Did the miami sound machine ever work with lewis matinee? Production or remixes

or make any freestyle type songs?

if not why not. As they were around when freestyle began & they came from an area with some of the major players in the genre. They did dance music but no freestyle?????

Well, they did have that same "Miami" sound that influenced all the same miami freestyle acts in the mid to late 80s.

I forget which 12" it was but the beginning of the mix you would think for sure it was freestyle.

His name is Lewis Martinee.....I don't think so. Gloria and Miami Sound Machine were on their own. Lewis produced Expose, Sequal just to name a few.

Miami is a small circle and it wouldnt be a surprise that emilios camp and the martinee camp both used the same musicians etc. Miami Sound machine is a monster on their own.since the late 70's always created their own flavor ,yet utilized the sounds that were pop in miami's streets in the early mid 80's. In the early 80's that syncopated drum pattern that we call "miami sound",freestyle, latin pop etc.
"dr beat" from the Miami Sound machine is an example, so would in a way "Conga". But at the same time like nayobe "Pleas dont go" (she is also Cuban), you have to look at the influence from records like "crazy cuts", who was also drenched in latin percussion and horns. Music inthat time was very caribean influenced. Although Sequal, techno lust and the original X-pose was at the front, every latin pop group from Miami sound Machine to Menudo was utilizing that sound.

One thing for sure...Lewis Martinee in the early and mid 1980s was bigger than Emilio Estefan. In the hallways of EQ's (once pantera) i heard many tales. But one of the main ones is how alot of equipment of Lewis's first studio later ended up in emlios studio.

I cant answer if lewis did or didnt do a remix for them or anything. But i wouldnt be surprised, he has basically worked with every name out there and also outranked Micheal Jackson as songwriter of the year in that time period.

The more I think about it...We are all connnected through music.

Well I consider some of Miami Sound Machine's earlier stuff Latin Freestyle.
YEAH, yeah I KNOW some of you disagree, and that's ok. 😉
But if tracks like:
Amoretto's "Clave Rocks",
Sweet Sensation's "Take It While It's Hot" & Sincerely Yours",
Trilogy's "Latin Love",
Nancy Martinez "For Tonight", etc,
are Freestyle, then so is Miami Sound Machine's "Conga", "Mucho Money" (from the "Salsa" soundtrack), and def the remixes to "Rhythm Is Gonna Get U".

As for Lewis Martineé, I dunno for sure if he's worked with Miami Sound Machine, I wouldn't be surprised! (maybe we should ask). All these people know each other & go way back. Many of them are still friends today. But I DO know for sure that the Sound Machine has worked in Freestyle. Freestyle producer Avy Gonzalez (Sandeé / Genuine Parts/ The Beat Club) told us that they've worked in the Freetsyle world. They even did the famous horn licks on Sandee's "You're The One (My Heart Beats For)". How kool is that?? 😎
So there are connections with Gloria/Sound Machine & Freestyle. 😀
