How come MTV or MTV-2 do not broadcast more Freestyle and Dance Videos???? Dance music is still being played (and I’m all the way down in :sunshine Puerto Rico!!) and it’s in a lot of demand. Take a look at the commercial for Fired Up I haven’t seen any of the videos being broadcasted on MTV or VH1. This is the reason some music genres are suffering, including Freestyle.

Your opinions pleeeeaaasseee!!!!!!!

I remember when the RuPaul show was on VH1...they always used to show a half hour of dance music videos right after. But once RuPaul went off, they stopped showing the videos. Regardless, MTV and VH1 both hardly show any videos at all...and that's sad.

Well Quailty helps if your gonna use a handy cam and put out a music video it aint gonna get played. Kylie can never spell her last name videos have played as well as some others cause they are well produced. Which means money was spent. Which means investments by their label. which means hiring good directors and everything that comes with that sound lighting crew costumes sets storyboard etc. some up and comers can get away with low bduget because they can say that was the look you were going for and then its OK cause its artisical LOL but again if your gonna make a music video and want prime time get ready to play with the big boys and challenge thier money. If any one is interested If you show up and put up an ad at the New school or NYU you can probably get a film major wanting to jump at the chance to work a video project just for thier grade and portfolio thats actuall the route I will take once Im ready

Still that’s how MTV got started with very low budget videos being broadcasted. Have they forgotten their background?? At least they could just do an hour of these videos and it doesn’t have to be prime time??? HELLO:confused

VIACOM, which is the parent company for MTV and VH1, is a true example of a monopoly.

Besides BET, what else is there for videos? None.

We need an alternative.

they should bring back 2nd generation they used to play all the freestyle and dance videos back in the day

It really does s*ck how these channels aren't playing any freestyle... or any music videos for that matter. It's horrible.

the real scope behind videos

Class is now in session................

Major labels use videos in conjunction with radio campaigns to promote a new song. But mainly to expand the possible market of potential buyers. Radio is still a major labels weapon of choice. If a song is doing well on radio and has sold over 100,000 units, a major usually allocates a budget for a video. Since videos can cost on average over $150,000 to produce, they don't spend money on a song that "MIGHT" be a hit.

Now if you apply these rules to Freestyle Music you come to the real reason why you don't see Freestyle Videos on MTV.

1. There are no Majors signing Freestyle Dance Artist which means.....

2. There are no radio promotion campaigns for Freestyle which means.....

3. There are no Freestyle Songs selling 100,000 units in retail which means.....

4. There is no reason to waste $150,000 to produce a video to expand a market that doesn't exist which is why.....

You won't see any Freestyle Videos on MTV.

Look to the past and you shall find proof......

Corina....Temptations......over 500,000 units......video
TKA.......Louder than Love.....over 100,000 units.....video
K7.........Come baby come......over 300,000 units......video
Jocelyn Enriquez.....Little bit of exctasy......over 100,000 units.....video

Class dismissed.......................

I was searching EBAY and I found a 12 volume dvd set called "we are the 80's" and it contained over 300 videos and NOT ONE VIDEO was from a freestyle artists. no EXPOSE, no LISA LISA, no NOTHING!!!!!!

How can you have an 80s dvd video set with no freestyle?!!?!?!?!!?!

It's not if they forgot about us. It's all about the money they generate.

Hip Hop is definitely a marketable genre. Freestyle isnt. Majority rule = Money

We support freestyle out of love. Nothing else. And soon, if we get more people to dig this music like us.....someone big will take notice of us.

Its Because Hip Hop Done Took Over The World, And They Only Play What High School Kids Want To Hear.bUT One Time On Vh1 Classics I Saw Let The Music Play, And On Vh1's I Love The 80's, Hal sPARKS Gave A Shot Out To Freestyle When They Did 1987 Lisa Lisa. If You Wach This Show Keep In Mind This Was On I Love The 80,s Season 1 , Not I Love The 80,s Strikes Back. How Ever , Freestyle Is Coming Back And Can Make Mtv If We Promote The Hell Out Of New School, So Keep Bumpin It And !@#$% Mtv!!!
