Hey all, how the hell are ya?


A friend of mine Is a DJ for one of the clubs out here. He really doesn't mix or play any freestyle in the club, we got into a debate on the popularity of Freestyle music and the affects it would have on the crowds. He belived the crowds would be turned off by the music so, I finally conviced him to put it to the test on one of the off nights (WEDNESDAY), he got the OK from the club owner and went with it
(Freestyle Cd's supplied by me)to his surprise the crowds reaction was positive to say the least. He was then allowed to attempt a Friday and Saturday night mix, with the same results. So here is my delema, the club owners want him to copy all of my cd's rather then he or they purchase them, even though I think this is a great avenue for others to hear Freestyle. I BELIVE THEY SHOULD SUPPORT IT BUY PURCHASING THE SONG LIKE I HAVE.... AM I WRONG TELL ME YOU OPINION.:confused

I spoke to James(DJ)a little while ago and explained my point of view and he feels if for nothing else as the (DJ) it's his responsibility to provide the music. So I'm compiling a list of songs and artist for him to purchase. His only problem is he would like to have everything in 12" versions. But doesn't know who has Freestyle in 12" anymore. Can anyone here tell him where to go?

I think you should let him copy yours. If it means you can help to bring freestyle into a club that doesn't normally play freestyle. It's more exposure for freestyle which could lead to more sales for freestyle in the "big picture" of it all. How many times u been up in a club and heard a record so tight u HAD to go bug the DJ out for a minute? Everybody's done it! lol It's more exposure for the music, not a time to be start being difficult.

I tried to get one of my friends to play some freestyle. Since he is also a DJ that uses cd's, I told him he could use mine. But he really wasn't interested since he only DJ's "goth nights". So that probably definitely wouldn't have worked to well. lol

If you can do it and help bring freestyle back to clubs, go for it!

i think it all depends on the way you think about it. if you let the club copy your cd's then the club-goers might like all that music and go buy it themselves. but if you don't, and freestyle's hard to get in your area, the club might end up not playing that much freestyle in the end. so bottom line if freestyle's easy to get in PA, then don't let them copy. but im glad to know the club-goers are liking freestyle.
 
ted, as a dj he should already have some(if not all) freestyle,as i carry all music from freestyle to rock,regga,salsa and some country(dohhh) and at the same time the club should be convinced to get some,some clubs give the dj's a spending limit to get cd's or records,but i do not support make-ing copyies of ALL your music,(maybe the hard to find ones)..........vapro
