First and foremost, I must thank the true Godfather of FREESTYLE, SAL ABBATIELLO for helping me out with the VIP, along with the groups manager, LEROY.
Well, Jack, diane and myself arrived at the facility around 9. I showed Jack the place. He wasnt into the atmosphere (neither was I......it was filled with NERDS!)
so, to kill some time, Jack bought Diane and I some food (THANKS AGAIN, JACK!)
The food was very good. After we were done, we went into the club (whihc was secluded from the rest of JILLIANS crowd. We were in the club and they actually played some really good music (mostly dance from 1995 and up.....with all types of music, including INDIA.) there was also an 80 year old man on the dance floor getting his groove on with somone that could have been his grand daughter!!!
Around 11:30, 2 unknown singers got on stage, singing "A DEEPER LOVE". Well, that almost answered the question as to "which C&C will be performing". I totally forgot about the "greatest hits" era for C&C. The lead singer did not look familiar to me. They performed the song and then they broke into "HERE WE GO" with FREEDOM WILLIAMS taking the stage, which got the club's already filled crowd all excited. Freedom came out with his signature cigar. A girl in the audience was begging for it so he gave it to her. He then said "you can keep it.....i dont know what you got!"
Freedom introduced his female lead as his girlfriend. She had quite an amazing voice, I might add.
They broke into a couple of more songs which were unfamilar to me (no...he didnt perform "GET DUMB").
FREEDOM chatted with the crowd and let out the brooklyn side of him, which kind of surprised some of the elder long island crowds. He then broke into another unfamiar song then he followed it up with a remix of "things that make you go hmmmm..."
He chatted with the crowd again then he got the crowd going with "GONNA MAKE YOU SWEAT" which drove the crowd wild.
Then, unknownst to me, FREEDOM broke into the BORIQUA ANTHEM! Everybody was requesting him to perform it so he said "what the hell........boriqua's in the house". He bought my wife, Diane on stage to dance in the background (thanks, FREEDOM!) Although it wasnt his signatur song, he just walked around the stage and blurted out chants and yells as the original vocals covered the club. rightfully so, it wasnt his song! I actually thought Joey Kidd was going to walk out on stage!
wish you came, Joey!!!!! they would have loved to have you onstage!
more C&C MUSIC FACTORY dates coming soon.
If you havent been to Jillians yet....go!!! they have them all across the country. Its unlike any other place youve seen before!!!!!
