My 2 cents.............. The first freestyle record has got to be "One More Shot" by C-Bank... which hit at the end of '82!!!!!! "IOU" would probably be next, I think it's official release was '82, but didn't hit till '83 (as far as I can recall)....... a monkey wrench in this theory would be "Planet Rock", "Play At You Own Risk" and "Situation" which were '82 hits..... I don't consider those freestyle, but they're definitely records that had a major influence on freestyle's sound (which we don't need to discuss further, lol)
Donkey Jote (Don Quixote) lol I've never considered freestyle.
Al-Naafiyish, Jam On It, Let The Music Play, Give Me Tonight, IOU, Pop Goes My Love, all freestyle IMHO. 🙂

So now, doesn't this make her the 1st being that her song was released in '83 and Nayobe and Lisa Lisa didn't break until '84? And also being that Shannon stands by saying that Lisa Lisa & Full Force stole her sound.
