Is Age really nothing but a number?

hmm . . . cause I have a little issue. I'm 22 and the guy who I am a bit interested in is 31. I mean is that a big age gap? cause I dated someone who was older and well he said I was too young, but that I was mature and what not so I dont get it. Perhaps there can be a problem b/c of where we are in life. I go to school, he works but I still see nothing wrong if there is a mutual liking and the mental level is on the same page. What do you guys think?
