in the UK, the term 'freestyle' is used in a totally
different way... It's more associated with the UK Garage scene (think
Artful Dodger etc.) and the method used by the MC to talk complete bollocks
over the already dire 'so-called' music.

That's correct, regarding the term Freestyle in the u.k.

There's crap in all forms of music though, I myself don't like the rap side of U.k. garage but the vocal side is whats receivng the airplay & chart postions. There's quite a few good remixes out at the moment. Eg. Usher's You Got it bad.

It makes a change from hearing the house beat constantly, with the same bpm's & similar sound to freestyle, it can only help to expose more people to freestyle.

I believe Freestyle could do with a new/fresh name, as the term freestyle over in the states refers to continuously making rhymes over a hip-hop beat.

Any ideas on a new/fresh name for freestyle, for worldwide domination?

Here's one: SEXY 3STYLE

Maybe its just me, but when I hear domination I think discipline. Too much S&M talk with Mike. LMAO. Just kidding on that one. But seriously, when hearing dominiation, I automatically think d and d. I dunno...maybe I'm just a sick freak. *sigh* :realsad

I was just wondering why we can't go back to using ELECTRO as freestyles well needed replacement name?

I believe this name is well known to most countries.

I think electro, breakbeat, 2 step, old school, planet rock, funky melody,... are ample international subcategories of freestyle. UK mega hits by David Beddingfield "Gotta get through this" amongst others, have ample room in our freestyle here, as evident by the numerous remixes on the pressed releases here in Canada.

A new name? ROFL

We are fans of Freesyle Dance Music.
I don't know why we would need a new name.
Why trash the great history of freestyle with a new name?

I just think we need-
Quality New Music with a slight swist on the sound.
AND - Professional acting artists that go on stage
and do the right thing & not embarass our whole crew.
