For me it was one of my older brother got me into it I was at the time around 13yrs old or so and ever seen then I been hook to it ..

well actually, i always liked the 'pop dance' music thingy when i was little.and i always liked to dance. like Tiffany, Paula Abdul, etc.anything that had a 'freestyle-like sound' then i heard the Cover Girls and Expose songs i figured it was all the same music.then i started listening to B96 and liked Bad Of the Heart. then In Paradise, i fell in love with that song.and i went skating i started hearing all these cynthia songs at the rollerrink that i loved also.i always knew they all sounded similar, i notcied they were all 'freestyle' listening to Tim Spinnin Schommer's freestyle mixes on the weekends on B96. so maybe B96 and the rollerrink got me into it.its the beat that gets me :dancepuff

When I first saw the video for "Can You Feel The Beat" at the age of 8 or 9, and I fell in love with Lisa Lisa and her amazing rack. I'm dead serious, too.

Me too I aint gonna front on that

I lived in NYC back in the early 80's, right after the Hip Hop hit of "LA DI DA DI, WE LIKE TO PARTY", the radio played Shaka Khan and the Lisa Lisa. I had a blast and fell in :hpound for the first time with freestyle.
Later it was my cousin who's a DJ that got me really into it. He would make me some bad a$$ mixes.

The second time I fell in :hpound with freestyle was a friend of mine who's a hardcore freestyler and he got me into it again. So thank's to you F.Boy (you know who are) 😉 🙂

couple years ago listening to z103.5 when elissa's bomb "back to me" was all over their charts - i got hooked pretty fast especially after listening a couple times to their freestyle frenzy on sunday afternoons :blah ahh to be 13 again

My mom loves it and she would forever listen to KTU when I was young. I was like 5 and jammin to my first freestyle song. . "I'll be loving you" - Collage 😉

Well, I grew up to freestyle sort of. My parents listened to some of it (ex. Cover Girls,Sweet Sensation,Stevie B). They have some freestyle albums/singles in their collection. As I got older, I started digging further & further, past my parents music collection for more freestyle! :fkinaman :listen

i first got into it cuz my mom used to listen to all the old jams by tka, sweet sensation, and lisa lisa from then on i was hooked
