Rhoq, I know you've been a huge supporter of freestyle and trust me If I were to meet you, I would give you a huge hug!! The freestyle nation board was too long for me to remember. But the point I was trying to make is that mix tapes hurt more than promote.

Sammy - Thank you. That's why you are our hometown hero (ok, so you are not exactly based in Philly)!

Any plans to record again?

No plans to get back into the game. Thanks again for your support!

He probably cant afford to get back in the game, bacause of the money he wasted on relaseing his album by himself with no distribution. Nobody would pick the album up bacause no one would buy it - people were too busy bootlegging his shit!

Sammy C is right....
mix tapes hurt more than promote.

Freestyle is in absolutley NO STATE to be charging DJ's money to use a track on a Mix Tape

The only reason that could be interpreted for truth is because years of bootlegging have squashed the profitability of Freestyle music

Ant-Phoney:

I did not say "Open your eyes" was a Sammy C song so dont be an:shakinboo 😉

Now: Stop bootlegging freestyle music. 😎

You might all know of some of the Freestylemixes what came out of Germany......they all were Bootlegs and do you know what happened ???
Some guys who were involved with that things that are going on with those Mixes go to the police and gema overe here and say that they know some people who Make such Mixes and sell them......
The Police caught up a few People and one of them told the Police everything what he knew......The Head of the guys and some Mixers and went to Jail and have to pay a lot of money...the Mix Equipment and some Computers were taken by the Police, too....Also the company who made the Covers /graphics etc. had to pay money also.....
This is just to let you know what happens here in Germany....

I want to just add a couple of comments. Over the years
I have been a background singer for some of the old school
freestyle artist. I have heard many stories about how
indepent labels have not paid what is due to the people
sign to these labels. MicMac have been known for not paying
there artist and keeping all of the revnues. It's no secret
that this has happened. This is why I am surprised that
Mickey would come to a freestyle site and accuse members,
DJ's, and etc with a lawsuit. Mickey maybe you should keep
note of whats in your backyard before you go accusing people
with a lawsuit. I think that all the artist that have not
been paid should put a lawsuit out on you. If I were you
I would truly be on the down low.

Me as a singer would NEVER sign to any label you are involve
with. Let this be a warning to all those that are
considering working or signing to this individual. I could
bet my life you will not see any $$$$$$$$. Please keep this
in mind. Taz keep up the good work, you are one of the reasons
I keep coming back. Jack G I think your a very smart person
you have created a site were us freestyle heads could meet
and discuss freestyle.

Let the record show that any artist that has ever been sign
to MicMac have been exploited for only the owners gain, not
the artist. MicMac has only been in this business to steal
$$$$. Sorry to blow your bubble Mickey, but you really
should have kept your mouth shut. :blah

Oh nooooo!!!

Here's my take as a DJ, and as a Accountant:

1. Mickey does have good points reguarding Bootlegging. It equals to STEALING (NOT STEELING). However, you should worry about the people with major bootlegging operations, not the DJs that promote your music.

2. Due to reasons that RIAA has exposed, I don't do mixtapes or mixed CDs. If I am correct there is NO legal ground to favor RIAA on CD Mixes (ask DJ Muevelo who has won many bootlegging cases against him).

3. To all record label execs here: if you do not use the three "P"s in Marketing (Product, Placement, and Promotion), your recordings will never see success.

4. Mickey G had a great label in terms of music, but Mic Mac SUCKED big time in Marketing. Did you ever think of filming music videos to be aired Club MTV, MTV Street PArty, Second Generation, Much Music, THE BOX, and many local music video shows. If "Dreamboy/Dreamgirl" had a music video airing on the outlets I mentioned before, the sales figures for that single would had at least Quadruple the actual sales. Why do you think Aldo and Amado Marin from CUTTING RECORDS (your rival label which is still in business) were beating you on sales figures and airplay? Tough One, hah!

I hope this posting may bring some sense to Mickey G's ASAP. I feel him reguarding bootlegging but he acted very immature.

As I will continue to say.....

Freestyle in it's current state cannot take such a stance with Mix Tape DJ's. There is very little radio left that will continue to play Freestyle. This is still the best way to keep Freestyle ALIVE on the streets. Like I said, the real cheats are the ones that are bootlegging WHOLE cd's and selling it for $5.00 on the streets. But Mix Tape DJ's are not in the same category, no matter what anyone says. The Buzz is always created by them, the music is always kept alive by them. The circulation of these Freestyle tracks by DJ's are far more than any current company can put out, simply because the money ratio is too much in what is simply a risky investment. Freestyle is a "Risky Investment" now, no longer a sure thing. The demand is nil, radio play down, and marketability non-existent. There is little buzz out there on the new school talent to mass-produce mix tapes and distribute nationwide. And even it someone took such a step to spread out units. WIll THEY MAKE THEIR MONEY BACK? Like I said, the best way possible are the Mix Tape DJ's. Freestyle is no longer what is was, and should except ANY help in continuing to spread the music to fans that still listen. Like Jack G said, the REAL criminals are on 5th Ave and CHINATOWN. Not in a bedroom with 2 turntables, a mixer, some Freestyle Wax, and a passion for the music.

man this is getting good madden you expressed your thoughts and dug up some unknown info. damn why did i start all this
