guys

here is what im getting At I'd accept all those points and Arguements.,,. that hip hop is now freestyle is then,.,., And i'd accept that have to Play whats Hot. But If thats So? Heres my problem,.,.,.

How Come Disco clubs can survive ""all nite"" on playing nothing but stuff from 75 to 82,.,. thats the reason why i cant accept,.,.the hip hop arguement no matter how ya feed it to me,..,., Cuase there are hundreds of clubs here in nyc are that will play Disco All Nite.

So that means? there fan base is strong enuff for that? So where's ours. We have enuff Fans for At least One freeking club.

2.) Solution why not like i said in miami. there whats called private clubs,.,. you pay 3000 dollars for hole year,.,. in our case we can pay 500 for 5 years. you get 4000 poeple llllolll,.,..,and thats your club ! D J payed ,.,.,.And Crowd or No crowd.,.,,.

It destroys the need To Cator to anything.

We could at least have one somewhere in nyc. closest i came to it was extremes in the bronx. In moshulo. i love freestyle so much. that i braved the south bronx to go for 2 years.,.,.,.OOOOOOOOOOOOnly cuase they played if i was lucky 5 freestyle songs in a row.

so anyway,..,,. we make a private club,..,..where people can come,.,.,. but its payed for ,.,.,.,. no matter what happens.,.,,.

etc,.,

thats my idea,.,.

also i think Hip hop is paper tiger,..,., and people don't like it that much.
Hey!

I just has to reply to your post somewhere cuz even though im way younger than all the peope that have had the privilege to grow up with the music when it was hot...i agree with you 100%. I'm 17 and I guess I'm supposed to like all that new hip hop crap that they play out there...but i dont!!..i hate it cuz its not fun..i guess...i cant even put an adjective there to describe what im trying to say but im sure you guys get what im saying . and i hate it even more cuz i cant share the same interests in music with my friends..hence...i dont go clubbing much (all ages that is..lol). But even if i could get into the "exclusive" clubs....i wouldnt go because i KNOW all they play is music i dont care to hear all night. Its ridiculous...I went to this place there on the 1st and not even half of the people were dancing....they were just drinking and smoking ...moving a lil bit in their seats ..eating...and staring at those dancing (as if THEY were the ones putting on a show).... I was sOoO bored.

I totally agree with your idea on the private club thing (why do ppl gotta be so negative?)...if only we could find supporters...hey i work! i think i can help! You up for it? lol.....Just the thought is awesome!!

lil_resees

pal you got no one to blame but us old guys,.., were the ones who allowed hip hop to break out of nyc..,.,. and we folded like a cheap camera in the early 90's when it was really picking up. in stead of fighting it.

had we stopped it. who knows what you be listening too today. you prob be listening to club? in your high school. but we didnt.

and it's our fault. club should of kept going through the nineties,.,.,

but,.,. we followed the media,.., the industry,..,., mainstream.

And mainstream music and media wanted hip hop to blow up no matter how ruanchy it was. and get strong no matter what.

And it did. and everybody abonded club in 89 90 91. hip hop just came on too strong. and by the time we knew what was going on.

It had all the in between people,.,., that go either way. all the """" I listen to anything freeeking people"""""

which is why where in the mess where in.

To my credit I never listend to anything !!! but freestyle and 80's rock period.

and never touched hot 97 since 89.

but it's all the ""I Listen To Anything Freeking people""".,.,.,.,.,..,.,.,.

that lets hip hop get so strong,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.

becuase they didnt want to make a decision ,.,.which is what political correctness is,.,..,,.which is being down the middle on everything,..,,.., and saying this sucks,.,.,.

and that also helped out rap big time,..,,.,

but either way in the 90's it just came on to fast to strong..,

but thats what this private club is all about. it's basically saying we weathered 89,..,through 2005,.,.with hip hop.

and our music is still here,.,.,. damaged,.,.,. more underground,..,,.but still around,.,.

so hip hop didnt get rid of the G. Q. 80's club sceene as much as it wanted too and tried too.

And it went on it's run. and we lost ground to it. but didnt looose out totally.

the worst is over,.,.,.

and now with 103.5 party 93.1 ,.,.where taking alot of ground back.

and thats what this club is about.

it's about saying that theres a lot of streets in the city,.,.,., and hip hop and rap dosnt represent,.,.,

every street,.,.

and it dont represent ours,.

and it's also about,.,.,.something which,.,.,.

i have always thought deep down,.,.,.

and that is we have enuff talent,,.,.,.in freestyle,.,.,.to carry a club,.,.,.,.,.,.

without the help of rap hip hop,.,..,.,,. techno,.,.,. or anything else,.,.

for 9 hours straight.

I know many people who have been wishing for something like this for a long time and would welcome a "Freestyle only, all night" night. I agree that I think it would work. Yes, all of us "Freestyle freaks" have grown up, are in our 30's, some married, have kids, etc, but we would go to these things if people catered to us. I think it might actually be a better experience then the bullsht you find in regular clubs where you have a bunch of 20-somethings doing the regular club bs, picking up, and fights breaking out. We would be there for the love of the music.

Thats very True, Any freestyle head Would attend such a event and it would probably be a full house. My point is its important that all ages attend if this event's primarry cause is to "Save Freestyle" or "Bring Freestyle back" if the event is just to give a great night to freestylers then I guess it dont matter who attends.

We have thrown Simular Partys and focused mainly on exposing freestyle to a new generation to keep the torch burning. Although its always been a all ages event, The main goal for us at least was always to get new people out to buy freestyle and get involved in freestyle.

this music has been sterio typed as old people music, by a large majority of todays youth. A generation GAP has been created by retail mainly carrying old school freestyle and radio strictly playing the same freestyle for 20 years.

I would call it a sucsess if younger crowds came out to this event and saw freestyle in a new set of eyes. If younger people knew about freestyle and liked it, record sales would increse and maybee radio would give it more play. lets bridge the Gap people. Dont contribute to the freestyle stand still. Its time to blossom and grow, but how can we do that if no ones planting new seeds?

galv great to see you again.

I think you got a great idea galv. get the kids involved cause after all theres only so long we can keep this up. but i think thats long term. i tell you why we got gotta get like i said a strong core. thats only gonna be in 30's somethings anyway.

Then give these people

you know heres what i want. A place which is a complete complete i mean complete break from hip hop,.,. rap.,,. even it's style,.,. even its existance,.,. even anything,,.

it's gotta to break away from rap completely,.,.

next,.,. second thing i want.,,.

is that.,.,and this is the ambititous part,.,., it be freestyle all nite,..,,. 9 hours,.,.,.

which i think we can carry a floor for 9 hours,..,,. with no help from any rap hip hop techno.,,.., or any retarted urban crap,.,. ya here,.,. on z 100,.,. etc,.

third most important,.,.,.

we give,.,. freestyle artists,.,. a place to play,,.

so those are three things looking at. Then get kids in if it were good. see

this is really getting ahead of ourselves,..,

but i think that if she these kids,.,.,.whats really cool,.,.,. theyd probobally,.,..,,.., wanna get into club?

And now this is really getting ahead of myself,.,. but what the heak now that were down the road.,,.

i think were at the perfect time

hip hop

gave us it's best shot for 15 years. and it didnt knock club off the map. so they gave us are best shot and that was it. next george w bush is president,. so anything thats associated with slime,..,

is gonna have a tuff time next 4 years,.,., ,.

third,.,. 103.5 and 93.1 ,.,., has managed to hold ground,.,.. and hasnt got knocked off the air,.,.

now the kids,.everybody makes alot about the kids.,,.,.and how afraid of them,.,.they are cuase hip hop has em in they're back pocket.,.,

well that was true,.,.,. and prob still would be.,..,except for

well it my guess??? that these kids have sceen alot in the last 5 years 9 11 the floods,.,. 2 wars.,,..

It's my guess,.,.theyre having second thoughts,..,,.and they are tired of violence,.,.,.

theyd,.,.,.never admit it,.,.,.that if given something new to try,.thats street like.,.,but non violent,.,..,,.,.

they might go for it,.,.

Now maybe?

it's time for freestyle,..,.,to take some ground,.,

I have a theory I spoke about this a while back but I think it is a good point. I dont think a lot of clubs play Freestyle since it does not have that "MAJOR LABEL" stamp on it and to top things off you have so many Pop artists and R&B artists doing songs so similiar or plainly freestyle that us Lesser Known acts have a hard time competing. I fortunately go to clubs that still will play freestyle ocassionally through the night, granted it is usually the classics, Johhny O, Noel, Stevie B etc. But they do every once in a while play some songs that are "FREESTYLE" even if the people dont consider it that. Like the song "Never" by Roc Project I think that song is so "Freestyle"
I know everyone feels that freestyle does not get enough support and that is true but I think it has support because so many pop artists do songs that are freestyle so at least the sound survives and that gives us all a chance because as long as the sound survives it will never die out.
I think it is frustrating that these acts get air play because of who they are and freestyle artiststs like myself have to struggle to get on college and underground stations just to stay around or we have to keep our name going just from mixtapes or compilations that we probably will never see a penny from.

I know it seems that I am straying from the subject but I feel it is all relevant to another. The clubs are not going to play music from acts that they feel the public would not pay money to see live or buy their albums. So until we are taken serious by Record labels, promoters, and radio stations the amount of freestyle we hear in most clubs will always be very little.

Your not straying from the subject and that may be one of the reasons that clubs dont play freestyle. But the Number 1 Primarry reason , and I mean Big Kuhonna reason is this: You Guys Ready? The reason Clubs dont play freestyle is because the shit sounds old as fuk and is compleatly out dated. It just seems out of place playing it when you got a majority of people from the ages of 18-27 wanting to get they freak on. think about it. Listen closely to classic Freestyle and tell me that shit dont sound dated.

if they had NEW FREESTYLE, with NEW SOUNDS, I guarentee they would spin it!!! The same thing happened when freestyle fizzed out in the early 90's but Angelina and Jocelyn came to the rescue with a NEW SOUND and let me tell you there was not a club on the planet that WAS NOT SPINNING that Shit. Shortly after or around the same time, JOSETTE, THE S-FACTOR and others came along and got the clubs back on the freestyle tip including regular radio rotation.

Now What? now That sceane is dead and the world awaits the next freestyle wave to hit . If we can make some freestyle that make your booty go bounce, CLUBS WILL WELCOME IT WITH OPEN ARMS!! Clubs arnt hating on freestyle or discriminating on us....They are waiting for us to deliver some NEW POTENT ASS SHIT.

Alot of newer Freestyle releases still have a dated sound to it and thats why the shit gets no play...Real Talk. You cant expect a 2005 release that sounds like a 1985 release to go far.

Have yall heard the latest in Trance? Have yall heard the latest in Break Beats? Thats what we are up against!! we need to get down like that if we expect any thing to happen in freestyle world.

Like stated above I too am fortunate enough to know a few clubs that still mix in classic freestyle with todays hottest music. but thats only because the city of San Jose (like NY) has strong freestyle roots, other citys in america with no freestyle history are in a different situation.

The Truth Hurts but its the Truth that shall heal us~~

hey dj

sorry didnt get back to you right away. friday prob not the best for me cuase still between stuff. have to work. but were definately meeting before end of this month. plus this chick is pain in the ass,.,. if i went out with hanging out,.,.on friday shed. flip and say why you not with me all that crap,.,.

you know new relationship shit,..,.,

so between new job,.. new chick,.,.kind of dancing with one foot,.,.,.

so lets see next week,..,,. prob be able to hook up.

ray

galv dj pain and lamond.

thats the kind of talk,.,.which is why were in this mess to begin with. we are not going to cator to anyone period No more! no more hip hop no more R n B no more rap,.,. no more,.,.,oh lets do this lets do that,.,., new freestyle yeah,.,. new ,,.transe,.., ok,.,.

but thats where it ends,.,. our days of catoring are over. I rather have 50 dancing that like freestyle,.,.

than 200 that are there to listen to other crap,.,.if you wanna listen to other stuff,.,.

go.

but our private club,..,would have membership dues,.,. so it would absolutely prevent,.,. trends,..,

I agree galv,.,.they same crap.,,,. that gets me going prob dont get you going,.,.,.cuase im 34 yr 27,.,., so your gonna be loyal to what happ between 90 and 94,.,.

me its gonna be 83 to 89,.,., fine.,,..,

we can have anything so long as its club,.,.,.transe new freestyle,.,., 3 am to 5 am,.,.,.but it has to center around 80's freestyle,..,.then go into new freestyle,.,. in fact i dont even wanna do this unless it has new freestyle,.,. after 80's freestyle.,.,., llloll,..

But the idea,..,is it will never have to bend to or cator to hip hop ever again,.,.,9 hours of freestyle,.,.,.club transe,.,., west coast,.., freestyle,..,

But we gotta get away from that cator philsophy,.,., we dont cator anymore.

were gonna give a place for us to hear our music,.,.,place for artists,.,.to play,.,

and give freestyle people a base of operations.

self sufficient,.,. no threat of trend,..,., and we run it,.,.., like i said

we need a base,.,.,.,., where artists can play,..,,.

a place,.,.where trends dont matter whats hot dont matter,.,.,.,. nothing matters except freestyle,.,.,.

then we can,.., get new stuff going.

Galv, you are right about the music sounding dated but even acts who use fresh sounds still have that hurdle to get over. I mean I think most of the material from our upcoming album has a fresh spin on the genre, but we have to keep it freestyle at the core because of the art form and the purists. Rbonuc I agree with you also that we have to not let that mentality hold us back from doing something positive. I think you are onto something with this club. We are willing to support it in anyway.

Alright Ray.... wifey got that lock and key... lol it's all good papa, well let me know a good day for you........ A Yo hector (pain's paradise) that cut on your web page is hot...im feeling it..... Got my wifey trying to record it .....

Dade county is full of freestyle heads... but not so much my age. I've seen a couple of ppl (from ages 18-22) in clubs and concerts.

Gal, great advice...
Hey diamond girl...i feel what ur saying about the younger ppl in mia...i live here and it sucks cuz none of my friends like freestyle (probably one or two songs but not complete fans).

Well just wanted to let you know that if you get some info about how to help..let me know too please...u got a strong supporter here from the younger crowd.

Oh yea and if anyone is interested, there is a lot that is going to be going on this year regarding freestyle... especially down here so if you want, check out freestylemusic.com. Destune records is trying to launch some new artists and mainly stir up a new freestyle scene and they need your support. So for those interested i think u'd like to check out the site and contact jonpito.

Plain ans simple today's clubs suck...
most of them play out that rap and hip hop till it sounds like crap..
some clubs are run buy people who just want to make a profit by getting everyone drunk and not give a shit about what music is played.. some don't even have a decent DJ..
