Good News/ Bad News about KTU 103.5

Well, I've been listening to KTU 103.5 in NYC for the last couple of days (I haven't listened for a long time) and I guess there is good news and bad news. It seems that they have added alot more new and current charting hits to their playlists, rather than just playing the classic dance music with a few current songs that are 6 months to a year old. At least that helps the station to sound a little more contemporary than it's been for the past year.

On the other hand, of all the new and current hits on their playlists, I wouldn't consider any of them to be TRUE dance records. No club music, freestyle, house music, techno, or anything close to it. Most of the new songs are R&B, Pop, or HipHop records that are already being played on all the contemporary music stations around the United States. They play new music by artists such as Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, Nelly Furtado, Jennifer Lopez, Rihanna, Fergie, Maroon 5, Timbaland, and Kanye West, yet they have not played any of the true dance records that people are dancing to in the clubs. I listen to a Satellite radio station that plays current dance hits and some of the songs are great! Yet, there is literally nothing played on that Satellite station that can be heard on KTU. That's pretty pitiful!

i agree, i will also give you a fact, ktu gets a radio dance cd from promo only with excellent dance mixes of all the new mainstream hits and the shame is that they don't even play half that stuff..

I bought a Honda CR-V in Sept and it came with a 3 month trail for satelliate radio - i love it!! so many great stations with no commercials !! The chrome station even has its own freestyle show on sunday nights - i love hearing Rupaul mention the cover girls, safire & noel during the promos.

When I'm in NYC I don't even bother listening to KTU anyway. Then again, I hardly even listen to the radio.

KTU SUCKSSS!!!...
they were never a REAL dance music station!! there nothing but a bullshit so called dance music station....
NOW they are just complete garbage...nothing but the same old 5 songs from the 70s and 80s and today R&B and pop...same r&B and pop that all the other stations play
we can only hope they will be off the air soon....waste of a station they serve no purpose and have no format.....

My thought on this is
one...either dance music in not in such great demand or
two....dance music doenst have the money behind it the way r&b and pop does to pay off the radio stations to play there music....(because we all know radio is about money NOT music) or
the dance music community doenst have a strong say and unity to make there voice heard and demand there music get air play...

I think its time that a real dance station comes out of the woodworks. But you know what will probaly happen? KTU would probably increase its dance hits only to draw attention away from the new station, just like they did with 102.7 THE MIXX.

We need the ORIGINAL HOT 97 back!
