I'll be heading down to Southern Florida over the Thanksgiving weekend (Nov 28-Dec 4), and of course, I was wondering if there is any freestyle down there.
I intend to listen to Power 96.5 I remember they had a freestyle show on Sunday mornings at 10:00, but that was a year ago. Just wondering what else to expect. Is anyone performing there?
 
Yes, ....but forget Power 96.5
If u want a good freestyl mega mix, listen to da Salsa station "Salsa 98.3" for the Street-Party mix weekdays-Sat at 12 noon, & another one at 8pm.
THey play da oldskool stuff like:
Latin Rascals
Expose'
Safire
Noel
Tina B
TKA
Shannon
Nyasia
Cynthia
etc, etc, ....

Another station that occasionally plays Freestyle is Mega 103.5
earlier this year they had "Freestyle Appreciation Month", with many artists coming in for live interviews.

And sometimes on da Dance/Trance station, "Party 93.1" will play like Debbie Deb etc.

you forgot to mention..not only doese salsa 98.3 play all thet stuff,
but they play also the hard to find, hard to get to, rare records.
also miami freestyle..the Good sh*t that we used to pump out of the speakers.
dan haro, genuine parts, tony marino, magazine 60, power patrol, cynthia roundtree, bad boy orchestra, amareto, teaz II pleaze and all and also hi nrg records of that time also.

that good stuff that is so rare to hear on radio these days..

and its all mixed by the one and only.. the chief raymond hernandez...one of the original freestyle hot/power mixers along the sides of ciro llerena and felix sama.

anyone can play freestyle on the radio in miami, but these were the pioneering mix djs.

clubs..if anything
just liten to mega 103, usuallythey have fever renaisance wednesday nights. good music, but hardly any people, since it is catered towsrds a older crowd..in their 30's (who have to be in bed by ten for work the next day : there is nothing more entertaining than watching a 30 somthing cuban american lady in spandex boping up and down to trenneir's "all night".

oh, the buffet table is free, so feel free to pig out all you want. since your in miami, do like the natives and stock up on lechon.
theres lots of it, especially for the hollydays.

Look I love our music just as much as anyone but Miami isn't into anymore. I can't tell you how much I miss Alcazaba Saturdays and FS Fridays at Emerald City in Ft. Lauderdale, Sundays at St. Croix. I wish they would bring all that back!!! I'd give anything to go back.

lol, nah, i know what you mean.
they aint with it at clubs with the old school no more, unless you go to the mega saturday night parties and salsa 98 parties.

but you do get a good earfull of freestyle/breaks if you go to cutting edge clubs. but you also have to put up with all the other stuff they play. butthats also hanging with the college crowd and stuff.

you actually have to know who the dj is and what is his format.

but we get around.

its not like 86-92..but hey.

the other day isaw a old lady at space. she must of been 80 somthing.
i think she was rolling and blowing up (im blowing up!!).
but im sure she was around way before the days of celi b..she still rocking.

(actually she was reminding me of the old lady drom studio 54 the movie. me and my freind were waiting to see if she croaked also,lol).

she didnt.

nah, we still kiking in miami. but its not like old miami. but we kiking with the breaks. bigtime.freestylebreaks!!
 
one more thing!!

i will be throwing events in miami next year, maybe febuary. a night where you can hear freestyle and hi nrg from the early-late 80's.todays breaks, trance,house and cater to a large latin, college and gay crowd. mostly mix of everything. but freestyle is the essential.

like a present day casanovas.

have artist perform, both trance, house freestyle and freestyle breaks. but bring back concerts to miami as well. and make then classy events..not cheesy ones. no flipflops and jeans on my stage,lol.

drag shows as well, lol

By the way, I was there last nite, & CF member, (my boy), BBOY3000 (aka: Marlon) waz there. He actually came from NYC & we had a blast. He got a lil' f****d up though! - LOL!

But it waz kool. & T.P. Lords' show was off da hook!!! The crowd went crazy!
Poizon was there also but did not perform.

You guys want freestyle action in Miami, I suggest you check out the Winter Music Confernce from March 18-22. South Beach is gonna be packed with artists, labels, etc. Last year, I went with JOHNNY 'O and we had a blast. I know ASHLEY was there too!

(actually... i do recomend some freestyle artist..(i wont mention names) but i do recomend them to go see a drag show. they sure enough can use some inspiration from someone like tp lords on how to put on a show (maybe how to walk and talk like a woman).

and marlon, you dont really have to force Xtacy to swollow anything. hed swallow it if hed wanted it, believe me. did she have her pepper spray and collection of switch blades.

mickey garcia showed up..frank lords was there.johnny o was ther (trying to get his record played).
im going to have the suport of all those labels again and maybe more to jump on my wagon.

breaks and freestyle artist willbe the focuz again.

oh, and heavenly...i thought that club coleseum was booking freestyle acts in tampa.
and when i went to tampa i do hear freestyle onthe radio in the midday mix show. is that still going on.

oh, and the club coleseum in ft louderdale is a totaly diferent kind of club from tampas coleseum. in ft louderdal boys act like girls and girls act like bois. it gets confusing cuz sometimes its a mix crowd and then you have str8 acting out of town new yorkers that originally hail from HIehLEA (opa loca hielea is the place to be!!
