No AI summary has been generated for this thread yet.
Lets keeps talking, but no fighting on this thread mainly references to people smoking sh*t(it's very offensive to some)!! That's why it's hard discussing hip hop on here. Good ideas though.

I am glad that we are able to discuss this as adults and remember lets not take things personal its all about the music no name calling or dissing each other. I want some honest imput, Can we change anything who knows anything is possible right guys 🙂

Danny, if you put Marc Anthony in Texas stadium he would sellout all the seats. If you think that Marc Anthony is just hot over here and in Puerto Rico you need to get a copy of Billboard and do some extensive reading. Your ass is in Oak Cliff Texas. What's the population there 100 people. I've been around freestyle probably longer than you've been born. To say that most old school freestyle artists can't sing is insane. I'll let Naya handle you from here on in. Naya, please educate this young kid please.

Kid? Thanks for calling a 34 year old man a kid. And by the way Oak Cliff is part of Dallas that constitutes about half of Dallas and the D/FW Metroplex includes about 50 different cities with a population of a few million. And the only selling out he did is to his fans. But that's another story. I believe any Tejano band would sell out Texas Stadium before Marc Anthony. Not many Ricans here. Dude...tomorrow you're gonna be telling me Enrique Iglesias was a freestyle singer. Get off the pipe.

Which is why they need Hip Hop artists working with them.

honestly, any type of main stream artist would work, POP, hip hop, trance, r&b......if you get the right formula, you got a great track!

Marc Anthony might be a musical powerhouse in your area and in Puerto Rico but that mofo' ain't nobody down here. Sorry. And as far as the artists you mentioned, I'm sure many producers and A&R people have checked them out before and have decided they are not good enough. Nobody is gonna let a great voice get away.

well, what about K7? He had a great success as a mainstream artist.

Just because a handfull of freestyle artists came out on mtv and were heard on the radio for probably less than 5 years doesn't constitute mainstream. Did they have special shows just playing freestyle videos like they do rap? You must also realize their music was more like the pop music of that era but with a little bit of Latin flava to it. Mainstream artists are never forgotten. How often do you see freestyle now when they show old videos? How often do you hear freestyle on the radio stations that play '80's music?

didnt "grunge" have just about the same amount of fame in regards to time?

freestyle had the same (maybe more) and it went mainstream also. what constitutes your philosophy?

Dam, GIRL!!! Youre takin the fun outta everything! 😡

J/K!!!:blah

I dont support the idea of combining hip hop and freestyle. It's too distracting. In short, almost of our audience in the future will consist of hip hop. This is Clubfreestyle.com not clubhiphop.com. Everyone knows hip hop as it is but not everyone knows about freestyle. And I feel that this is the reason why this site is in effect, to raise awareness. Plus, competition is gonna be pretty heavy for you guys because theres already hundreds of hip hop sites. Let's stay original. I suggest a better idea in funding for this site.

But how are we going to show awareness to the hip hop kids of today with this site? ok, i know our beloved words has been "stolen" to describe hip hop terms and when some kid tries to look up "freestyle songs" or "lyrics" to one of his hip hop songs he will more than likely stumble across us BUT if he stays and reads what the site is about, chances are he is going to LEAVE ASAP.
BUT, if we start incorperating hip hop with the freestyle flavor then kids do a search for a song THEN he may stay and read how his favorite song came to be and quite possibly want to know more.

just my thought!!🙂

well, if peeps wanna see a callabo, say w/Freestyle and Hiphop, then u gotta spend MONEY. b/c NEPTUNES for example, don't sell beats for pocket change. Yuppers it would be nicey nice, but b4 u wanna make a hit, u gotta spend $$ to get $$. Also, like TYBLESS mentioned before it's up to the "listeners/fans" to accept whats playin' in radio, clubs, etc.

=p

White people supported grunge. White people can make or break an artist. Look at Vanilla Ice, Kid Rock, Eminem. White people supported them by buying their cds. Unfortunately, the average white Joe doesn't like freestyle. Ugly fact but it's true.

well, back in the day, both white and latinos supported freestyle. we supported the artists because we enjoyed their music and they always packed a club. things happened, times changed and freestyle faded away. it happens WITH ALL GENRES OF MUSIC. Its a sad fact of life.🙁

Ever wondered how HOT 97 ended up only airing hip hop music? Think about that ok. It was all about demand. I feel we are starting to commit the same mistake. Let's not let that happen to us also.

Yes, the demand. Why? Because Freestyle got boring and repetitive to the fans. It didn't evolve. Freestyle can evolve using some hip hop element but keeping it Freestyle. Or having a freestyle artist do the hook on a track like Ashanti for Fat Joe. Freestyle will most surely die if it doesn't evolve NOW. This ain't coming from me, it's coming from the STREETS. Let's not stereo-type Hip Hop as what brought it down , but embrace it as what can help it get back up.
