Hey all. I was wondering how all of you got introduced to Freetyle and how old were you? I personally was about 11-12 where my cousine cruised with freestyle beats in his stereo specially Johnny O and I loved the sound.🙂

With me, my cousin who is 5 yrs older than me, we were always hanging around one another, and I used to listen to whatever she listened to cause I was trying to be like her. We grew up in the 80's so we were there when it first exploded onto the scene. Course at the time, I was young, so I didn't comprehend what is was all about, but from the moment I heard Johnny O, I was hooked. I guess I had to be about 6 or 7 when my cousin was listening to it.

depending on what year "freestyle" was born. some say with SHANNON, some say with LISA LISA, some say with NAYOBE. If we start with SHANNON, I was 12. I still remember watching the video on TV late that summer!🙂

As Kenny mentioned above it depends on what yearfreestyle was "born". As many have said the first time I heard the sound was in >>82'<< ,at 10 years of age I had the dj next door makin me tapes."AEIOU" by freeze defintely was different. It wasn't until 86' when I was a freshmen in HS that I got addicted with Company B's "Fascinated" shortly thereafter I bought my first vinyl "No reason to cry"in 1987.I still have it til this day in my freestyle vinyl collection. :freek

I always liked the Cover Girls songs when I was about 7 or 8 years old, before I new what Freestyle was. I'd say I got into Freestyle from B96(back when they were good) when I heard In Paradise by Laissez Faire.I was in 6th grade, i think i was 12 or 13 years old. that song got me hooked on Freestyle. I loved the shit out of it. LOL😀

I was about 10 yrs old, I have a cousin who is 2 yrs older than me and he fell in love with Freestyle in about 1991, All I ever heard was "Together Forever" and "Temptation", he burned the sh*t out of those songs and all of Lisette's and Corina's other hits so I got into the music through him from there I started picking up on The Cover Girls, TKA, Giggles, Coro, and Many More. Freestyle is definately my one favorite music. Thank god for you Ray(my cousin)and freestyle music!!!!!:blah :hearton :blah

Well I would listen 2 artists like Cover Girls and Stevie B ever since I waz little cuz my parents would sometimes listen 2 them.I waz like 6 yrs. old @ the time.I really got into it when I was 13 yrs. old.By then I started buying nothin but freestyle, listening, the works.😀

well like the rest of us, I was about 13. But the year wasn't something like 1985... it was more like 2000 when elissa did that hit "Back to Me" and all those other toronto maniacs kicked the Hits 103.5 airwaves. 😱 (surprise surprise I'm a bit of a young'un here)

I was either 3 or 4 yrs. old when I first started absorbing the Freestyle Vibes on the radio, by age 5 I had more than enough to get me started. I remember this because I used to try and breakdance in front of my peeps, lol. At the time...everyone was calling it "Latin Hip Hop". Everybody would be like,"You like that Latin Hip Hop?" and they'd be like,"Heeelll Yeaah". Either way, I'm sure I was still wearing pampers, 😛.

Freestyle 4 Always,
