Lisa Lisa was interviewed and included as part of the 80's on the VH-1 special, I Love the 80's. She was interviewed and they even showed all her videos. Quoted as great Freestyle Music!!!!

wow i can't believe freestyle got so much support 🙂 congrats lisalisa!

THATS GREAT VICTOR. UNFORNUTANATELY I DONT GET TO WATCH MUCH TV BECAUSE IT USUALLY ON THE CARTOON NETWORK BUT IM GOING TO LOOK FOR IT.🙂

yeah I wacthing right now. Juliette Lewis even commeted on how she liked Can You Feal the Beat

Coooooooool!!!!!!! :yeey They did a whole schtick on Lisa Lisa. "Can U Feel The Beat" was Juliette Lewis' favorite!!! Someone else mentioned "I Wonder If I Take U Home"!!! And don't forget about Debbie Gibson... I consider "Only In My Dreams" and "Shake Your Love" 100% freestyle. And they said the word "freestyle"!!!!! I only caught it once by that Party Of Five dude, as he said it with a fun smirk.

More props than I would've expected!!!! Let's see what they do for '88 & '89!!!

I dont mean to start a debate with you but they were no where near "freestyle". Debbie even stated it herself once. She was TOP 40/POP(bubble gum).

Hey Kenny, ain't nothing wrong with a little "debate" 🙂 I don't consider top40 / pop a musical genre. Her songs were freestyle songs that "crossed over". Maybe they weren't hardcore, deep freestyle, but they certainly have that sound & could loosey be considered freestyle. Deborah is gonna say whatever is better for her career anyway.

thats true where as the artist has just about no say in what their song should/would be catagorized and its ultimatly the fans and the charts to decide where the song belongs.

to me, she was not freestyle. I dont know why. she was too "popish" (like Tiffany) and she blew up and ended on every tv show and magazine cover (a feat that no freestyle artist could ever accomplish)

she also had a nasty smelling perfume!

LOL Kenny...I had Electric Youth Perfume and it really did smell foul!! I think every girl in my school was wearing it that year lol

It was so awesome to see Lisa Lisa on the show last night!! And when Freddy Rodriguez from the show "Six Feet Under" said that "I Wonder if I Take You Home" was just a really good FREESTYLE song, I almost fell of my bed! LOL Id love to see even more freestyle artists mentioned tonight when they cover 1988 amd 1989!
