Metropolitan's Ladies of Freestyle Volume 1:

I got this CD in the mail a few days ago, courtesy of Latif Mercado. At first, I didn't know what to expect, given the fact that I had never heard of the dj who did this megamix (DJ Mista Bizy). Upon listening to it the first time, I wasn't impressed very much, but later after I listened to it a few more times, I realized that this mix actually grew on me. The selection is quite good, since it includes songs that are not that popular and are not usually found on other compilations. Perhaps the only song included in this megamix that is found in many Freestyle compilations is Lil' Suzy's "Promise Me". The Cd starts off with a 3 and a half minute intro/medley containing parts of various of the songs that are included on the mix, which gives the listener a good idea of what is to come... One thing that i like about this mix Cd is that it actually contains 2 verses and 3 choruses of every song (as opposed to some mixes who only include 30 seconds of each song), so it's kinda like the whole song is there, except that instead of ending, it mixes into the next song...I also like the fact it includes a blend of Classics and Newschool jams...Some of the classics that are included in this CD are "You were the one" by Deniz, "After the Lovin'" by Laissez-Faire, "Forever" by Nicole Daniels, the previously mentioned "Promise Me" by Lil' Suzy and "Special Love" by April, which is extremely rare in Freestyle compilations...Some newschool tracks on the CD include "Can't You See It" by Chrissy I-eece, "Don't Turn Your Back On Me" by Amy Tori, "Now and Forever" by Marybell Love, "Take the Time" by Lia Marquis, and the progressive jam "You Don't Have to Worry" by Rhythmcentric, so there should be something for everyone in this CD. One more thing to point out is that the songs are mixed at a speed slightly higher than your typical Freestyle song...somewhere at around 134 BPM, so on some of the songs, the vocals appear slightly higher pitched than what they would normally sound...Some of you oldchool fans might not like that, but it may be more accepted by today's crowd who seem to like the faster BPM's... I must admit, that this CD is not one that I would probably buy, because of the fact that I already own most of the songs on it (on other compilations) However, i would recommend it to those who are just starting their Freestyle collections, or to those who are trying to get into Freestyle music.

The track listing is as follows:

1) Manuella - "Don't Try To Come Back To Me
2) Deniz - "You Were The One"
3) Laissez-Faire - "After the Lovin'"
4) Chrissy I-eece - "Can't You See It"
5) Nicole Daniels - "Forever"
6) Amy Tori - "Don't Turn Your Back On Me"
7) Denine - "Tearshed '93"
8) Marybell Love - "Now and Forever"
9) Lia Marquis - "Take the Time"
10) Lil' Suzy - "Promise Me"
11) Rhythmcentric - "You Don't Have To Worry"
12) Tina Elise - "Love Will Keep Us Together"
13) April - "Special Love"

Thanks a lot for the honest opinions. I am so glad Mandy that you found songs on the comp that you never heard before, and liked. I am trying to introduce people to a lot of really nice tracks that have been put out on Metro yet didn't really make any noise in certain markets. The songs you mentioned that you never heard were huge in, CA, TX, IL, FL, NM and Canada. As far as Men Of Freestyle, yes I am current working on Metro's Fellaz Of Freestyle Vol. 1,2 and 3. so stay tuned. and in the meantime, enjoy the Ladies. Thanks again. Latif
ps: Tell Mom I said hi!

I got this CD yesterday from Jack at the CI beach party for Johnny O.

All I can say is...

OH MY GOD!!!!

This CD is everything that a freestyle cd should be. The tracks are hot, the mixing is hot. Its the kind of CD that just makes you happy, no matter how bad of a mood you are in.

Thank you Latif for providing Jack with the CDs for the giveaways & thank god for giving me the luck to get this one!

Volume 1 is HOT!!

😀 Hi everyone! I had the chance to listen to Volume 1 more than once. Some of the songs I recognized and some I heard for the first time. DJ Mista Bizy did a great job of mixing Volume 1.

I recognized the song "Don't Try To Come Back To Me" by Manuella, I love that song! Oh, the Megamix at the start of the cd was awesome, good job (its not listed on the comp) DJ Mista Bizy! I also recognized "You Were The One" by Deniz and thats one of my faves on the comp. "After The Lovin" by "Laissez Faire was nice, my fave by them is "In Paradise". I was hearing"Can't You See It" by Chrissy I-Eece for the first time, nice voice, good lyrics, I wish it would be a longer song, maybe theres another version somewhere. I was really feeling "Forever" by Nicole Daniels, first time hearing that one too, strong vocals, I like the echo effect to some of the words that the DJ put in."Don't Turn Your Back On Me" by Amy Tori was a nice song, I liked the end of the song the best, first time hearing that one. "Tearshed "93 by Denine, what can I say, I love her songs. This was my first time hearing it, it's a nice song, good lyrics, I have so many songs of hers that I like especially with Collage. I put this one in the middle of my faves by her. Never heard "Now & Forever" by Marybelle Love before, she has a sweet voice, strong vocals. I recognized "Take The Time" by Lia Marquis, that was another one of my fave songs on the comp. I like the echo effect the DJ mixed in with her vocals, and the talking mixed in with the singing. "Promise Me" by Lil Suzy was my top fave on the comp. I love the bassy version Latif put on! I love Lil Suzy songs, all of them lol! I recognized "You Don't Have To Worry" by Rythmcentric, thats a hot song and a must have in any new school collection. The last 2 songs were "Love Will Keep Us Together" by Tina Elise, I'm still getting used to that one, its nice. I can't believe that I don't have any April songs on any of my comps. So I was hearing "Special Love" for the first time. I enjoyed listening to it, I especially like the beat the DJ mixed in.

Good job overall Latif and Metro I give you an A+ !🙂
