I would be among the Dinosaurs...
I first heard of Freestyle back in the days (@1982?).
Tina B's song "Honey to a Bee" comes into mind...This was the point in my life when Breakin' & Electric Boogie was the Shiznit! for me.
Then in 1983, my buddy came upto me and said: Yo! There's this club called HEARTTHROBS (26th & 11th Ave.(Manhattan)) that we goto go to. They got this kind of music that we never heard before."
So we went to my other friends house, told his & our parents that we were sleeping over and snuck out his window & into the night...Took the #1 train to 28th Street and trooped it down to the club. Mind you that we were only 13 at the time. So when we got to the door we had to show the bouncer a little courtesy ($10 extra a head)...
From there on FREESTYLE remains to me, the only type of music that I love, forever........Don't ask what time we came back home...Just think about the '@SS Whippin' we got!
