In Puerto Rico we all celebrate on the Eve of St. John The Baptist (our Patron Saint).

Today is the Eve of St. John The Baptist, on midnight we all have to go to the beach and jump in backwards for good luck.
It brings you good luck all thru the year. Some people make bonfires at the beach and they party and drink and have good time.

It's a tradition that everyone celebrates besides being summer time. All the hotels in Puerto Rico celebrate big parties at the beaches so everyone is invited.

I hear in Spain they also celebrate this one with big bonfires. So I guess its our herritage.

Good luck to everyone and those boricuas outthere remember to go to the beach at midnight :yeey

If I was in Puerto Rico I would deff eb jumping into the water but considering I am in NYC hell no the water is cold as hell and I might get caught in somethign with all the caca that flaots in the water lol but to all those following in tradition have a good one and send some luck my way 🙂

My sentiments exactly...ain't no way I am going to Orchard "Chocha" beach and getting in that water!!! I guess I will have to go to the corner and open up the firehydrant and get in!

But anyways Feliz Dia de San Juan Bautista!!!

They do the same thing in Montreal, QC...there it's called St Jean Baptiste 🙂

Damn wish I was on my vacation in PR this week! I was in San Juan at the end of May and OMG at how beautiful the island is. And our hotel was right on the beach. Shiat, looks like I'm gonna miss one hell of a party. Well now I know for when to plan my vacay for next year. 🙂
