I'm feeling Missy's new track with Ciara eeerrrrr Mrs Lil Bow Wow.LOL. Great track, do you think with the touch of the Planet Rock, it could pass for a freestyle record? :dj

No freestyle vocals or arraingments....not freestyle.

Its an electro record...

The beat has a freestyle feel to it..actually a lot of Missy's newer stuff and Ciara's material have the freestyle/planet rock feel to it

Its called electro.Just cause a song has a planet rock beat it does not make it freestyle.90 % of the freestyle music made in Canada is planet rock based so I see why Canadians aren't able to tell the difference. Here in the US where the music originated ,the original producers didn't rely on just one electro beat.It wasn't till the 90's with labels like High Power and Metropolitan who overkilled on that planet rock formula and water down the music.

Can this song be considered freestyle, can that song be considered freestyle

NOOOOO!!!!!

Stop comparing these mainstream songs to freestyle..just cause it has a lil beat to it does not make it freestyle...time and time again i see on these posts and it just annoys me..i love freestyle...but freestyle is freestyle...

are they playing a planet rock mix down there.. all we hear up here is the original version with that electro beat from cybotron - clear. no planet rock sound

nevertheless i LOVE that song

Even thou it's not considered a FREESTYLE song/music...It is still dope. I was actually surprised that Missy even made a song like this.. My mouth dropped when I saw it on the B.E.T awards. :dj

nope.
but its a good song.
the only thing that pisses me off is that ppl dont know where the beat came from.. cybotron-clear.

I'm not surprised that Missy made a song with that electro feel.Remember her other song "work it".It has an electro sound to it and parts of the song had the same sample as TKA'S "Maria".That's in the intro and the outro.

My boyfriend thought that she took the beat from Cynthia's "If I Had The Chance"

In many places around the word, particularly outside of the US; breaks, breakbeat, electro and planet rock, in additional to the traditional american old school latin hearthrob are an integral part of the new evolved freestyle genre. Having an established branded remixer like Johnny Budz successfully bring this sound to major labels and radio audiences worldwide keeps maximizing the exposure of freestyle globally, outside of the US or inside for that matter. Regardless of what people's interpretation is, Enjoythe record and keep playing it! Mad props to Budz for a stunning string of global cuts with Ciara, Missy Elliott and Darren Hayes amongst many.

Ok I normally don't respond to these threads, but today I just couldn't resist. First just cause a song has a Familiar sound does not make it Freestyle! Second just cause Johnny Budz made a remix of this song and at one time he was associated with freestyle does not mean he's attempting to push the freestyle movement to a global level.. he is just doing what any good dj/remixer would do; and that is make a track with a solid memorable beat so he can get paid nothing more.. The song should be enjoyed for what it is and not what some wish or hope it could be.

I completely agree. But we are in a global commuity and freestyle has a diferent meaning outside of the USA. Limiting it to the old school latin hearthrob formula like they do in the USA is not keeping with todays trends that include breeaks, breakbeat, eltectro and planet rock as an integral part of the sound. Johnny Budz is one of many around the world who are contributing to the evolution and interpretation of the sound, with major label and club exposure, well beyond the USA borders.

I think its a great hip hop song to jam in a club and get the heads rolling lol I dont see the song resembling freestyle sowwie...because if Lil Suzy's walls of love is considered freestyle (that shit sounds like dance/trance) then you might as well consider Milli Vinilli's Girl you know its true to be freestyle also!

:lol

The song isn't freestyle...but it def has some elements and sounds similiar to freestyle.........

Has anybody heard "What's Up", from Xscape? It has the same planet rock beat, but in my opinion, the vocals give it more of a freestyle sound.
