How many of you would say that its a good thing to be proud? over the course of the past few days I've had quite a few ppl tell me that my pride will be the end of me one day. But I can't help it. I have had to work so hard to get where i am today that I don't want or can't be dependent on anyone else. whether its a friend or someone who wants to be more. little gestures such as wanting to provide for my children and myself is a no no in my book and well some ppl just don't seem to understand why i'm like that. I always have my guard up thinking or assuming that someone is out to do me wrong........so far i have not been proven otherwise so how do you guys feel about this one?

Nessa, you scared me there for a second, I thought I was looking in mirror. Girl, I believe these words and act upon them everyday. I depend on me and no one else but me. Why? Because I'm always there for me.
 
Nessa, Cheree... same here... I have been doing for myself and my kids for a LOOOOOOOONG time... if I need something that I can't get myself, I go to my parents, but I have to need it realllllly badly and they know it's ALWAYS A LOAN and I ALWAYS pay it back... cause my pride won't let me ask ANYONE for help.. but I'm NEVER too proud to ask for help from GOD!
 
It's good to have pride, but when it keeps you from admitting when you are wrong, or to ask for help when you truly need it, then there's a problem...a few of my relationships have been busted up because of that. :sosad
 
You ladies should take great pride in yourself for achieving so much especially on your own! That is hard. You deserve every right to be proud everyday of your life its a beautiful thing.

Me I take pride in being a Puerto Rican 😀 Because I made sooo many friends especially from other countries like brazil, columbians etc and they all told me to NEVER lose myself because im a proud person and a good person. So I take pride in that. 🙂
 
tru.. pride is a good thing to have. but its also a bitch. Sometimes u need to let ur guard down and be vunerable, but only with a selected few. and if u get done dirty by someone.. yeah it hurts like hell. but in the end... theyll get theirs eventually...
 
Yes, you can have too much pride.

Example. I want to date a guy who wouldn't be too proude to let me see him cry, or be scared or weak, because everyone has those qualities to them, whether they admit it or not.

I want to feel that he is secure enough to ask for help, and I want him to turn to me for that help.

If he can't do that, I would end up feeling "not needed" or "not trusted".

Everyone should be albe to turn to the ones they love for help.
 
I hear you Nessa! You should be proud of what you have done for yourself...I am very proud of myself and everything that I have done for myself...and if somebody has a problem with it then by all means don't let the door hit ya where the good Lord split ya...
 
LMFAO i hear ya ppl but chuckie I'm like that one guy u mentioned. i will not let anyone see my weak side or get under my skin like I have let others do in the past. I been hurt too many times to go thru it again. i guess that is where my downfall is .......... MY PRIDE

I hear you on not letting people get under your skin, but by keeping him from helping you, you are depriving him from getting to get to know you better.

yeah well I've made the mistake too many times to let the wrong one in......my heart nor my soul can take another rejection and heartache like that 😀 hence why I am the way I am. it may not be the best but u know what........it gets me by
