Hello people, you guys all know me, and know I have never disrespect anybody unless I was drawn to. I have always said that I’m a fan first, and this same topic is going around by another friend of mines Anthony A. and it sad when fans violate the artists Rights. How true are things who know? I got email this morning and this is the first things I read as a Subject: “BOOTLEGGING YOUR ALBUM (ALEX)”! I was like what the F&%!?! Well read the email which this is what it said, “YO ALEX CHECK ON WINMX CHAT ROOM NAME IS (729 FREESTYLE) THIS KID NAMED E AKA ERICK FROM FLORIDA (LIONMADE@AOL.COM) TOOK YOUR ALBUM AND RIPPED IT INTO MP3'S AND IS SHARING IT WITH EVERYONE..DAMN WHAT A NICE FRIEND!!! JUST LETTING YOU KNOW..YEAH HE IS ALSO A MEMBER OF THE UFC ...”
I was like what the heel. Hey you guys that have bought the album are in title to your own judgment in the used of any cd by any Artists, and labels. But think about what kind of support you are getting. I find out that in Cali even there some who are bootlegging the cd, how far is the truth who knows. It’s a shame in how everything comes down. Please realize the struggle an artist have to go through to get rip it’s just isn’t right. I’m sorry I have to post this, but I love, respect, and trust my fans and any fan base that support all of us, but do you think that it’s right to rip an artist to save a few pennies? You let me know.
Very upset …

Alex,

That's horrible, bro. Unfortunatly, it happens to every artist out there. There's no other way to deter the production and sale of a bootleg album. It's all about supply and demand. The only reason bootleg cd's are hot is because people can buy them for $5 instead of $15. Personally, I'm all about quality first so I rarely buy bootlegs. But like I said earlier, if you make them, people will buy them. And I'm sure we all have a few bootlegs in our collection.

:mad SORRY TO HEAR THAT ALEX..IT'S BEEN HAPPENING ALOT, I JUST PUT THAT NAME ON MY BUDDY LIST..HOPE HE SHOWS.. :mad

Hi Alex...

It's a shame that it has come to this, but speaking from "a broke person's" behalf... some times, it's the only way to go.

I think I just purchased a bootleg DVD about a month ago, only because I wanted the movie, but didn't have the $20.00 to spare. (did buy the real thing just the other day)

Must admit, I did kind of feel like I was stealing (yeah, I know, I was)

I know this comes out of the artists "profit" but these label companies need to lower these dayum prices already.

It's ridiculous!

I definitely don't support it, so forgive me if it sounds like I do. I DON'T and I will continue to buy the things I love at the stores!!!

Much Love to you Alex!!!

I will always support FreeStyle!!!!

Gina

I don't even buy compact discs' anymore. If I REALLY like the artist, I'll look for the BEST deal whether it be through the web or retail.

But I agree, prices are too damn high. How the hell are you going to charge $18? It's bad enough most of these arists' are making more than one million a year. Many of us won't even make that in a lifetime. So I don't feel bad.

However, I do feel bad for groups like Latin Nation, etc. Also, take into consideration, the amount of underground dj's and artists' that benefit from bootleg albums and make it big, i.e, 50 Cents, DJ Clue, etc. Before they were signed to major labels, they were selling their music on the streets.

I understand that CPR ORTIZ sells tons of bootlegs at his store. dam shame!

Have you ever been to CPR's Store? I would say that would be NO!...For you to "understand" you have to be there and see it yourself.

"UNDERSTAND" THIS GUIDO...Its unfortunate that you consistantly put your foot in your mouth.

Awwwwwwwwww damn! There goes the love! =\

Alex! I'm very sorry this has happened. I purchased the cd from you and I did rip it to my puter...only to perserve the cd. It's not in a shared folder. People should support the new stuff that is put out these days cuz one day it won't be there TO purchase. 🙁

Nope, wouldnt waste my gas going to his bodega.

PUT MY FOOT IN MY MOUTH?

NEVER.

FOR A NEW MEMBER, YOU SEEM TO THINK YOU KNOW ME. :rolleyes

It's cool and thank you all, My cd sold more than what I thought and I thank God for that. Also I will say that the reviews I got are more than 80% saying that they love the cd and 20% saying that they don't. Also alot of peeps try selling, but alot had difficulty doing so, since they didn't promote it at their stores, or I didn't suplly the promotion end of it. Sorry as much as I will like to be able to push it out to the main chain and have heavy promotion, money is a big factor in my case and hey I'm not rich. I want to thank all of you who have bought, or support me in every way and have my back. I really appriciated and respect you. I can't do anything about the bootlegging, and the downloads. But I don't support and like I said if you paid for it then your in title to you own free will to promote it, but not to give away. Like Rhoq and Carlitos had said is a good for getting new fan base, and is because of DJ's make mix cd that I have gotten known. But there's just a limit to everything, but hey you do you and I hope the people remember that I stand by my music and try my best to please every one.
Sincerely
Alex of LN

Aight...let me clear something up for ya since ya don't know what you're talking bout. Erick is my man and he is NOT sharing the Latin Nation files or any MP3's to anybody. Yes, we do post up the room 729's Freestyle Fanatikz and yes we do got our files posted there...but NOBODY downloads from us. And I dont know why Erick is the only one who's getting blamed because I found the Latin Nation CD on the SoulSeek program before Erick even bought the CD so they had already been shared by somebody else.

Just to clarify something, NY Sexy Lil Rican, Alex didn't accuse anybody, He got emailed by somebody which is the email he posted. Alot people started to blame UFC which nobody was involve, Jkost email Alex and ask him what was going on and they spoke. Alex was just making a point and if didn't post the email he recieved then was the purposed to talk about something. Maybe we should've left it alone. I spoke to Alex right after I read his first post, and he told somebody email him. He also told me about Erik, he remenbers him, believe me he has great memory in knowing people. He remenber that Erik bought the CD from him at Wild palm, he also remenber signing it to him and also another miami fellow by the name of Manny, that also was with J Alams. So he remenbers. But that doesn't mean he blaming Erick. When he came to my house last year for the Summer Jamz concert we also ran into a site that had one of his demos to download, it was Fantasy, but the had it as Secret Lover, which is wrong and thats the reason he didn't about it. He had gotten email also by somebody about that. And we can not control the situation, nor fix the problems. This will go on for ever, and thats the bottom line. Over here in San Antonio is the same way, and I bet all over the world is that way too. So please don't feel as if we are blaming people cause we are not. You are who you are and thats all. Keep Freestyle Pumping.
Sincerely

My bad if I came out wrong or anything. But I just wanted clear it up that Erick is not sharing the Latin Nation or any other songs he has...and because he's not sharing his files alot of people are hating on him right now. Yes..he's the same Erick that was at Wild Palms with Manny and J.Alams. I was with Erick when he bought the CD from Alex and he signed it.

Hello Everyone:

My name is Joey Altura, i am an Professional Editor in the industry of music and i would like you all to please read what i am about to say, especially the indivisuals opposed of "NOT DOWNLOADING" knowing that this is just an Respectful Professional Opinion nothing more and nothing less, i mean this with good intentions and i would like to make it known that i wrote this with a good tone and a respectful one at that. 🙂

Let us begin:

This is a frustrating situation in deed and i can comprehend clearly with Latin Nation and why he posted this issue in the first place also i don't believe he targeted anyone with blame specifically the indivisual he was talking about either. Remarcably in the music industry there are tools to adjust to all the piracy but there is a sufficient load of laws protecting even the simplist of downloads, that is to say that someone downloading music in California for example just wants to download clips of the song so the indivisual can get a preview or a taste of what he or she wants or may not want, sadly this goes deep into the darker side of this indivisual as it takes 45,000 tries (not an actual figure) or downloads to decide that he or she actually wants to purchase the product. Now there is a large amount of material on his/her hard drive, some unintentionally but most are not.

To those who find other means to get music because they feel it is not right that someone worked extremely long difficult hours to make a product and places a label that to me is actually a fair price considering the amount of labor that goes into making one of these products and makes a lagitimate living through his or her talent regardless if you feel it is not right that someone is making that kind of a salary (i dont know why you would) is totally and absolutely without a doubt wrong. These industry personel eg; Artist, Administrators, Bands and all so many more involved indivisuals work extreme hours just like anyone in any field of labor, it doesnt matter what it is that you do for a living. Here's what you as an indivisual who can care less about downloading via these share networks is practically saying (and they will tell you this in court) "I'm gonna steal something that's yours because quite frankly i hate the fact that you have a huge annual salary anyway and i dont, it's on the internet so why not, it must be right", well, it is not, if you've ever looked at at any publication of music of books you will see that it is posted just like you would post "WARNING, PRIVATE PROPERTY, NO TRESPASSING, POLICE TAKE NOTICE"

The internet is federal and those rules apply even more so if i were these indivisuals i would be looking out for that and for RIAA because when you get caught what you feel towards the industry in that negative sense will change quickly because the penalty is incredibly costly. If it were upto me and not the federal governement i would finally end this entire ordeal by deciding to just ban music on the internet and lets get back to the old way of doing things in life and that is to work, shop and pay for what you want in the real world and that goes for all of us. This is the only known filter that makes sence but unfortunately due to so many laws the working class usually falls into the cracks.

Again this is just an Professional Respectful Opinion.

Regards Always,
Joey Altura

Ok..we all know NOTHING will prevent us humans from copying etc

Wouldn't it be a smart idea for label companies to lower their prices on CDs? Like sell them at $10.00 flat? To me that is a smart move and one that can generate more sales than selling a dayum CD for $15-$18! Considering too a CD to manufacter is a penny.

Thank you for the supports and views

Alex did not attack anyone, he posted just so the people see the wrong doing in the downloading and copying freestyle music that in the 1st place is not big with the selling. I know as well as many of you's know that this kind of things happen in any industry, not just freestyle, but freestyle is a Underground industry. Joey couldn't be more right on his words. Artists that have to put out of their own to keep music pumping those not get the recognition they deserve. Alex since the first day we met all he talk about is how are we going to continue this generation and getting it known more widely. It has potential and it has the talent that alot crave, but the lack of promotion, distributions, and record companies not given it the day, that is whats keeping Freestyle where it's at. Then the creativity from the artists, the talent of both artists and producers, and passion of the producers has lack and fade to nothing. We need to look for better solution we need to work together instead of agianst each other. Willie V., Artie, Edwin, Tommy, Nathan, and all the producers that I have seeing, heard, and have also work with Alex have the talent to keep the generation in motion. I was so happy to hear that Artie had wrote and produce a track for Willie V. how cool was that. We are in love with this music or else none of this would've happen or be here.
Enigma sorry to disagree with you friend, but it's more then just pennies. There's alot of people that get's paid more what you think. You may have an idea, but it's alot more then that. The people that are doing the Cd, The art work, The print shop, type setting, all for the package and then the distribution that unfortunetly we don't have. So alot of hard work. Lets hope for the best in our music world and do the best we can.
Sincerely
