Thank you everyone for your encouragement, and thank you Freestylewizard for your prayers and encouraging words they mean alot to me. But that phrase "Gods helps those who help them selves" is not scriptural, what the bible does teach is found in Proverbs Chapter 3 verse 5 & 6: It teaches; Lean not on your own understanding but in all your ways acknowledge Him (Jesus) and He will direct your (my) path. Jack is right and Freestyle wizard is right, we the Artists need to stand up for freestyle and push for not only our own material but for other Talented Freestyle Artist out here!

Old School, New School or the new format that I am in the process of creating New Generation Freestyle It does not matter we need to come together and request and request our Freestyle from all these radio stations around the country.
We need to let our vocies be heard, Stand up for Freestyle. Yes I like Hip Hop, R&B and POP, But here me out I also love Freestyle. Freestyle speaks to the heart and is slammin. For many years we didn't take Freestyle Serious and now we are paying the price for it, but things are going to change. I know that my God cares for me and my ideas and with prayer and Faith, cause it is said in the word; that if you have faith of a muster seed you can move mountains, and if I need to move this mountain of doubt, in order to share my faith, love and music then so be it.

And with the encouraging words and prayers of everyone here,
Freestyle will have it's chance. I am on a mission gather up the army of Freestyler's and lets make them know that we are not embarrassed or ashamed of our music...."FREESTYLE TO THE WORLD."

The impossible is possible for those who have faith, remember everyone, and that applies to everything in life.

I don't know about the other artists but I didn't wait in any kitchen waiting to perform at Hunka Bunka's. there were dressing rooms upstairs and the trailers outside which were full of artists. I think most of them did to mingle.

As far as a backbone, trust me babe I have a huge backbone!, but I will agree with you on one thing, one person an army does not make.

I support my fellow artists in trying to bring it back to its lustre. I love my freestyle and always will.

right now the only DJ with the COJONES big enough to play new freestyle is Johnny B. no one else. and it's being played Sunday nights from 11-12 or whatever time slot they gave him. I and I'm sure pretty much half of NY is sleeping at that time!! How the hell is anyone supposed to hear the new shit?

and I will continue to do the shows because as it is that is the only way our fans will have the opportunity to see the artist.

but have all made valid points, but what's the point in making points and talking about all the things KTU should do, when you need unity for this, and half the time most of the artists are stabbing each other in the back and talking shit!

and not only are the artists the ones to unite but also the fans. I'm talking about the fans who love you no matter what, the fans who go out and buy your songs from an actual store, not download it from somewhere. That is showing your support. I'm sorry if I sound bitchy today, but I have to say it. I spoke to someone yesterday who told me with a very huge grin on his face how he had over two hundred Freestyle songs that he had downloaded. That he hasn't bought a freestyle Cd in years! And I asked him if he was proud of the fact that those same artists who grace your stereo or car system are the same ones NOT getting paid from your DOWNLOADS!

Naya, you ROCK!!!!!!! Lets band together, flood their E-mail box lets demand our freestyle!!!!. I'm willing to contribute on the e-mail flooding. I'm getting a little movement down here to get Hot995 to team with KTU to syndicate the freefor all show to the station since KTU and 995 are owned by the same company(worthless clear channel). I click on the feed every sunday on the computer, the dance countdown show 995 airs (Ellen K's Rhythm countdown) sucks!!

Some of what you say may be correct, but there's a lot that you said that's
not right on the money. Amber does not have a video out on MTV, TRL, VH1, etc.....she doesn't even support KTU. She was a no-show at one of last year's KTU's events....to my understanding KTU said they would never play another record of her's or invite her to one of their events. Low-&-Behold a year later....she at Mircale on 34th Street....WHY? WHY? WHY? You explain it!

well why they took her back after she was a no show, I don't know, maybe she had a good reason for it? but another thing I forgot to mention, is many radio stations play what sells well. Amber has definitely sold more than Safire's new album so far, and is an artist with several recent hits. plus she is on a big label which also helps greatly.

That is so true, I know a lot of people out there, I must admit I am guilty to a certain extent when it comes to downloading, and I know this a big thing ever since napster came into the picture, I just finish bying the tka, safire, lissette greatest hist, prior to that I had bouhgt Cynthia cd, and I have an old school collection of vynil and cds from back in the days still intact, the stuff that I download is stuff that is really hard to find, now why am I saying this, cause Naya you are right artist dont get paid throuhg downloads, and for someone to brag about it in front you is insulting, in my opinion, and then you wonder why freestyle is no longer in the picture...

And the reason why I said that Debroah Cox and Amber would not perform at Hunkas is becuase it was a junkie venue and it was just used to fill the pockets of Vito Bruno and KTU.

Mircale on 34th Street is a Big Deal and Freestlye Artists at least should be given the chance to perform if they have a new album to promote...like TKA and Safire. I don't see how this can hurt the radio station. About your comment about artists lipsinking....ALL ARTISTS DO IT AT ONE TIME OR ANOTHER....i.e. Madonna, Janet Jackson, Britney Spears and many others. And many artists have sang off key.

And you mentioned that there will be a surprise Freestyle Artist performing at Mircale....OH BROTHER LET ME GUESS>>>>JUDY TORRES. What in the hell is going to sing..."There's No Reason For You TO Cry" or one of her other OLD SONGS! I'm so excited..NOT!
I don't want to complain....but it sounds to me your complaining too....I have a right to my opinion, and if you don't like it then TOUGH!!!!! Becuase if you really do work in the Inustry, youn should know that it's not enough just having a good record...it takes a LOT OF MONEY from the record companies to brainwash America into buying it. And as for your comment about alot of Freestyle songs today that suck, there's a few up-&-coming mainstream artists who have no business being in the English Market...Shakira, you can't even undertand a word she's saying, both on her record, radio interviews, even her Pepsi commerical is a thow back of the Madonna days! THAT'S THE POWER OF TOMMY MATTOLA & SONY....he could put a dress on a horse if he wanted to, put the right producer behind it, and convience us it's great, with the right video....And you know that's a fact.

I have to admit that some our favorite freestyle artist didnt look so hot. For instance a couple of the females during last years fever concert at club exit look like they came straight from the shopping center. they seem to be content. Even if you haven't been around in the spotlight for a few years, i think you should really do your best to impress the crowd.

and this goes for some of the male artists as well.

I know my girl SAFIRE is always looking her best! a true DIVA! always very fashionable since the beginning and in fine shape.

and freestylewizard, boy you must of been holding in alot of Sh*t! cause you are just all over the place, but you and robbie do make some good points.

NOT ONLY WERE WE HANGING UPSTAIRS BUT WE WERE IN THE VIP TENTS. THE KITCHEN WAS JUST THE LAST ROOM EVERYONE HUNG OUT IN AS THEY ENTERED OR EXITED THE CLUB, OR RIGHT BEFORE THEY PERFORMED.
 
just a note about performances...when i saw safire and cynthia i can say you know which one has been practicing and really giving her all....i dont mean to say anything against cynthia cause i think she is great, I LOVE ALL HER SONGS...but safire really was truly a lot better...her dance moves were all on the money...i mean she didnt miss a beat...her and her dancers were all in synch...it was rehearsed and she looked and sounded great...i mean it was obvious who was well practiced...you get what i am saying??? she gave a great show 😀
 
good points by all....

it's very true, a lot....a lot of artists have some kind of vocal track running while performing, some more than others...but like the wiz said, many of todays top performers either lyp-sinc completely (brittney spears, who has to cuz she cant sing) or have something running (j-lo).

this is not unusual at all....especially when they are using so much energy putting on a show, but even when they are not dancing...vocal support for harmonies, backgrounds and choruses is not abnormal at all. there are 2 different types of this...one is the all out lipsync whereas the other is just used for the support that a couple back up singers would do....like you would see mariah carey, whitney houston do and many, many other great singers do this but the only difference is that they use live back up singers rather than back up vocal trax....either way, both are used often and by many for various reasons.

as far as appearance, i cant argue with you there...but if thats the way they feel comfortable, then thats what they are gonna do. i think everyone would like to see people look their best onstage, but what you might think looks bad, the guy next to you might think looks good....to each his own and thats why we all have opinions...

singing off key....well we are all human..we are not perfect....ive seen mariah live and miss her note....ive seen whitney reach for a note that just wasnt there...so it happens, that does not mean they are not good singers or cannot sing or have been technically enhanced in the studio to sound good...but there are those who are not good, cannot sing and receive help in the studio beyond the norm...there always will be...you guys are all very knowledgeable, i can see that...thats what makes all these discussions great to read and be a part of...

i agree with you about marc anthony, but not india. i've seen many interviews done on her and whenever asked how she began she always mentions "dancing on the fire" and her "breaking night" album...and to this day still collaborates with little loui vega. and just this friday she did a show at the china club here in NYC and some one requested dancing on the fire and she gladly sang it accapella. she's never denied her freestyle roots.

On this board we are a cohesive unit!!We have decent numbers, we have FANS, ARTISTS, DJ's, PRODUCERS, RECORD CO's, now we just have to figure out how to UNITE & get the job DONE!!

Hmmmmmm.......Well guys it seems like everyone here has GREAT POINTS & VIEWS on why FREESTYLE Doesn't get the respect it deserves.....

On why some ARTISTS go up on stage not even making half the effort to look good or even try to have a descent show routines...


I personally can tell you my VIEWS and they are not from a HE SAID SHE SAID they are strictly from experience... I truly have seen a few things up close to understand why WE AS FREESTYLE DANCE ARTISTS have half the problems we do....

FOR STARTERS, there isn't enough UNITY!!!!-----WE SIMPLY DO IT TO OURSELVES!!!! I can actually leave it at that because that REALLY SUMS IT UP!!!!

But because I have grown tired of all the NON-SENSE I see I can't help but to indulge a little in HOPE THAT MY FELLOW FREEESTYLE DANCE ARTISTS/FANS/PRODUCERS/etc. read it and draw some conclusions in FAVOR of becoming a more POSITIVE MUSCLE in directing the MOVEMENT of FREESTYLE DANCE MUSIC to be again NOTICED RESPECTFULLY!!!

OK....here it goes-------What can you say when presently you have the likes of Nelson "FFWD" Cruz producing, arranging, and simply putting together a PROJECT that many of us know as "ARTISTS AGAINST TERRORISM" for the tragedy that has taken place on 9/11.... & after having 3 recording sessions all on different dates and in some cases the dates have been changed to cater to some ARTISTS who will go unmentioned here and yet don't show up... The same ARTISTS that cry and B#tch about why they don't get the respect they deserve and have the nerve to walk around with their NOSES in the air even towards other FREESTYLE DANCE ARTISTS!!! WHAT IS THAT ALL ABOUT!!!????? THAT'S WACK!!!

Granted some of these ARTISTS have given us some GREAT MUSIC but HEY if we all don't stick together which we don't then we can't expect this all to last or EVOLVE into anything GREATER!!!

In addition MANY have wondered why they haven't seen me PERFORM as I should be... MY ANSWER is that because I don't have the ACCESSBILITY to the MASTERs whom MIC MAC are in possession and we all know the problems they have brewing..So it leaves me unable to easily make a show tape worth listening to.....I PROMISED MYSELF that coming back into the BUSINESS I would have more control of my MUSIC and show tapes so that I can give my 100 % to the fans on stage vocally and performance wise....I TRULY BELIEVE some of us need to WORK HARD at this... and yet it seems as if it goes on DEAF EARS... When I have asked directly PRODUCERS ( as in 1 or 2 ) to help me in this case they have a MILLION and one excuses as to why they don't have the time... IS IT HATE/Jealousy/ WHAT!!!?????..... 🙁 ...Hmmm.....I am not sure.......but lack of UNITY comes more to mind... ...

I do nothing MORE to voice my opinions and thoughts with the idea of pushing us all forward....

CASE IN POINT======Some of you have probably heard in the last couple of months a PROJECT that JACK G and myself were planning to do... A Project that would help promote FREESTYLE DANCE ARTISTS via your ANSWERING MACHINES!!!

The PROJECT goes as follows====We the ARTISTS would record 15 to 20 second spots so that the FANS or anyone interested would be able to download them from CLUBFREESTYLE and place on their ANSWERING MACHINES... ARTISTS would have the time to say who they are while their MUSIC NEW OR OLD would be playing in the background.... This would give US the ARTISTS an OPPORTUNITY to PROMOTE OURSELVES to OLD AND NEW FANS/PEOPLE!!! & It would give the FANS an OPPORTUNITY to have their FAVORITE ARTISTS on their ANSWERING MACHINES.....

Now some make think less of this but it seems everyone who has heard of it has LOVED the idea... The ARTISTS THEMSELVES who I have approached personally were GUN HO!!! SO I ASK WHERE ARE these recordings for you the FANS to download... Your guess is as good as mine!!! With the EXCEPTION of several ARTISTS who are waiting for me to set up a STUDIO DATE so that we can get some recording done it seems as if everyone else doesn't care enough to make a difference!!!

So my fellow CLUBFREESTYLERS even though I am on the Down Low at times...rest assure I am constantly trying to make things happen.... & not until many of us on the inside cut the BULLSH#T with HATING On EACHOTHER and being all TALK AND NO ACTION FREESTYLE WILL REMAIN LIFELESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!😕

Your right Freestyle isn't taken serious, but music have to change regardless of what you think, Latin Hiphop, Club Music, and now freestyle have change through out the years, your going to tell me that you still dress up in your 80's cloathing? i think not, so don't expect for anybody to come back and party like if this generation has just started. I wish it was early 80's and early 90's. Thats when Music In general was the $#!T!!!! Not all the bull crap thats out now.

KTU should be playing new freestyle, everybody expect to hear and see them perform like Johnny O, Coro, George Lamond, & More, TKA, Nyasia, Cynthia, Safire, Body & Style, EXO and many other oldschoolers to do the same freaking song every time they go up, is cool Let them do one or 2 songs from back and the days, but also let them do their new stuff.
Has KTu Play them NO and if they have they only have play either in mixes or like in Safire's case only for a little while. So please don't say it has to be like the 80's because is not. There's plenty of very talented Artists who have what it take, yet do not get their props or get push back for those that are not good to be there from the get go.
So before you insult anyone please becareful and check out the facts first...

So for that I'm glad Freestyle WIzard, Johnny O, Naya, and Cjay has posted their views and wish all the new and oldschool artists the best int he up coming year....lets make it a good one!
