My little Maltese named Muffin who is going to be 3 in a few weeks has to have knee surgery on Tuesday. She jumped off the couch yesterday and started to limp. Took her to the vet today and he said she has torn ligaments by her knee. If it isnt fixed now, it will get worse in time. I just hope she is ok with this surgery..I hate the fact that she has to be put out. Do any of you have dogs that went through something similar?
Im really worried about her..she's my little baby!

My dog had to have that done too...of course he's a monster though! 101 lbs to be exact 😀

Things turned out okay for him. I'm sure things will go well for Muffin too! 😉

It's true dog is man's best friend. I would get a second opinion since vet's can convince you easily being that your dog (at least those I have seen) cannot talk. My old buddy Butch (malamute/shepherd mix) had a tumor in his intestine which we paid 2000 to remove since he could not relieve himself. He was shaved and had to wear one of those funny cones around his head to prevent him from biting at the operated area on his rear end. We bought him three more years of life and in the end he died before my very own eyes of heart failure at 10 years of age. Your dog will be okay.

I hope your dog is well my dog had a slipped disc one morning got up and he couldnt walk I rushed him 2 vet then they gave him some medice 2 relax him i had 2 bring him to a specialist from there Iwas very sad but they had 2 do surgery where they removed a sist under his spinal cord after bringing him home I had to take care of him which he couldnt have any activity 4 like 2 months walk him on a sling and do therapy exercises on his legs every morning at night he had 2 be in a cage no climbing stairs and every morning hed be screaming 2 get out of cage it was tough but i cared 4 my dog bc I love him so much hes part of the family then after like 3-4 weeks I brought him back 4 check up and little by little he got strength back in legs and was walking vet was happy that it was sucessful and he was fine it was very costly I took outb the carecredit 4 pets and still paying it it was like 3000 dollars or a little more thats my story.

then last night my other dog around 430 am started screaming never heard her scream like that she was in pain shes the sister of my male dog so i gave her medicine the vet gave me a month ago for discomfort because she hurt her back so i had 2 wait to 8am broght her there she was alittle bit better cause gave her medicine the vet checked her out and said she mite of sprained her lower back so i pray shell be fine she seem a little bit better now but still worried cause of my other dogs past medical history he annemic 2 so i finaaly took out pet insurance which i pay about 50.00 a month 4 both dogs its okay but they will not cover any past problems what u do is bring the claim form 2 vet they fill it out then u summit it to claims dept and theyll reimburse u accordingly to which plan u have but not full amount and sometimes theyll want 2 see more records and so on so today cost me 65.00 with visit and medicine so i have 2 walk her on leash in back restrict activity and just keep an eye out on her so she dont relapse plus her anal glands were filled they had 2 clean them and heer ears as well shes an allergy dog 2 begin with .

Thanks you guys..you all just managed to make me feel better. But for those of you who lost your pets, Im really sorry...they really do become your best friends! I have to post a picture of Muffin...she is so adorable!

I feel u girl, my dog kiki got hit by a car almost two years ago and I thought was going to die, she broke her hip and needed surgery, I cried when the vet told me that she needed surgery and they could not pop her socket back in. I was like no way my, dog kept crying from the pain. She is my heart.

It's amazing how special our dogs are and how attached we become to them and vice versa. Let's just say that Muffin rules in my house lol Anyway, my mother is taking her to a different vet tomorow for a second opinion...Im hoping he gives some better news.

See if your vet does accupuncture.. I have two dogs one a Bichon Frise and a mini Schnauzer. The Bichon had the same as yours from jumping off the sofa but instead of surgery the doctor suggested accupuncture. then if that didnt work consider the surgery. Well I still havent had accupuncture but my dog did and at 25 dollars a session for twice a week for 4 weeks was better than a few grand and shes running around fine now 😉

My dog didnt have the surgery today...we took her for a second opinion to a different vet..he agreed that she needs the surgery but she will have it done by a vet who specializes in that type of surgery. She might have it done in 2 weeks.
