Ohhhhh.......let's debate!
*before I even start, I want it known that Tae and I are cool with each other, and I didn't take offense to anything he said. No drama here.*

i personally feel its a subject given too much interest.. in the news on TV..in the movies
Well, as strange as it may seem, there is a "gay media" and "straight media". Magazines like "Out" "The Advocate" and others focus on gay news. there is going to be a gay network (perhaps two) soon.
Other papers (Post, News, Star Legder) networks (ABC, NBC, CBS) are mainstream and "straight". Any gay info you get from here, you are getting from the straight media.

on here everyday three or four threads a day.. and dont get offended the gay members here but really what is the big fascination about??
Ok, that is an exageration, but I take the blame for the recent "spurt" in them. I posted in the "mod" forum about the idea of posting a thread a day during gay pride month. Everyone was for it, which is why I went through with it. As for the "facination" with it? To us, it's normal. You'd have to ask the other straight members.

we dont start "straight " threads..thers no "straight" news scandlals
Go to the adult forum or love forum. Anytime someone is there taking about their wedding, it's a straight thread.

we dont have a 'straight pride " parade, i dont understand the alternative lifestyle..but i give those who lead it respect as long as its not emphasized or thrown in my face every two minutes.then it becomes annoying..when you potray yourself or you are identified as a gay person first then just who you are..theres something not right about that to me
So, do you have an issue with the Puerto Rican Pride Parade, and the Puerto Rican Flag bumperstickers I see on cars, or cds hanging from mirrors with the flag on them?
We use the pride parade to bring light to the fact that there are rights given to people that we are denied, because we are gay.
We openly identify with being gay, because we have too. If I go to a job, I have to make sure they offer protection against discrimination on sexual orientation. (some jobs don't-which means I could be fired for being gay) I also have to see if the company offers benefits/health coverage to same sex partners (some jobs don't), and my partner won't get coverage, like a wife would if her husband worked there. I can't just go to the local bar, supermarket, or where ever, to meet someone. I need to go to "special" bars in certain towns to meet someone.

people are people with different taste.. its that simple..what you do in the bedroom shouldnt be a defining factor and modern culture has taken the GAY thing way to the extreme
While you may feel this way, gay people are happy with the exposure. In the end, it will help us to be seen in different ways, and perhaps help us to get the right to get married, and adopt children.
