White people supported grunge. White people can make or break an artist. Look at Vanilla Ice, Kid Rock, Eminem. White people supported them by buying their cds. Unfortunately, the average white Joe doesn't like freestyle. Ugly fact but it's true.

Mmkay guess I'm in the minority here! 😀 I'm white and I'm sorry but I did NOT support grunge. I do NOT support Vanilla Ice, Kid Rock or Eminem.

Eminem's got some good tracks just as Kid Rock does. Vanilla Ice...I'm not even goin there! LMAO

I LOVE MY FREESTYLE but I'm gonna agree with what Angie and others are saying...throw some hip hop in there along with the freestyle sound and I'm betting you'll have HITS after HITS there! It's about supply and demand these days. I've stated this before and I'll say it again...the more popular radio stations here in New Orleans cater to the HIP HOP crowd because that is what is IN!

Eminem has good tracks, DannyD, but lets face it.....he would be NOWHERE without Dr. Dre(not a white man, by the way) backing him up.....VANILLA ICE???? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! WTF??? First of all, he was something called a one-hit wonder, and his hit wasn't even anything original...he took a perfectly good Queen song and destroyed it.... his "Ice by Ice" book....well let's just say that anyone who confuses his literary talents with the likes of Leo Tolstoy should get a beatdown...and by the time he came and went, freestyle was STILL mainstream...and by the way, I know A LOT of white people who LOVE freestyle music

You can laugh at Vanilla Ice all you want but he laughed all the way to the bank with that one song. Sh*t, I didn't mean every white person supported them, just alot of them.

Maybe not in Texas, but here in New York, and Miami, and Chicago they did.lol Half of the people I performed to were Italianos.
You know all these complaints about freestyle, and how it needs something, well maybe this is the something it needs, why not give it a shot, since nothing else since 1992 has been working out, really what is there to lose?

As far as Vanilla Ice goes, hehe that was cute.lol yes he did laugh all the way to the bank I give the boy that much, and thank god for the ass whoopin he was going to get that changed his ways as far as music goes. If anything I respect him now for doing his thing, his true thing, not something he wasn't meant for..at all!.lol

Eminem, I think he has alot to say, but like the saying goes, a well put statement prevents a broken jaw..

Kid Rock..I think he sucks.

as far as most freestyle artist not knowing how to sing, that could be true or maybe they just didn't sound good to you, but that's ok. not everyone is going to like everything they hear.

I think we can all give out input with out insults, remember it's only a discussion.lol it's not etched in stone

Your ass is in Oak Cliff Texas. What's the population there 100 people. I've been around freestyle probably longer than you've been born. To say that most old school freestyle artists can't sing is insane. I'll let Naya handle you from here on in. Naya, please educate this young kid please.

I love it love it!! Great to see freedom of expression on here..finally!!! Smooth you said it!!! Some people on here never lived Freestyle, it was more than just music, it was a way of life!!! The old school artists were and will be the best ever!! How the hell can one say they didn't sound good? By the way I thought the population was more like 25.Excuse me Naya but can I step in to substitute.:blah to all who oppose

ok.lolol I am going to bed..muah😉

Not counting the news media and video music channels doing the WHERE ARE THEY NOW specials, you are actually the first person to mention Vanilla Ice to me in ten years....but really, Vanilla Ice was, and is, a nobody...the radio stations wised up and don't have the audacity to play the song, he blew whatever money he made, and because he ripped off THE ENTIRE MELODY of "Under Pressure" Queen also has rights to royalties....so he really didn't make much when you really analyze it

Not to mention David Bowie, cuz he is entitled to royalties as well cuz he was featured on the track!!

I don't mean to turn this into a Vanilla Ice thread nor does it mean I like the guy but he was criticized for sampling peoples crap then boom, here comes Will Smith, Puff Daddy, even Tupac and just about everyone in the rap game, then no one says anything.
Give the man his props since he was the pioneer of using highly recognized samples on hip hop music.

Real funny, gayboy.

And that's what is ruining music today....originality has taken a back seat...I'm not hating on Puffy, but I wonder how many of his fans knew off the top of their heads that his Missing You track with Faith Evans was sampled from Every Breath You Take by the Police....I guarantee you, not many, unless their taste in music is expansive, and they were around to remember the Police.....believe me DannyD, I've put this to the test...if you played the original songs that rap, and other songs get their melodies from, today's younger fans would look at you like you have two heads, LOL.....I still think that Jessica Simpson should be shot for what she did to Jack and Diane by John Cougar Mellencamp...yet another example of a classic rock song being butchered

No doubt about it Brklyn345. I've seen it myself. Teenage kids get shocked when they hear the original songs and act like they stole it from the rapper. Unfortunately Jessica Simpson and Vanilla Ice are from the Dallas area.

Please I asked before no personal insults I posted this up to get imput from everyone not to see people calling each other names lets be the adults we are and carry on with the discussion at hand not the name calling thank you I am reading through this thread for more imput before I respond again lol thank you all for your imput 🙂

Danny, if you go back and look at Marc Anthony's past he used to sing freestyle. You said that Vanilla Ice is laughing all the way to the bank. You are right because he's about to loose his house on star island in Miami. The ninja turtles movie gave him his claim to fame. Now he's a blast from the past. Until you know the facts and move to a real city that has it all keep your mouth shut. 34 and still don't know shit about the music industry. Holla Holla !!!!

well, at the time (even right now) everyone was doing it but he didnt want to give up his money. (i wouldnt!!)

Kenny, you know me. I'm all over and I've been to his house before. If he doesn't get his shit together it's over. That would be a perfect place for you and Diane. Sign in for the CF memorial.
Holla
