I was going through my Freestyle collection a little while ago, and decided to play this album, and you don't hear much about it now. It's rarely mentioned as a collectors item.
Personally, I feel this album was essential to the Freestyle industry as a whole, and it should've sparked a buzz or something. Maybe even a tour. Every artist on this album is a key figure within this industry.
It so happens, that now I kinda look at it as a departure of Freestyle's most notorius pioneers.
Judy Torres: "Holdin' On"- The only single that was possibly played out of all 10 tracks. However, it isn't the best, but it's good.
Laura Enea, Nice & Wild, Brend K Starr, Yvonne, G.T., Diamond Eyes, Nocera, Coro, and C-Bank should've recieved the same recognition as lets say, Judy Torres.
In fact, it's accurate to say that "Come Back To Me", performed by Brenda K Starr (written by Brenda Kaplan herself, and E. Pacheco) is her last Freestyle track ever. And that shit is smokin'. It's actually one of my favorites on the
album.
I think the album is a milestone in the history of Freestyle. If you don't have it, get it.
I'd like to know what a few of these artist's are up to now.
