Gina I did it about 2 years ago it was actually pretty cool & interesting & I'm glad I finally did it....... I had a motorcycle accident on the Verrazano Bridge case...... were u interviewed yet by the lawyers????? Cause it's easy to get out of it at that point........ for instance some people said they didn't like motorcycle riders & they got off...... anyway.... good luck!!!!!! 🙂

Well I've been on jury duty years ago and thankfully the jury I was on was short and sweet. The case lasted only one day. I was fighting to stay awake during the proceedings. You can get out of jury duty if you have a medical condition or if you're traveling during that time. Of course you'll have to provide proof of your travel in order to be excused. There could be other reasons to be excused. You will have to call the court and find out what those reasons are.

If you can't get out of it and you still have report then you'll possibly be looking at all of this:

Once you get to the court house you'll be herded into an auditorium with other prospective jurors. A judge will show up and give a short speach then give everyone an oath. You will then wait for your name to be called and taken to a court room where you will see the accused with the defense attorney, the prosecuting attorney, and the judge. The defense attorney and the prosecuting attorney will ask all prospective jurors questions. Everyone will answer and then based on the answers you give and/or other factors you will either be disqualified from that case, or be on the jury for that case. If you get disqualified you will either be told to go home, or go back to the auditorium to be called for another case. It's possible you can go all day at the court house and never be selected to a jury. It's also possible you can be selected for a jury. If that's the case then you better hope that the jury you're on has a case that is short and quick. You don't want to be on a murder case which could take weeks. Just drink lots of coffee if you do get on a jury. Whatever questions are asked of you try to answer them in a way that will most likely get you disqualified. I hope this helps you out.

i feel sorry for u. hope your job is gonna pay u a full days pay. the money jury duty gives is awful. good luck and bring something to read.

Hey 4ever where did you get summoned to? Was it the county in Jersey City or Federal in Newark? My damn luck, I got stuck with both in less then a year! In October I had to go to Federal, and right before selecting the jury, I got cut in the last round. Then last Thursday I had to go to county and ended up getting dismissed cause one girl in the jury pool was running her mouth against the plantiff, so it kind of "tainted" the group.

Basically just be ready for a long day of sitting around and waiting.

:lol @ LaNeno

Ok, I had it and SURVIVED. It was soooo boring and the first day they called me into the courtroom and started to select a jury for a case about (A MAN ACCUSED OF SEXUALLY ASSAULT A CHILD)

HELLOOOO, I am totally wrong for this case for him anyway, I wanted to hang him already.

They gave us questions to answer and one question which was something like, if I had any personal feelings towards the nature of this case... and of course I checked YES.

The judge asked me to go to the side of his desk along with the two lawyers and he asked me what my story was and I replied,

"Well, your honor, when you said what the case was about, my first reaction was "BASTARD",. I looked at the judge and apologized - which he chuckled and said no problem, I've heard worse... then he asked me if I thought I could listen to the facts and make my decision based on that and I just said I don't think so. He just smiled and said, ok, I'll excuse you then.

That was it.

That man could have been a victim of an evil woman lying about what he might have done to the kid because I know a girl or two that would do such a horrible thing, but I didn't care... I wanted to hang him anyway.

I am sooo glad it's over.

Thanks for your responses!!!
