I have a whole bunch of friends that want to know something! Is India a Santera? That's the reason why she recorded Love & Happiness, which is about 2 orishas, Ochun (river) & Yemaya (Ocean)!
Anyone knows about this???

I'm preety sure she is..but unfortunately that religion isn't very accepted by "christians" so she doesn't really say she is.just like celia cruz has never really admitted it....but i know for a fact she has recorded whole albums with the santeria music. whatever...everyone has their own personal thing to believe in. it's all luv...
 
It's true not a lot of "christians" would accept that, but yet again?!?!
When that song came out in 95/96? My re-born again friends were jamming to it! Since a lot of my family is in it, I know my stuff. I busted out, "Ya know that that's a song has to do w/ Santeria?" They looked @ me like if I was calling upon the devil or something! Funny S##T!
India's super cool to me, and I love her voice!

I do beleive she is involved in something.
Cuz I remember chillin wit her on her Tour Bus, & she would spend a while whispering in the bathroom with candles.

I got the song from CDNOW it's in a various artist CD. It's not a mix, it's the whole song! This is the name of the album: Making Headlines : 5 Years Of Strictly Rhythm. You could order it from CDNOW!

I really don't want to get into the subject, but I must rectify something. I’m EXTREMLY familiar with this subject, due to my upbringing in this religion!
As for the saying about Yemaya (Ocean), She's only 1 saint, not several! She's the mother of all the saints (that's why in the song India calls her, Universal mother), and Protector of All Oceans. Ochun(River) is the protector of the River, and the Love Saint!

Whether you take it as a folk story, or something else! This song is uplifting, physically (the great beat) as well as spiritually (the lyrics).

i can tell you for a fact that she didn't have liposuction. through out the last couple of years i have seen her lose the weight lil by lil. it wasn't an all of a sudden she's thinner kind of thing. she did it with alot of hard work (and a very expensive chef).
 
I believe she is. Celia Cruz is her Madrina for all those who didn't know. (at least thats what I was told). As far as her being a Santera I don't think she's gone thru with the whole thing. She can practice the religion but that doesn't mean she is a Santera. I love her music. And to that I say Ache!
