YOU guys are missing the point, there are many artists who we like or do not like, eveyone has their right to form their opinion.I am saying we should just support or try not hate on them. They have it hard enough trying to make it.I love the way Jennifer sings with passion and heart. To me thats the most important thing.True she may have limited vocals, but so do alot of artists. Many times artists who have great vocals, but lack emotion and vice versa.Example,I used to work at Tower and had peope looking for BREND k. STARR's version of " STILL BELIEVE" when MARIAH frst came out with her vesion.STARR isn't the great vocalist CAREY is,but people liked STARRs version alot better. We all listen to FREESTYLE an udertand you don't have to have the best voice to sing. There are great vocals and limited vocals in FREESTYLE,but both sing with heart, which is why we love the music so much.I will offend ROSIE PEREZ in saying that she is a well respected actress. Her perfomance in "WHITE MEN CANT JUMP" was overlooked by the OSCARS and had critics like SISKEL & EBERT saying she should of been nominated. Her perfomance in "FEARLESS" did give her a OSCAR nomination and many acting awards. She has been nomiated(USURE IFSHE WON)for a TONY and EMMY.She choses positive roles,to not degrade her race(NO MATTER HOW MUCH MONEY is OFFERED).Her work in such films as "DANCE WITH THE DEVIL"with JAVIE BAREAM,"SOMEBODY TO LOVE"with HARVEY KEITEL and "KING OF THE JUNGLE"with JOHN LEGUIZAMO proves that she is a solid actress in both the extemely hard acting of comedy and drama.I have studied acting for the camera and I am well liked by my piers and know acting is a hard to do and not easy.I defiintly look up to her, jennifer lopez, rita moreno, jimmy smits, edward james olmos,etc..in acting and uderstand that most roles they go for are looking for white, and you still go anyways beause you know that role does not have to be white!Well I do have lots of love for latinos trying to make it,I know I am.

Talent is talent regardless of race or ethnicity. If someone is truly talented, they deserve to make it. A lot of people try hard..some people get lucky, and some dont. My heart doesnt bleed for JLO or most other celebs...they have more money than my white self will probably ever see! lol

I feel ya and I believe you have a point here. :fkinaman
I believe I can sum it up in one word R.E.S.P.E.C.T.
for all those Latinos trying to make it in a hard ass stereotype world.

If you don’t like one artist , don’t bring him/her down, just respect him/her
For at least they are making it. :yeey

I am not saying I dislike Rosie perez because I don't like her acting which I don't I personally don't like her. it's a personal thing between her and I. as a person that is. now as a "minority" "Making it" in the biz, yeah I give her props. but that's about it..like randi said, some have had the good luck of knowing peeps or being the right place at the right time. As for JLo, just like any other person that makes it in this bullshit business, props to ya and yours.

LOL,for eveyone having respect, even if you cant stand them. The business is a family business, but once you get through the door,I give you lots of props especially if your latino!

What I don't understand is why when a female or male are followed by tne new or are in the public eye they become famous cause of there looks and every guy/girl would love to get with them; I mean really how many girls out there are ten times hotter than J-LO. Cause there not famous there not given the credit they deserve remember now matter how hot or famous a female or guy is, there is someone out there tired of there shit!!!

That's perks of the job, in showbiz you got your friends (???) and you got your enemies. Still you're famous, either for your friends or your enemies. That's just it.

You have people who like you and people who don't. It comes with the job of being famous. Ted you have a point, there many prettier girls outthere than JLO it's just that she's made it.

I'm proud of JLO, simply cause she's made it big and she's Puerto Rican. All Puerto Ricans (I speak for the ones living in the island) are damm proud of what she's accomplished. As well as for all those who have accomplished so much before JLO (Rita Moreno, Benicio del Toro, Rosie Perez, Marc Anthony, La India, Ricky Martin, Chayanne & many more). We all render homage to them when they take the time to visit our small, but famous little island.

This topic was pretty good so i gotta drop my 2, lol.

As far as Jennifer Lopez (cuz das whut her momma named her, so das whut I call her-forget J.lo), I definitely think she's a good actress. More importantly, whether it's consciously or not, she's opening doors and making an easier way for the next generation. For that, she should be recognized (before death) because she's definitely leading the pack right now. Look at the way she's hyped, all u hear about is Ben Affleck & Jennifer Lopez. Mainstream media is not paying attention to anything substantial that she has done. She's kinda the Rita Moreno of the so-called: generation "X", as far as acting accolades go. As far as her singing, No comment! lol But I think the original post of this thread was about support and unity which is always important.

As far as Rosie Perez, that's cool peeps right there. I think when she started out she got a raw deal and fell into the type-cast, stereotypical roles ("White Men Can't Jump", "Do The Right Thing") which happens to a lot of young, minority entertainers. I think that's why some Latinos kinda turned her off. But I'd say within the last 10 years, and coincidentally around the same time her popularity decreased, she has been playing some solid roles ("24 Hour Woman", "Dance With The Devil") that don't have any color lines, could be played by an actress of any color. Again, minority entertainers get caught with the burden of having to please 2 audiences: the mainstream, and the streets. Then it seems when they get more clout and they don't have to play into the common, stereotypical shyt, no one pays attention at all. So media kinda sets a double standard for minority entertainers. What can ya do?

so true mark, the media has alot to do on how we are being protrayed and they love to tear celebs down, its what sells. Not just latino but every celeb, remember when RICKY MARTIN was so popular and they loved tearing him down with the sex business,ec..who really cares what his sexual prefrance is?They portray what they think what sells. With the BENIFER busines there doing the same thing! Also, the media portays us,especially in california. They believe that every latino is mexican and we just crossed the borders. They dont understand that PUERTO RICAN/MEXICAN/CUBAN ETC...are all different, they only see spanish. They think we dont speak english and understand american culture, which we all know is untrue, many of us just speak english and are generations born in U.S,some of us are bilingual, and some of us just speak spanish.Hopefully the non latino and media understands this in the years to come because soon we will be the number one minority.

O.k. So What Do You Think About Maraih Carey Re-doing Two Freestyle Love Jams? She Re-did Brenda K. Stars And Now She Re-did "all Cried Out" With 112. PersonalLY I Don't Like The Way She Re-did Either. I Think She Should Have Left Them Both Alone, But What Do You Think?

Mariah lacks the emotion that BRENDA K STARR did with the song.Thats one good reason not to redo a song, unless you can deliver it another way that seems like another song ,that you can call your own. For,"ALL cried OUT",no one delivers it better than LISALISA,no matter how great their voice is,some songs should never be redone.Mariah should just stick with her original material!!!!!!!

Thank You! That's Exactly How I Feel About The Situation! Nobody Can Do Freestyle Like The Latinas!!!!

There are certain jams that should not be covered and if they are thier quality compares to theme park performances all cried out has been ruined a second time (r&b group allure damaged it first. Though the house remix was decent)
Hell I didnt even like when Brenda herself redid I still Believe in Salsa. I understand why for the crossover to listen to latin Music but I wasnt thrilled with it. But at least it was her.

Now on the other hand Ricky Martin did a good remake with Loletta Halloway's track.. He actually suprised me and he sounded like he had fun with it and it came through in the song. Thats what makes a song.... "personality". And thats what makes the originals better. It was the artists personality that came through. I didnt hear Mariah's persoanlity.... Just her money. So I wasnt thrilled.
