South Philly - where freestyle USED to rule ...
For those of you who listen to ENERGY 92 in Chicago -- they are SLOWLY adding some more classic freestyle/dance cuts -- still not enough NEW stuff, but hey, some is better than none!

It seems that since Jeff Mason has taken over the morning show, there's more on in the morning, and even throughout the day.

For you PHILLY peeps who remember him, he used to do various on-air shifts at Q102 in Philly back around 1996-97 ...

Some of the songs I've heard RECENTLY on Energy:

"Dreamin' Of Love" - Stevie B
"What's On Your Mind" - Information Society
"Catch Me I'm Falling" - Pretty Poison
"Endless Night" - Cynthia
"I'll Be Loving You" - Collage
"Take Me In Your Arms" - Lil Suzy

and a few others I can't remember right now.

Check out the website at www.energy9275.com

Well that's a good thing, because from when I listened to them in the past they sounded horrible. Too monotonos (spelling?). They really need some freestyle bad and would be foolish not to add any. Freestyle was big in Chicago and they were treating it as if it never existed. Glad to hear they are doing this. Hopefully they will add some new freestyle too, and not some crappy house versions.

THANKS FOR LETTING US KNOW, I'M ABOUT TO CHECK IT OUT. DO YOU KNOW IF THEY DO LUNCH MIXES? I'M ALMOST SURE THAT SOMEONE HAS MENTIONED IT BEFORE, BUT I WANT TO MAKE SURE B/C I LISTEN IN TO THE NET WHEN I'M AT WORK.

Hey I was ironing my clothes getting ready for work when Together Forever was playing. I was shocked a couple weeks ago when they played Seduction!! I haven't heard their stuff on the radio in YEARS. I hear Shark play most of the FS that is heard on ENERGY. They all sneak it in. Last night just before Luis 2Live Lopez finished his shift he played Debbie Deb. I called him and said Ewwwwwwww Debbie Deb!!! He said YEAH it's a classic! LOL

As far as I know, there is no LUNCH mix ... they do have a show called the 'Lunchtime Energy Bar' -- but it's NOT mixed ... however, they play a snippet of an OLD dance song and have you identify it.

If you haven't checked it out, tune in to the morning show ! Great music and decent entertainment.

I heard "Together Forever" yesterday too and Corina's "Temptation" on the morning show -- they even went on to talk about her.

I also heard an old 80's song from TYLER COLLINS .. damn, anyone remember her ?? 'Girls Night Out' -- for some reason I remember hearin that a lot back in like 1989 ....

The station has great presentation and the music selection is great ! Aside from the current dance/house and the occasional classic freestyle cut, they play a nice amount of Eurodance, early 90's dance/club and some really cool OLD 80's dance/club/new wave songs ...

They do play a good amount of songs that you haven't heard in a LONG time -- and NO one else plays them !

I noticed too that Energy has been playing alot more freestyle, slowly but shurely. THere is one singer you forgot Dez, is ROCKELL! IT is mostly her new stuff, plus that remake of hers with another male singer which I forgot. I can't believe the station is syndicated over by you! B96 still plays freestyle mixes on the week end and during the week. They are very limited, but still improving. B96 has a dog out show, and I dogged out the program director and such. It had a good impact. I still talk to Tim "Spinnin" Schommer every week. I have emailed Freddy Lopez? but he never responded back. Maybe I can grow some tits and I would get a response! ha ha ha

GREG !!! Great to see you posting on here ...

I didn't mention Rockell because I'm SICK of hearing her song on there -- and her other ones. She was really the only 'psuedo-freestyle' artist they were playin for a while -- but, everyone plays her stuff, so I didn't mention her.

Come on Greg -- the station's not SYNDICATED ! ANYONE can listen to it, ON-LINE -- all you have to do is load the software from SURFERNETWORK.COM -- Also, Energy's website has 'listen live' links on it too !!

I'm just happy that I CAN listen to em !

Take care ...

Dez,

Glad to see you here too. I think I joined a couple of months after you did. I dont get a chance to post though. Anyways, I was driving in the car today going to work and they played, "Diamond Girl" by Nice and Wild...it is old school, but maybe we can open the door a little bit more with this!

This morning on the morning show, Jeff played 'Change On Me' by Cynthia ... and Stevie B's 'I Wanna Be The One' ... and during the 'Lunch Time Energy Bar' noon show, the 'mystery cut' was none other than TKA's 'Scars of Love' !!!

I couldn't call in to win, because I won the last one when they played 'Lookout Weekend' by Debbie Deb last week ! LOL!

It was SO nice to hear classic TKA ... ON THE RADIO !!! They are DEFINITELY adding more and more classic freestyle to the station !

This is good to hear, maybe they are slowly trying to fade freestlye in there playlist. I just cant stand that techno repeated beat music they play all the time!

THE OTHER DAY I WAS LISTENING ONLINE IN THE AFTERNOON FROM WORK & I HEARD MORE FS THAN I THOUGHT I WOULD HEAR. IT WAS GREAT. OBVIOUSLY, THE STATION IS DOWN TO HEAR FS, SO WHY NOT TRY TO PUSH SOME NEW SCHOOL. CHI-TOWN REPRESENT.

And that is why I am moving back to Chicago People. Tell them Luis "2 Live"!!! lol

YOu are right Dez, I am getting sick of Rockell. Why can't they play the freestyle song that Carlos Berrios produced for her...I think it's called, "Waiting" ??? They are adding more freestyle and they are actually listening to their audience. They needed to becasue they only had what, 10 songs in their rotation in the day? ha ha ha

I talked to someone from Energy 92.7/5 and they told me that they will not be playing any new freestyle. Just Euro/Disco House/Trance :-(

Do you know why they are not going to play any new freestyle? So they would rather stick to their 10 song rotation then.
