my brothers finally gettin married durin thanksgivin weekend. he was engaged for about a year i think, more or less
 
Well, the accepted practice is around a year. I don't know who ever decided that... but that's what everyone seems to be doing.

I agree with Doos... just do it when you feel you are ready. You shouldn't wait a specific time period just because people say so.

I WOULD SAY AT LEAST A YEAR WITHIN THAT TIME IT GIVES BOTH PEOPLE THE OPPURTUNITY TO KNOW MORE ABOUT EACH OTHER. I THINK BOTH INDIVIDUALS SHOULD REALLY THINK IT THROUGH MARRAGE IS A BIG STEP FOR BOTH AND THOSE WHOSE LIVES ARE INVOLVED 😀

I think it depends how long you've know eachother. If you have been together for a while than normally it is as Martini Said 1yr
I don't know who decided that either. But, If you just met and don't really know eachother deeply I think Like Jack said at least a lil more than a year. But, you know what some people believe in love at first sight and get married after 1week and live happily ever after. I don't know these people but, I'm sure they exist 🙂

destiny, i know a couple who have been married for about 20 years and they married 2 weeks after meeting eachother. on the other hand.... i'm going to a wedding this week for a couple who have been dating for 7 years. so, i agree, it really depends on the depth of the relationship. 🙂

YOU GOT QUESTIONS, WE GOT ANSWERS......HEHE WELL IT ALL DEPENDS ON YOU AND IF YOUR GONNA HAVE A BIG OR SMALL WEDDING. WHEN I WAS ENGAGED, I GOT MARRIED ABOUT A YEAR AFTER, FOR THE FACT THAT I WANTED A BIG WEDDING, AND IT TAKES APPROXIMATELY A YEAR TO GET EVERYTHING TOGETHER. YUPS A YEAR.....MIGHT BE ABLE TO DO IT IN LESS TIME TOO....I'M SURE.....BUT EVEN WITH A YEAR PLANNING I WAS STILL STRESSED OUT ABOUT IT AND PULLING MY HAIR OUT........LOL

I THINK THAT THE MORE TIME YOU HAVE THE BETTER.......DECISIONS, DECISIONS, DECISIONS!!!!!
