K-lite 98.7, best light rock hits of yesterday and today, after so many years - IT'S no more. K-lite is done, it's gone. Genises;ub40,ace of base, fine young cannibles, beach boys, hall&oats, philcollins, wham, paula abdul, george michael, naked eyes, cher, it's now over, for K-lite has now become 98.7 THE PEEP, 70'S, 80'S, and whatever they want - as they now call it. (I actually thought they said "THE BEAT" and got excited until I found out what it was. I knew it would be too good to be true so I wasn't too dissappointed, I expected that I would find out I heard wrong, it's 98.7 THE PEEP) - Your best alternative to this now >MIX 96.9 - BEST MIX OF 80'S 90'S AND TODAY...<

IN OTHER STATES: it is most likely that
WILD 94.9 will be kicking off their CALIENTE MIX WEEKENDZ where the best of hip hop & r&b and some reggae (rhythmic format) can be heard along with SCIENCE; ANGELINA; ROCKELL; STEVIE B.; --------etc.---------

>THIS IS AN EXCLUSIVE LOOKOUT WEEKENDZ REPORT...
POWER 92.3 #1 FOR HIP HOP & R&B in Phoenix:
Has just made the announcement that their dance music show will no longer be running, it's done and it has come to an end.
_This dance show, titled "PROJECT GROOVE", featured the best in electronic music; trance, house, underground, freestyle/breaks, drum & bass, electro, hardcore, etc.
They've been running since 1997 on another station and is coming to a close here on Power 92.3, the only station that survived long enough to carry the mix show that many tried to imitate. This is currently the last afterhourz show in Phoenix that famously supported dance music... We all have memories that go way back.
ALSO: the lowrider oldies show, best known for classic hip hop, r&b and freestyle on Power 92.3 Sundays, broadcasting from 5-8p.m. the FREESTYLE segment, which was during the last half hour of the show, will no longer be half an hour, for now both segments of the 7-8p.m. will contain classic hip hop and just recently added "miami bass", which is cut very short and quickly changed back to classic hip hop.
_The Power mix WEEKENDZ will continue as scheduled, with the best of hip hop & r&b flava's mixed live every weekend for the remainder of the summer.
FOR ANYONE THAT WOULD LIKE TO VOICE THEIR OPINIONS, it's been recommended that they can go to www.power923.fm and click on "holla at bruce" which is the program director.
For news about the other stations,
104.7 KissFM does not play any dance music at all, they have currently removed ALL the dance music from their playlist and that's that. They may ignore you, but you may voice your opinion by calling 104.7KissFM at 602-260-1047 or visit the GAY 104.7 at www.1047kissfm.com and look for the suggestions / opinion box - however, of course, you must sign up and become a kiss club member in order to do so. The back in the day WEEKENDZ will continue throughout the summer.

Word has just come in that people have been calling the station, Power 92.3, voicing their opinion and saying that it wasn't until they heard their show that they knew anything about dance music at all..........etc. Also, a d.j. from California (possibly L.A.'s Power 106,) was visiting and asked on air what he thought of the whole situation in Phoenix. He replied by saying "it sucks!" I could tell by his tone he wanted to say more and truly wanted to go off on the entire state of Arizona but was intelligent enough just to stop right there and say nothing more on the air. I will also stop right here and post nothing more about this.
_Last but not least, I must announce that CLUB FREEDOM has shut down, this is the club that sponsored ENERGY 92.7/101.1 Arizona's Dance Radio, As of right now this station is doing a GOODBYE TO CLUB FREEDOM weekend.

Any other station that I have failed to mention here (even if mentioned above) has not, and does not play any freestyle music.
-AND THIS CONCLUDES THE "LOOKOUT WEEKENDZ" PORTION OF THIS FORUM, there will be no further posts for the remainder of the summer.

MY LAST 2 CENTS: AFTER ALL, IT REALLY DOES COME DOWN TO THE PEOPLE IN ARIZONA, IT IS THE LISTENERS AND THE PROGRAM DIRECTORS THAT CHOOSE WHAT THEY WANT ON THE AIR, AND IF FROM JANUARY 1, 2004 TO NOW WE WENT FROM TONS OF DANCE MUSIC TO ALMOST NOTHING AT ALL, THIS MEANS THAT THEY JUST DON'T CARE FOR IT. I'VE GIVEN OUT MY C.D.'S TO BE HEARD, STOPPED PEOPLE IN RANDOM PLACES TO LISTEN, PLAYED IN CLUBS AND HEARD THEIR COMMENTS, BUT I NEVER KNEW OR THOUGHT FOR A MOMENT IT WAS THIS BAD. NOW I DON'T EVEN THINK THERE ARE ANY CLUBS THAT PLAY TRUE DANCE MUSIC IN PHOENIX, AND IF THERE ARE ANY, THEY ARE NOT ADVERTISED ON ANY STATION! WE DO AT LEAST HAVE STORES IN PHOENIX THAT STILL SUPPORT AND CARRY DANCE MUSIC. EVEN THOUGH THE EMPLOYEES MIGHT NOT KNOW MUCH AND THEY'VE CUT DOWN IN DANCE MUSIC SO MUCH THAT THEY ARE NO LONGER KNOWN AS DANCE MUSIC STORES AND SOME HAVE EVEN CHANGED THEIR NAME, THE STORES DO EXIST. IT'S FUNNY THAT LOGICALLY THINKING, I CAN'T REALLY BE MAD AT PEOPLE HERE IN MY HOMETOWN, ARIZONA, BECAUSE AS SOON AS I STEP OUT, IT'S JUST THE NORMAL EVERYDAY LIFE OF PEOPLE WALKING AROUND, BUT THEN AGAIN IT'S THOSE SAME PEOPLE THAT ARE NOT OPEN MINDED TO MUSIC AND WHEN ALMOST EVERY RADIO STATION, D.J., AND ANYONE THAT SPINS DANCE MUSIC IN AZ TRIED TO WARN ME THAT THESE PEOPLE HERE ARE NOT OPEN-MINDED, I DIDN'T TAKE IT TOO SERIOUSLY. NOW THIS YEAR, 2004, i see the result. Somehow, I still cannot believe it's that bad, it's not possible that dance music is so bad that no station can play it or that nobody likes it. I just cannot see it, no matter which way I look at it. How does everybody just stop liking it at the same time?
A call just came in on Power92.3, caller says; "why is everyone hatin' on the house music out here?" and I'll end it on that note.

I must admit that I am very pissed off with almost every station in Phoenix right now, and if I ever get to that "comments" box, I think that will be it - NOBODY else will possibly be able to leave a comment because I might just be speaking for everybody if I start typing there, and as far as the Gay 104.7, you can just forget it. I can care less what they do, they are not even worth my time for leaving comments or suggestions. Let them keep their slow jams & dedications, play usher every 40 minutes, etc. Not only do they remove ALL the dance music, but they only select certain songs from the top 40, in such a way that they are neither rhythmic or top 40, so I came up with a name for it, and as far as I'm concerned - it's GAY.

All these people are calling: "man, I don't listen to hip hop and all the other sh**, I am house music, and that's what I listen to..."
"I can't believe you guys are going off the air... I've been listening to you guys ever since you were at 103.9 that's so sad......"
_There are just a lot of calls going on at the station and I really hope they start cussing on the air if that's what it has to come down to to make the program director listen. I was told by Energy 92.7/101.1 Arizona's Dance radio that a station isn't rated after 1:00 a.m. anyway so why is the dance show being removed? Power 92.3 has been doing well as a hip hop station with that show for a long time now and SUDDENLY they changed their mind. Is this really all ENERGY's fault? ever since they came around, all the other stations RAN from dance music, and even though I'm thankful for Energy, it's signal just doesn't compare to the other stations. I cannot listen to it on my walkman/discman. And I better make sure that I just stay away from having a favorite station for right now before I end up getting dissapointed again, I remember 103.9 Arizona's Party Station, 105.3 Que Buena, All those stations I used to love in Cali and had something to look foward to when I went there to visit relatives - they are all gone! AL3, supposively Arizona's #1 d.j. used to bring dance to many Arizona stations, Power 92.3, 104.7, 103.9,.....etc. then just dissappeared. His last word to me at a club was when he made an announcement to everyone that he wasn't going to play anything that comes on the radio that night because he's mad at radio and wants to stay away from it. Maybe a lot of people read this and think it's not such a big deal, but it is, and it will be even WORSE when people in Arizona forget what dance music is - but how can it be forgotten if what it is isn't even known?
As far as most people are concerned everything with a fast beat INCLUDING BOOTY BASS is techno, so now I can't even use that to try to slide people into dance music. It didn't really work in Atlanta, where everyone knows that booty bass is a part of hip hop and is cool, so what makes me think it would work here? Just listening to those stations in Atlanta then hearing the stations here make me sad. Atlanta, the town where almost nobody knew dance and no station played it, is just now getting a clue that there is more than just booty bass, and it seems like this "new music" is being discovered and picking up down there, plus it helps that a lot of their classics and old school songs are booty bass, giving the top 40/rhythmic stations more reason to and choices when it comes to playing or mixing up-tempo music. Here in Arizona, everything is falling apart. I just can't get over them just taking away a show. Well Typing is not going to change the situation so I might as well quit this for now. Voodoo & Serano is being played as I close this post, and by the time you read this message the dance show on Power 92.3 #1 for hip hop & r&b will no longer be in existence. I've already been very doubtful of Energy 92.7/101.1 and how their station is doing, despite what the d.j.'s are telling me. The way I see it, dance music opens the doors for freestyle, and without dance, freestyle wont be played on the radio. As for Arizona, NOBODY LISTENS TO TECHNO! and for those that know freestyle here, to them it's just a type of music that once existed way back in the day. I just can't believe this happened! I remember when it would sometimes get to the point where at times that dance show was the only thing left to turn to once a week, but now even that's gone! I guess I'm not going to see "The Day After Tomorrow" in theaters because this is the end of the world for me in live action here in Phoenix. I really don't know what else to say. The sun is coming up, it's 4:49 a.m. and there is less than ten minutes of the dance show left. I don't think I want to be posting anything once this show ends... I think I better stop now during this "damaged" remix by Plummet. .... and it's done... Nothing to do late Saturday Night's anymore, weekends are pointless once again after 7 years.......... I'll be back in a few weeks - just stay posted for my f.f.FUTURE FLAVA'S updates.

...Yeah... 103.5 had the "Decade of Dance"....and that was the best weekend of Freestyle since it went off the air in the early 90's. The only group I didnt hear was probably the "Bell Stars"...otherwise KTU played 'em all!!! Great job JA!

Hey,what are the chances that KTU could actually bring back something like "Freestyle Fridays?". If anyone has the "inside" influential ability,it would have to be you!....
Keep mixing up those freestyle tracks, they help to keep allot of us "young!".
