sweet sensation may have done all the things you said it did. but it was no freestyle. and it was made in 88 going into 89. and that is when freestyle was checking out.

now "ill give you never let you go". and ill even agree with you on the dates. and

ill even give you cross over. cuase i dont care about that.

but when it comes to clubs and tapes and carrying a sceene. that sweet sensation

letter crap didnt make to any club i remembered. and hardly on any tapes here in hudson county,.

and what club sceene it carried i dont know.

but on this one chuck might have me. cuase he knows more about sweet sensation than i know.

and i think chuck clubbed in 86.

and i didnt club untill 89 or 90.

but i use to get detailed reports in 86 and 87 back from the club in high school,.,

and all the tapes that were made here were from the club in those days.

i dont rem hearing dear i write you this letter.

but i do remember ""i'll never let you go"" that was on alot of tapes,..llol,.

100 through 300 llloll,..

Actually, "Sincerely Yours" got into the top 20 of the "club play singles" chart on Billboard Magazine.

Sincerely Yours is also on a few comps.

Freestyle's Greatest Beats, and Freestyle's Greatest Hits, to name two.

Wow, this is a really intense topic, but I will clear the air a little bit for you. Sincerely Yours was NOT the answer to Love Letter, at the time the album was being recorded we wanted to establish Sweet Sensation as a versatile group that represented all of the great aspects of latin, pop and r&b influences, (all of the types of music that we grew up listening to.) It was no secret to anyone that Sweet Sensation in 1988-1989 was on the verge of crossover success. Anyone who loved freestyle back then could not complain that with groups like TKA ,The Cover Girls,Judy Torres, and Cynthia etc, getting the kind of exposure that they did that the Latin Community finally had a voice and a very big one at that. Sincerely Yours allowed SS to explore different sounds and beats that represented a part of that latin community but was still able to be radio friendly and other markets could be exposed to freestyle. It might not be the "straight up underground" freestyle that some might have preferred but when I listen to all of the freestyle artists from back then they all had something special to offer. TKA and Cover Girls had different sounds from each other but were included in the same genre, yes? No different with Sweet Sensation, if you loved the music you danced to it and had great memories. If not, well you didn't then right? I understand and respect your opinions and rightfully so, as we all have our own thoughts on the subject. Love Letter was a great song and I think Sincerely wasn't too shabby LOL!!and if people enjoyed it then that's all that matters. Latinos everywhere united to the sounds of this genre it was MAGICAL!!!!

I think he was trying to hook up with her!! lol J/K OH the memories!! It was a great time to be a fan of freestyle in those days!! I remember I had that show recorded but I lost it in my first divorce!! :nutz

See!! That is what I am talking about! That feeling we all get when we hear a song or see a video. We need to lighten up a little and just enjoy life and freestyle! For what it was then and what it is now and what it will become!! Life is too short to condemn those who are not deemed "freestyle worthy" whatever that may be.

I hear that!! I remember all my friends and I would go to someone's house and record the videos. Then we'd have our little shows!! Drag Queens in the making!! LOL It was fun. Then we'd hurry to after school to see who was gonna be on Dance Party Usa Club MTV and other tv shows!! Some people for some reason seem to get all hot and bothered about small and insignifcant details. Back then it was about the music and clothing!! Not about "that's quite freestyle enough" or "why did a freestyle singer sing another genre of music:. That's just my little ole opinion!:face

Listening to "Sincerely Yours" and "Love Letter" brings back some great memories from my childhgod...I remember I would get together with my friends...the would come over to my house...and I would have all my freestyle records out...and we would play them...listen to the music...have fun...while we ate White Castle hamburgers....those were the days!!!!

listen folks both sound good but simcerly yours had so much more it was better arranged and had killer bass lots of bottom end hmmm something i think is a trademark with anything betty dee does :lol case in point "my Body"

Thats

what im talking about. sweet sensation song sincerely yours,. was not as underground as love letter,.. and didnt have the heavy freestyle beats love letter had. lets face it? but what betty Dee said is true,.,. that song wasnt meant to be straight freestyle it was ment to be cross over song.

yeah

and id didnt like the song. cuase it was the first cross over freestyle song,.., after 88.,.

and i didnt think it was nec to cross over then or now or never lol. and i also thought it wasnt what was needed to fight off hip hop and techno which was coming on real strong around early 89,.,.

but its all history now,.lol.

but i dont care what anybody tells me. 88 89,.,. was the years when we had to tighten the screws,..

on freestyle and put out hits.,., cuase house was coming on and tehcno was coming too strong,..,

and i dont care what anybody tells me,.. i think freestyle singers,..,got taken back,.,.

and i go as far as to say,.. that some were on the fence,.. wether they should keep going

with freestyle or not,..

thats the truth ruth ..lloll..,

and i dont even know that for a fact and i bet you thats what happened.,.

betty D could tell us more anyway,..

,..,llol,.

I understand what you're saying, but what classified freestyle was not the songs so much as the genre itself. Freestyle was a unique sound derived of so many different styles, some freestyle had more bass others had more percussion some incorporated heavy r&b influences,a song recorded by Giggles had a much different sound than one done by say, Lissette Melendez or a better example could be George Lamond. Each producer and artist created their own signature style by using different elements in the music. And so I have always believed that of freestyle. Sincerely Yours was recorded not for cross over success, that was happening on it's own with Cover Girls, TKA and other freestyle artists getting more radio play on stations across the country but to satisfy the need to incorporate all the sounds that Sweet Sensation was defined by.
