You know what gets me- people always
complaining... NEVER taking action.

I dont want to hear any fkin misery.
If you cant enjoy freestyle music for what
it is - then don't.

If some of you want to be friggin pissed at me for
saying this - I dont really give a shit.

You want to go cry on the other sites about
JackG and how mean he is - I dont and never
did Give a Rats Ass.

Frankly, I am sick of all the whining.

Dayum right, Jack G!!!

I'm sorry, but i have to say something about this "Death of Freestyle" business. This is what i truly feel.
Yes, it is true that freestyle music is not mainstream pop anymore, BUT, there is still a scattered fan base out there for it. Last sunday night wasnt the greatest turnout for a freesyle mega concert either, but you just dont give up and say, oh, well, its the death of freestyle. lets just pack it up and go home cryin. what kinda bullcrap is that!!! Let's understand something, i havent seen many club owners that will do a freestyle event on a saturday night at a time of year when the city clubs are busier. Let's examine the 3 blis concerts. Me and a lot of others didnt have off Martin luther king or presidents day. And guess where half the world was last weekend, the NJ shore or the hamptons or anywhere but NYC. Two people i know that are die hard freestyle fans from this site were in vegas and the nj shore. You cant expect 1000 people on nights like this. There were still about 300 to 400 peeps in there sunday. That would be a decent crowd at any smaller club. The first 2 blis concerts had more people for sure.

Maybe what some clubs should do is mix the acts and not make it just a freestyle night. Maybe you can have cynthia or fascination and another artist from today's dance like amber, just to get another kind of dance music crowd in the club. To me amber's songs are good modern day dance tracks and they sound something like freestyle with the fast random drum beats and the sexy vocals!!!

You wanna know why alot of freestyle fans dont make it out to the clubs?? Think about the avg age of the classic freestyle fan. They are probably anywhere from 25-35, got small kids at home and too many other things to worry about. Who the hell has time to stay out to 4am anymore, BUT how do i know that they are out there?? Because every time i listen to ktu when they are playin freestyle i hear some guido from strong island or some guidette or boriqua from the bronx or nj sayin, "ohh judy, im just lovin this freestyle".

Listen, all i know is that if we give up, then freestyle will eventually fade out, but this site and its fans and the artists have made a difference these last couple of years in keeping freestyle on the map and exposing it to the younger generation of fans around
15-20 yrs old. I would have never known where half the freestyle events were goin on if it wasn't for this site.

Are you going to tell me that two years, over 200,000 posts!!! and a ton of great freestyle events are for nothing!!! I dont think so!!!
I agree with what people are saying about how freestyle may evolve into a new but somwehat similar sound, but the only people who will invent this sound are the freestyle artists and producers in the studio, and the only way they will keep recording is if we keep supporting them by buying the cd's. But buy it only if you believe in it and it moves you inside like all great freestyle songs do!! I bought the new TKA cd. I liked two of the songs on it and didn't really like the rest, but that doesn't mean im gonna abandon TKA as a fan. I respect their effort. If anyone expected them to match their "TKA's greatest hits" cd, then i got some swamp land to sell ya to build some houses on!!!! lol

If just one of our artists can get "the break" and get some exposure and maybe get a contract with a big label, then they can throw one or two freestyle tracks onto a mainstream record and see how the public reacts to it. But we'll never know unless we keep supporting them in the meantime.

I believe the only way we are gonna pack the clubs for freestyle is by getting the younger crowd in there and exposed to it. I think all freestyle events should be 18 to party. There are alot of younger kids that like it because it's still "cool" music when you put it up against today's dance. You know what i did with the flyers i had for club blis last sunday? I gave them to my younger brother and his friend to post up and throw around Baruch college where they go to school. I put some around s.i. mall. I dont know if it got any more people to go, but i did something!! Even if our efforts reach only one person, it will multiply by word of mouth.

I think that Jack G should make a ton a business cards and give them to the cf members to put out all over when they go out!!! The power of this website can multiply very fast if people know about it.

Now you may disagree with me, you may think im crazy, you may piss on this post, but if you wanna help keep it alive, you can do these few simple things to make a difference:

- support the artists (old and new school) by buying their cd's
- going to freestyle events when you can
- call the radio stations and request old and new school freestyle
- expose the younger generation to freestyle, tell your younger brothers and sisters and their friends.

I dont wanna hear any more of this givin up on freestyle garbage. If you got something to criticize, fine, but offer a suggestion also!!!

Freestyle music is not the only music that i like, but its the only music still to this day that makes me wanna just get up and dance my (_|_) off!!! The true freestyle fans feel it inside. To me, its the only music with passion!!!

If you are a true freestyle fan, just do your part to help keep it alive, thats all i can ask.

LMFAO Steve!! I just replied to your comments in the "Other" thread! :stoned

FREESTYLE FOR LIFE!!!!!!!!! :yeey

i definately agree with u steve b. they should combine freestyle artists with artsits out now when putting together these shows. that would be the smart way to expose both old and new music. unfortunately when radio stations like ktu put something big together like miracle on 34th street...they only get the bigger artists and never include the freestyle artists. they should really work on that. if it's good enough to play 2 hours worth every sunday night...and play on regular rotation..then why not have them perform.

thanx junito, glad to have some sensible people around here.
i think that was my longest post ever, lol
that may be a good thing to email ktu about, i think i'll do that right now,

Sounds like you are in denial my friend!

It's OK though, I once thought just like you and many others reading this. The truth will become clear to you one day!

I figured i'd get a post like yours rhoq, the "denial" post.

I didnt say this was gonna happen overnight. Its gonna take a long time, but nothing worthwhile in life is ever easy my friend.
I didnt expect the skies to open up and for it to start raining freestyle, glory alleluia!!! Your quote says it yourself, you live in a city where freestyle is a 4 letter word. MOVE!!!

Whether I live in Philly where Freestyle is rarely heard on the radio or in "Freestyle City U.S.A.", my views on the current state of our music will not change! Face the facts - Freestyle is in pitiful shape and it doesn't seem to be getting any better with time.

steve b!....i agree totally!!!!.....i think we need to hit these kids...im a toung one myself..and the prime of freestyle passed me by...but i love the music and all my friends have learned to like it to---simply cuz thas all i am about....i breathe and live freestyle----and i think the music is on its way to a big comebackk......but it wont help if the music's fans keep shooting it down....we need to spread the word!!!

definetly agree w/ you Steve B!!!!

I'm not over 21 (yet) and most of my friends are young ones too. hell even my 5 and 2 yr old kids love to dance to freestyle! We just have to keep spreading the word that it ain't over!!! and as long as there are ppl like us here in CF that are willing to stick w/ it till the end it ain't gonna go no where!

Oh, and Jack, I didn't see you there. Maybe next time. I really don't know faces from CF. I go with my friends and mind my own, not to be rude though. If anyone recognizes me, you're welcome to introduce yourself......even those who'd like to strangle me 😱 😛 LOL
