Go take a Law course and you'll see how truly messed up the Canadian Law system is. What I learned a couple of years back really baffled me. Don't get me wrong, I don't agree w/the death penalty UNLESS there is w/o a doubt that the accused in indeed guilty. However, I am totally aware of how stupid our laws can be.
 
PortuGino.. where did I say that EUROPEAN COUNTRIES have death penalty??? ALl i said is that I was european and that I'm not so touchy about saving our murderers like Canadians seem to be! I'm for the harder laws! I am FOR the death penalty! As most europeans are... and I'm not talking about those who were born here cos they're not european, they're canadian, I'm talking about europeans coming straight from europe who are used to strict laws. But whatever... this is not something that will make anyone change the laws... I just hope they take is strict on THIS dude, he deserves minimum LIFE sentence.

my dad told me police officers are starting to go to chat rooms, pretending to be 12-year-old girls, and talking to child molesters and luring them someplace to meet them. then the cops arrest the child molester who'd been in the chat room.. is that true? :confused sounds like a good method.

Yup the toronto police are doing that...and made their first arrest on thursday...a cop possed as a 12 yr old on the net...when the guy went to meet the kid they nabbed the jerk
 
o wow, it's true thanks for informing gina. it's good that they're catching the perv's, but it's risky because the other person just might really be a kid.
 
I think they really investigate and are like positive that its not a kid before they set up a meet up...
 
The funny thing is that there has not been anymore attempted abductions in that area. Yet no one is mentioning if this suspect arrested in the Holly Jones case was connected to those attempted abductions. Probably was some copy cat that was doing it and now that someone got arrested in the Holly Jones case is on the down low. As for the internet arrests that the police are on now, all I can say is IT'S ABOUT TIME. Police in Europe have been arresting people that lure children over the net for some years now, so have American officials, what took Canada so long?
 
Actually, from what I recall hearing on the news, the Holly Jones suspect is not connected to the other abductions. I could be wrong though...
 
yeah i don't think he is either.. they said they arrested him because they thought he was the one connected with other abductions, but as it turns out he is one to blame for holly not other cases 🙁 which means there are other psychos out there... watch ur kids, lil sisters and brothers 🙁

does anyone know if they asked this monster any questions as to why he did what he did?

1sxychica, since when do "most" Europeans support the death penalty? Funny, one of the requirements of the European Union is that its member countries do not practice capital punishment.

If you like harsh laws, move to California. They have a three strikes law. Burglarize a store three times and you get life in prison. Does it deter crime? No. Los Angeles still has a VERY high crime rate. Harsh punishments have never been proven to deter crime.

Please, give me a break, ALL THE WORST CRIMINALS COME FROM CANADA? That's just outrageous to say. Did you know Canada's murder rate is 1/10th to 1/20th of the U.S.'s murder rate? Before you complain about Scarborough or Jane St. or the East End of Vancouver,whatever area you want to nag about, come down to D.C. and I will show you SOUTH EAST D.C. an area where you WILL GET SHOT, ROBBED, OR RAPED if you walk around any time of day or night. There is literally a murder there almost every night. Drive down to Miami, check out Little Haiti, I spent 15 minutes there around 11 PM one night and I witnessed TWO COP CHASES, thugs drinking 40 oz.'s in the middle of the street (just like in eastern D.C.). Did you know in historic and scenic Savannah, Georgia you are about 40 times more likely to get mugged or murdered than anywhere in Toronto?

So stop nagging, sure some bad crimes happen, guess what, crimes happen everywhere. We have way more psychotic criminals in the U.S. than anywhere in Canada. I see females walking alone at night all over Canada, thats pretty much unheard of here in the states.

I don't look at it as a dangerous place or Jane/Finch for that matter, if u mess with the wrong crouds then yeah u should worry. All in all, i don't need a lecture from you... use that language and attitude with someone who permits it because last thing i need is someone like YOU to give me shit about something i said... it's not gonna happen. I never said canada has the highest crime ratio... secondly when i said it's got some of the world's worst crimes, i didn't say they're the WORST i said they could be counted as worst because of the cruelty and lack of fair punishment... as for european union... well no one said that they use it as a way to reach justice, i just know that people agree to it more than they do here... also none of the courties that i got in my background belong to the european union...
like i said.. i don't appreciate ur attitude... if u got something to say i wanna see respect in ur posts, i don't need u to treat me like i'm stupid, if u got something to say say it to me personaly, because i don't want to see this on the boards again... was this clear enough? i'm not always right, i don't check the facts before i post, they're my opinions, mine and those of people i talk to about these matters... i don't judge u for what u say, so don't do that to me... ur opinion is appreciated, however it could have been stated in a much nicer way....

1SxyChica... whoa.... I wasnt trying to be rude, I was just trying to put some perspective on how easy it is to overestimate the crime problem. I wasnt judging you either, If you re-read my post you'll see there were no personal attacks or anything personal for that matter.

Its just that you made Canada out to be some sort of crime-ridden hellhole, when in reality you have it great there, whereas I've got dangerous gun-filled slums about 20 mins from me across the river.
