going back to what i said- ever hear of angelina, adrianna, jocelyn enriquez, rosalinda, sharyn maceren? freestyle has evolved, you just either didn't know or didn't accept it.

actually, the term is now being "confused" to the dj's

not really, kids use it more often than us now. they use it to refer to "hip-hop" rap styles.

i know, Kenny, but i was refering to this kind of freestyle... as for all the west coast acts comin out now, they are recognized by myself but like i said around here it gets no promotion, no radio play, no mention or anything... besides, around here to these jokers, Angelina and Adriana aren't even freestyle to them... they still live in the past when everyone was rockin white tapes and had the big radio by their side playin TKA, Stevie B, or Johnny O... you bring them a new act and they walk away... this is all because of the time when everyone started gettin record deals out of nowhere just to sing freestyle... it didnt matter if you had skills or not, producers just wanted to fill slots, kids wanted to be cool... the downfall of freestyle came when everyone and their mother had a deal in the freestyle world... i say just keep it underground and let it be... mainstream production will just repeat what happened in the past...

uh yes i have heard all of these artist..is this the future or current state of freestyle.??.because on the real none of them really impressed me..example.."do you miss me/" by jocelyn..a horrible song...one line repeated over and over..sounds like a broken record!! is this the evolution you speak of?? what i accept brother is alot of this new school stuff SUCKS!!and what I know,,is that it can be alot better..now care to enlighten me any further??its just my opinion..of course i could be wrong..however none of the artist you mentioned gets play in my car or my home entertainment system..so your point is???????🙄

well that must just be your opinion. if you were here in california during the release of Angelina and Jocelyn's songs, you would have been in the minority if you didn't like it.
you say "Do You Miss Me" is horrible?
tell that to the many radio stations that played this song IN ROTATION. stations from San Francisco to Sacramento to Stockon/Modesto, Fresno, Texas, Florida. yes radio stations are the most critical of freestyle and it is very hard to get any freestyle on radio. yet what freestyle was getting airplay in recent years? songs by Angelina, Jocelyn Enriquez, Adrianna. if radio, of all places play songs like this, it can't be crap.

We all have to look at the reality though...OF COURSE west coast freestyle is going to get alot of airplay on the west coast...and going to be liked by the majority of west coast freestylers. Isn't that the style the west coast is used to?? NO, this NOT some dumb west coast v.s. east coast commment. It's just a FRIENDLY point, nothing more, nothing less. Just a bit of reality I'm throwing out :O) Oh, a quick example to back myself up...same goes for Canadian freestyle...OF COURSE that style is loved by most of the freestyle fans up in Canada..same thing. :O)

Now back to kicking ass..LOL!!..Im just kidding..Im gettin off this topic cause Im just tired of some peeps negativity..🙁

Anthony..your lucky you explained to me...cause I almost had an heart attack to know..that you were there..and I didnt meet you..LOL!

Whoa baby..Just gave me CHILLLLZZZZ...LOL!!!

ya know..just thinking about it...Ive seen a pic of you..so therefor..I know what you look like!..Im such an assssss!!..🙁..LMFAO

well on the west coast both old school and new school freestyle gets played. it just seems that people here (and even places other than the west coast) have more open minds. but artists like Jocelyn Enriquez- i have heard in places other than the west coast, like Florida and Texas.
by the way i heard some Canadian freestyle in Sacramento. i remember their dance station played 2 freestyle songs by Elissa (i think that is Canadian freestyle). anyways i like Canadian freestyle too.

Ty Bless is so right "You just may never know what you can do until you do it". Steve B I see where your coming from and is the reason why some of us new artists Are doing our best to keep it going. Rhoq I see some of your views, but bro if this wasn't happening then I as a new artists will not be doing so many shows and getting call for them. Freestyle has to change and if we don't do something quick we might as well burried it or just keep it underground. Alot of you say the why say the "Death of Freestyle" and blame all those lazy, so call Producers (No Names will be said) and Artists for not doing what those Legends had built for us. We as Artists and Producers need to get our asses up work hard for what needs to be save. It's time to wake up and take charge of our music chill out with money making (Thinking that way anyways) and starts to make you music good and worth buying. There's alot of Talented Artists out there and alot of Talented Producers that can make a difference, but if we don't take our time in a studio to perfect what we own, then might as well forget it. In every show I've had in the past 8 years I get younger crowd involve asking me how I got it in and my reply is hard work and dedication. "Dedication" is the Key Factor of the whole thing.

To Me Freestyle should change is name, get away from the "Do you Rap"? everytime they say i'm a freestyle singer. Nobody knew that Hiphop will be so big as it is today, but they haven't change is rare to hear a HipHop artists thats unique alot samples like crazy from Many great HipHop artists from the Past, but they reevented to a today sound.

I was listening on Friday to La Mega 97.9fm at noon and out of no where I hear a girl call up the station saying "Can you please play some freestyle". Alex Sensation said "I Pleaze everybody" and he started with "Fantasy Girl" Johnny O, Louder Than Love TKA, No Reason To Cry Judy Torres, Body Rock K7, Crystal Water NV, and ended with Tonasia "Games Of Love". I mean he play it cause it was requested and I know if we can get material to Alex he will play in a mix atleast. Now there's a new station that plays everything I mean from hiphop, to Salsa, R&B, to Merengue, Latin Hiphop to Bachata, and Freestyle. I spoke to Hitech and see if he can try to see if he can get a spot in there hey you never know.

I have friends younger than me between 15-21 and they love freestyle I give them names and sites to go 3 are members from CF and others are menber every where else. Lets not give up and lets make a change to our eyes and stop walking blind and close minded. Give New Peeps a chance and also the Oldschoolers Responce and back up on their new material.

God Bless and I follow these rules
OH BTW (New Schoolers) You know who you are "STOP BEING BIG HEADED LIKE YOU EVENTED THIS MUSIC AND START TREATING FANS WITH RESPECT YOU AIN'T NOTHING WITH OUT THEM"
Sincerely
Alex of Latin Nation and the Nu Style records Staff

Like I said..it wont die knowing that the younger generation is also loving and helping out Freestyle...

Im will never die to me. i started listennin to when i was 17 because of my way older cousins and it grew on me. i was hooked on Dimi "only one" and i never knew that it was identified under the genre, freestyle. i had no clue wat freestyle was. i must have put 15 people on freestyle in my life so i would never ebven think of it as dying. as long as the poeple who truly love it, share it with other people it will stay the same or grow. Id rather listen to the classics then the new age shit they have these days where the words have no heart in them because the people are singing about hoes or oops they did it again(kinda old i knw but first thing in my head).

Just wanna say that the people on CF helped me understand that im not the only one thats head over heels over it because i have to drive and listen to some TKA, Stevie B, Dimi, & More, Latin radcals, Safire, etc....

- thank you
