This has been bugging me for years...so I thought why not get the best people around to answer this question for me...my CF peeps...ok here it goes...(sorry if it sounds stupid) I was told a while back that Sweet Sensation's "Sincerely Yours" was the answer to Giggles' "Love Letter"...Is that true???

I totally don't think so!! It's like comparing a whopper to a fillet-0-fish!! They both are sandwiches but different types of restaurant! Do I make since? lol You can always as Betty Dee she's a member here. She'd be able to answer the question better than anyone else!! :aangel

lol,
I like them both, but they ar very different from one another, & both have special memories, & a place in my heart. If I had to choose, of course it would be my sistaz, Sweet Sensation! 🙂

"Gotta Let You Go" by Brass featuring Zeke (1987 Midnight Sun Records) is the answer record to "Love Letter" by Giggles. 😉

love letter was gigantic '86. sin yours was bleep on the radar screen in freestyle. in fact it was made when freestyle was dieing.

and i could argue that it was one the reasons why freestyle died. cuase house music and techno was coming on strong '89 when that stupid sincerely yours came out. thats when we most needed heavy underground beats and hits lol. and its when we least got em.

around that time '89. there was 5 house songs and maybe 3 techno songs coming out for every freestyle song. we were over matched. and that song was just weak

for what was needed at that time lol.

and then Kasan fell. we evacuated the embassy.and house rap and techno took over.

wait a minute im talking about vietnam or freestyle. sorry to many war
documentaries,.yesterday lol.

na that sencerely yours was beg of the end.

and the rest was history lol.

if im wrong anywhere mkg can set me straight. but im pretty sure

thats what happened.

thats song was to small for what was needed at the time.

kind of like the fish i ate yesterday in pt pleasant to small.

What? LOL

Sorry buddy, gotta disagree here.

Giggles was big with Love Letters, but never had cross-over appeal.

As for "Sincerely Yours", that song was huge in the clubs, and crossed over to the pop charts. It was a bigger single than "Love Letters" ever was. The video also got play (although minimal) on mtv.

Several other freestyle songs were big hits after "Sincerely Yours", so it was far from the "end" of freestyle. To say that would mean that songs that came after by Cynthia, Johnny O., Nyasia, Rockell, Collage, Willie Valentin, Synthia Figueroa, Pajama Party, Lisette Melendez, Geroge LaMond, had no impact on freestyle, which is not true.

LMAO

"Sincerely Yours" was released in 1988. Freestyle was just getting huge at this time and stayed on top through the end of 1991. Freestyle didn't begin to "die" until 1992 began and Freestyle music was forced off of mainstream radio by the end of that summer to make room for the transition over to R&B/Hip-Hop.

What the hell are you smoking? "Sincerely Yours" was 25 times more successful than "Love Letter". It came out in 88 and, like Chuck said, was in rotation on MTV. To say that it was why Freestyle died is absurd. A "blip on the radar screen"? If that was true, why is it on almost every compilation? Your post only proved 2 things to me. One, you can't spell very well and two, you have some sort of issue with Sweet Sensation / Betty Dee.

You left one out, Avenger...

Three - Doesn't know much about Freestyle. 😉

On a side note, the I used to use "FreestyleAvenger" as one AIM aliases back in the day... 🙂

I remember both songs quite well. Remember where I was and what I was doing.
I had the 12" to "Love Letter" and the full length album 'Take It While Its hot". by Sweet Sensation.

Now here's something for you...

Why did Sweet Sensation have an album out at the time of "Sincerly Yours" which also released more hits like "Never Let You Go", "Take It While Its hot", "Victom of Love" and of course "Hooked on you" but....

Giggles album with "Love Letter" didnt come out until 1992, Many years after the single came out. Hmmm, Could it be that "GIGGLES" was a "Novelty Act" ??
Yup, betcha many of you didnt know or realize that GIGGLES as heard on "LOVE LETTER", "What Goes Around, Comes Around" and "Hot Spot" were NOT all the same girl! Different girls were brought in to do those GIGGLES songs. Ever wonder why you dont see her "Face Image" on any CD, LP. etc. LMAO.
GIGGLES was a Novelty Act as where Sweet Sensation were the "REAL DEAL".

MAD PROPS to Betty Dee and Sweet Sensation for keeping it real!
PS. Love the new single "MY BODY". I got it and love the Mixes!
