In some instances I agree with you ness but I have seen family that was estrange pull together when the going go tough. Thank god that if something was to happen to me and their dad I know my kids will be going into a home where they are loved. I might not like my ex sister in law much but she has proven over and over that she loves my kids and will move heaven and earth if she had too for them.

I have my best friend and ex has my son's godparents. I chose them because my family and I are not close (including my sis) and I know that if I was to pass on they would take care of them as their own along with his dad and stepmom.
 
I am thankful to God I have a fammily who loves my son more then anythign in the world even my moms boyfriend who isnt his blood grand daddy is who he know as his papa. God forbid somehting happend to ume and his daddy I know my son would be in great hands along with my closest frineds

Thats how I feel too Ang, even my step dad adores my kids. He'll be quick to say those are my grandchildren. Gotta love them for that.
 
He is el primer the first grandchild so imagniate and I got those friends who always make sure lil man is good you will see him in action this weekend lol
 
I personally Naya, feel that family is not always the best choice. I agree on family if it's like a close sister and/or brother of yours but sometimes your closest and best friends can be a good choice too. It depends.


I know that in the catholic religion we have 2 sets of godparents. The godparents I choose for church are the same ones I choose for "aqua".

I agree with LaBetty...family is not always the best choice...I myself trust some of my friends more than my own family...
 
Well in my religion which is similar to Catholic but a slight bit different...the female children have 2 godmothers and 1 godfather whereas the male children have 2 godfathers and 1 godmother.

As for me...my mom picked her sister-in-law and the wife of one of her cousins. I was closer to her cousin's wife as far as the godchild/godparent relationship goes than I ever was with my aunt. As for my godfather...my dad's brother...I was never ever close to him and he lived around the corner from us until I was like 18 yrs old. How sad is that? :lol

Shit I was baptized cause my dad is Catholic and I have no contact with my godmother or godfather it is so bad that my godmother is this boogey think she above the rest since she married well that she saw me one time and aint even say shit to me her man at the time and father of her daughter was my godfather y that day was the last day I saw him lol. I say go with your heart when choosing plain and simple.
 
well I guess it all depends and what type of relationship you have with your family.. I might have my differences with my family here and there, but I would trust no other with my kids.
 
Well back in the day...when the cavemen and the dinosaurs used to roam the earth j/k...the godparents were usually the matron of honor and the best man aka the "padrino/madrina" of the wedding...so when my mom got married her "padrino/madrina" of the wedding (which was her aunt and uncle) were suppossed to be my godparents...but the "madrina" said she didn't want to be..because she wasn't going to waste her money on me (what a biatch...that is why till this day I can't stand that woman)...so my mother asked her brother and his wife to be my godparents...and that was the best choice because they are awesome!!!

Interesting way to put it because that is the way my husband and i wanted it, but then it does bring up alot of questions of who will get the child if they are not a couple if something happens, but family does sound like an options but it is difficult because these days it is hard to trust anyone
 
I dont' speak to my own Godparents..lol not that I hate them, they were never there for me growing up.. My Godfather is in jail serving a life prison sentence for killing his estrange wife... Long story.. and my Godmother which was his first wife, never kept in contact with me, and she lived in patterson NJ all her life... when she found out I was singing she tried to reach out to me, butit was too late, I had no need for her then.

Well in a way...it still works like that (well in my family it does anyway)...because I was the "madrina" for my cousin's wedding and then later I became the godmother to her daughter...

Well family is funny in a lot of ways...but that is another story...just because they are family doesn't mean that they are going to be there for you and yours...sometimes friends act more like family than your actual family...
